  1. add me to the list specially since i ONLY need 2 more magic to collect -.-
  2. well if you actually did watch the video which is a recording of a 2016 publisher conference about monetizing the ever loving crabs out of people you would not have that stands. also its literally FIRST HAND information from the people who MADE MTX a thing.
  3. how to say you didnt read and watched the video without saying you didnt read it or watched the video
  4. and you dont understand that the blatant stat increase is not the only p2w anymore
  5. fine apparently MMOs player paid money for patches now. according to you.
  6. but they are... you own the expansion (while paying the monthly fee which i already said is merely access to game) and you get them without purchasing extra them literally the entire second half you left out explains it
  7. i didn't argue that it doesn't. but i do argue p2w is not just gameplay and competitiveness alone any more. focuses of games have shifted to things of social and psychological aspects. Essentially they took the "ashes of alar" which was cool to have because keal'thas was kittening hard at the time, made it 20 times better and slapped a 15-25 dollar prize tag on it. And gw2 even made it a freaking loot box out of it. And its this "aww" effect that makes people who can swipe their card 40 times a day winning in that aspect as "the stupid free to play" has to grind either gold for months or the raid/strike mission to get something worth while.
  8. MTX do not fund games or pay developers. if you still believe this you have been sleeping under a rock. what MTX do is paying CEOs, managers and investor EVEN MORE money. Why do you think despite hundred millions of profit they lay off hundreds or thousands of people frequently? because they only made 900 million instead of 950 million in profit. so they lay off people who's salaries and wages they can use to reach the last 50 million and appease the investors.
  9. it is P2w if you stop using only a 17 year old mindset. what you know is p2w is only the most blatant form of it. But when games shift focus from mastery and success over others to ...let's say... cosmetics...HAVING a cosmetic is an "advantage" over those who do NOT HAVE it. It's a psychological game of "have's" and "not-have's" here is how 6-7 years ago this was already known and merely presented to a broad field of publishers, CEOs and managers. basically the games industry has already changed what p2w means and since most gamers are not interested in the business side of the industry, they completely slept on how they are being fed a mindset that is not up-to-date anymore
  10. literally in all MMOs you just listed there is story content after the expansion added later on. disregarding the monthly fees WoW has dungeons, raids and numerous story update for "free". Same with FF14, either the uneven or even patches provide additional story, whilst the other patches provide gameplay content and ESO give you depending how many part an expansion has the parts for free without the need to purchase them separately as new players need to do with living world in guild wars2. "BuT tHe MoNtHlY fEeS!" you may be typing furiously on your keyboard but here is the thing. you pay them even if you do NOT buy the expansion packs: in In ESO you get minor DLC stuff but NO expansions and thus new stories only come with extra purchase. In WoW you can run around the old 1-60 zones and never went into BC and later expansions you still need to pay the fees. FF14 is a bit different in that as it offers the core game and the first expansion for free and only if you got further you'd be requested to pay monthly, but one can reasonably expect that to expand to storm blood and shadowbringer eventually. But you'd still be paying a monthly fee and NO story access if you stayed in stormblood. heck there would have been a riot last summer during the WoW refugee crisis if the entire ul'dah story line leading up to heavensward would have been an extra purchase. AND YES this entire story line and royal assassination plot were free patch update story content. Monthly fees are not relevant to access to story but access to the game itself regardless of what story content you have access to. And the average and also majority MMO player outside of GW2 will see the numerous skins in the gemstore as monthly fee circumvention. but NOT the story. story in any other MMO was and always has been tied to the expansion purchase even patches adding stuff later.
  11. you misunderstand a critical point here: DLC is the expansion BOX not the patches adding a bit more story afterwards. you can call it "living world all you want, but to the eyes of the average MMO player these are PATCH story content and not DLC like expansions. and patch story updates are in all other MMOs FREE if you own the associated expansion. Which means season3 needs to be part of the HOT experience, season 4 and IBS part of POF, and what ever comes with EoD to that expansion. And considering that they were FREE for players who logged in, they just arbitrally charge new players for it who literally couldn't be there. this is not like the guardian costume you get for creating an account before Date X, these are vital story and content. And it gets even worse if one considers that anet has set themselves up by previously removing the price of expansions prior if you just bought the current one.. they made core free with HOT, they made hot free when you bought Pof. and now they ask new players to suddenly pay MORE? it maybe business wise justified but it does not look to consumers regardless, DUE to anets prior behavior. if they NEVER lowered prices so often with old content it would not be an issue today.
  12. you shouldn't axe the venoms on thief entirely. make the venoms effect on allies WEAKER but keep the full powered venom on the thief who casted it. this way thiefs can still build on poison as they used to
  13. if you all just talking about dps numbers: NONE OF THAT WILL EVER MATTER. it's a design issue. Not a numbers issue. If a weaver would do 50Dps nobody would take it anyway because it does not provide utility. just to name an example. And the only way FB and mech get some competition its fundamentally change them in ways that doesn't make them "boons/heal/any support by merely existing" machines. and just for the record, heal tempest even with only 5 man does MORE flat out healing then FB, but FB is taken because it does EVERYTHING ELSE as well
  14. well the skips got patched in a few days later actually but its about the same time period. and to be fair SOME aspects could have been done more exciting. the egg collection was boring. that doesn't mean I disagree with you tho. the mount needs to be a "play the freaking game" effort only. They just needed to change to presentation of this effort (and the hints can be less cryptic too, since they already have to look it up in the achievement panel)
  15. do i read sarcasm here?`maybe so let me address it. the mount system alone does NOT draw in people or keep them, of course. its only a part of a big package. but the fact that blizzard stole a portion of that system and people like it even though its scuffed in its initial presentation, shows it a very good portion of GW2.
