  1. This is wild. We've actually reached a point where people don't see the guardian favoritism anymore
  2. Surprised to see so little mention of warrior. Healing Signet gives a non-trivial amount of health every second, and Adrenal Health in defense gives you more healing over time based on how much adrenaline you spend, which can stack on itself. There's also Might Makes Right, which heals when you grant yourself might, and I think a trait in Tactics that heals when you grant allies a boon/might. It ultimately ends up being a lot of passive healing just for hitting guys and playing like normal.
  3. The misplaced FGC analogies may land better without being unnecessarily condescending. Things like prediction or baiting play a much smaller role in GW2 than some would lead you to believe, even for simple reasons like 3d movement or a dodge that you can use at basically any time, including during your own skills. Certain builds are afforded more opportunities with higher payoffs and lower risk than others +/- a disproportionate amount of defensive tools for how threatening they are. One of the builds initially listed (warrior hammer) sacrifices very little to have access to devastating touch of death-like combos, which they will eventually land on a player of equal skill purely because their build provides more opportunities to do so. This is even more frustrating for the other 97% of people who play PvP, because unfortunately, the vast majority of the PvP population will never reach the skill or understanding required to have the game sense or reactions necessary for "don't get hit" to be a valid excuse. Games with broad audiences have to leverage balancing around the top level of play with the largest level of play - one thing to keep in mind is these outlier no-fun stompy builds are even more egregious at lower skill levels. Nobody likes getting 100 to 0'd because they got hit once without a stunbreak available (in the event of damage, this part doesn't even matter). This is the same reason why things like no-hit speedruns or boss fights are frustrating, because you have to indefinitely play perfectly or die (or at least be put at a significant disadvantage) because you made one mistake. This is the current state of the game at every level of play except the actual top 50ish players. That aside, the bigger problem is still things that you can't reasonably predict or react to, such as burst/CC from stealth or from the other side of a wall.
  4. I know forums are similar to restaurant/google reviews, where generally people go to express frustration and disdain rather than praise, which is why the community's outlook on the class seems so negative. That being said, I still run into a TON of warriors in every game mode, and surely not everyone playing the class is doing it purely from a loyalty standpoint. Personally, as a diehard GS spellbreaker player, I'm pretty happy with the state of warrior, especially in OW and sPvP. Warriors on the forums seem to possess such negative opinions on their class compared to other classes. Can anyone enlighten?
  5. Apologies for the self-bump but I would like a smarter person's input 😞
  6. Returning from a break and I seem to remember lethal tempo (traited) maintaining 5 stacks if you just mash F1 whenever it's available, but now I always lose my stacks just before F1 comes off cooldown. Is this a build/skill issue, or should I be using F2/F3 and guides just exclude it from the rotation?
  7. Revenant is definitely a big winner. SB means you have access to a decent ranged weapon without having to be a renegade. GS is a buff to all power builds because it's stronger than sword/sword and opens a lot of build flexibility. Warrior getting dagger all over is pretty nice too.
  8. Thanks everyone for the information! Despite not replying, I promise I've been taking the feedback into account. So, I think the best way to answer this is to give a laundry list of things my "ideal" greatsword class would have: - mobility(!) - doesn't require "setup" before dealing damage (ex. building adrenaline). The two classes that have best satisfied this so far are Ranger and Vindicator (you just walk up to a guy and press 2) - damage mechanics are linked to the player, not the enemies (ex. using sic 'em only helps deal damage to one enemy every 30 secs, whereas a stance provides benefits to myself against any number of enemies) - some degree of defensive capability (ex. warrior GS3 has evade, rev and ranger have block on 4) - few tedious mechanics to maintain for the sake of adding "depth" to gameplay (ex. having to maintain lethal tempo, or making sure endurance doesn't get full) - ideally, GS is viable enough to also be used in PvP/PvE I have a ton of hours on guardian and warrior, and I can't really put my finger on why guardian doesn't appeal to me right now--maybe because 4 is stationary, or spamming feel my wrath off cooldown or virtues to maintain lethal tempo is annoying. I am fully aware a lot of my issues would be avoided if I just took a suboptimal approach to the classes, but I'd like for that to be a last-er resort if possible. Warrior has to deal with adrenaline before they can really start easily dealing damage (unless I'm reliant on utilities to gain adrenaline at the beginning of every encounter, plus warrior's GS skills are just eh). The problem with rev is vindicator has the annoying dodge minigame to deal with, but alliance stance is great bc it's very self-sufficient and meets most of my other criteria. Renegade seems simple enough but I don't really care for Kalla or any of the basic legends, plus rev's inherent energy management system doesn't really appeal to me. I fear herald may not check enough of my boxes to be a good choice either. I've been playing my soulbeast for the last few days and have been content enough with it. While I don't like it thematically or a lot of its potential utility skill options, I think it may be the most appealing GS to me right now, possibly second to vindicator. Sorry for the silly post... I recognize this is not a flattering look for me.
  9. I've never been an avid revenant player until Vindi came around. With the upcoming weaponmaster changes, I'm excited to try GS Herald. I've never really played herald and I'm struggling to wrap my head around, especially coming from vindi which is very self-sufficient and jack-of-all-trades-y. Most of these apply to open world but I also do fractals, strikes, and sPvP. These are some initial thoughts/questions from a newcomer to the spec. How do you deal with condis? If you're running glint/shiro you basically have 0 condi cleanse. You also have no access to stab, and aside from consuming facet of light (which is admittedly fantastic), your sustain is limited to regeneration, shiro heal and F2 life steal (+/- battle scars if running it). Glint's only mobility is swiftness so you're reliant on your other legend or weapons to move (which almost all require a target) - how much does this "sting"? What's the point of Glint F2 when you maintain 100% boon uptime just by using the facets normally? Aside from obvious use cases like consuming facet of darkness to break stun, when do you want to maintain vs consume facets? e.g. is it better to give yourself a bunch of might or instantly use burst of strength for the damage and buff? Same with facet of elements, do you just mash that on cooldown for the damage? I'm somewhat proficient with quickness herald, but mostly because I memorized the rotation and know my job is to poop out a bunch of boons, which is different than non-group PvE content Someone make it make sense to my pea-brain
  10. I love vindicator, but I'm not a huge fan of the way dodge is incorporated into the gameplay/dealing damage. Making sure you dodge to maintain damage buffs and as a damage mechanic doesn't really appeal to me. I'm kind of excited for SoTO because I can use GS on Herald, but it turns out Herald has its own set of intricacies. I want to be really dumb. I basically just want to play vindi but without the dodge/endurance management minigame. I guess there's core power rev? Or just go play guardian or something? tl:dr - want braindead smack things with big sword no brain
