  1. The achievement reads as follows: That's not something that happens within a particular story instance, like "dodge all the traps" or "find all the notes"; that's "do a successful map meta before you even start this part of personal story ". So if we don't do it in that order, does that mean we can never get that achievement on that character? Or is it possible to go back and replay the chapter to do it, like with any other story achieve?
  2. The one I had the most fun with was Specter. I played it more as condi DPS rather than a healbot, and I liked it. It felt good (which is the most important aspect of any class, if you ask me), and despite people saying it's weak, with the spec and gear I used it did a lot of damage, and was nearly unkillable to boot. That being said, I don't really know if it's the one I'm most looking forward to. I play Mesmer a lot; I didn't like Virtuoso that much, but that may just be because I really didn't understand it, and I'm really interested in seeing how it's been updated. I also play Necromancer a lot, and Harbinger showed a lot of promise; it was just kind of...bland. But I'm also really interested in seeing how that one turns out next update.
  3. Mesmer is only thief-like in that it has (limited) access to stealth, and they both have a teleport skill and a portal skill. Other than that, they're very different classes. Mesmers have some very good melee options, although I personally say that if you want a melee battlemage, don't go Chrono; go Mirage. Axe mirage is fantastic. As for Reaper, that one's awesome too, although that one has more of a "death knight" feel to it than a "spellblade" feel.
  4. It occurs to me that a number of the complaints about this spec could be tied together to remedy each other. The complaints - "Blight is an overly-punishing mechanic that doesn't have a real use", and "elixirs are boring", could be tied together, so that additional stacks of blight make the elixirs stronger; adding more stacks, longer durations, or giving additional effects per blight stack (or per every three blight stacks past the first, or per every 5 stacks, depending on the effect).
  5. My thoughts: 1.) I think the "blades stay after battle!" is backwards. Blades staying between fights gives the Virtuoso a potentially higher initial burst at the very beginning of a fight...but that's it. Instead, they should disappear between fights but stay after being launched, allowing them to ramp up their power as the fight goes on. 2.) If blades don't stay after being launched, the launch time needs to be reduced on all of the F1-F4 abilities. They need to be throwing those things out fast and often. 3.) Why are traits in the trait line being wasted on condi? A huge portion of any mesmer's condi comes from clone autoattacks. A condi mesmer with no clones is at a fraction of their power. And bleeding on blade crits to boot? Do you think anyone's going to actually put on Rampager's gear? I really like the "blades instead of clones" idea, and the spec has promise, but as it it feels like it was designed by someone who doesn't play Mesmer and just messed around with the class for a little bit and thought "it's really annoying that my clones don't last between fights and I have to resummon them" and didn't put any further thought into the class than that.
  6. I know the Crystal Bloom is Aurene-related, but what are they actually about? What are their beliefs, their principles, their goals, their guiding philosophies? Do they worship her? Are they a cult? A religion? Do they have a leadership structure? Does Aurene tell them what to do? Does Caithe? What do you get out of joining up with them? What happens if you decide to quit?I ask because I'm in an RP guild and one of my characters (a sylvari) has completed their Wyld Hunt and now they're wondering where to go from here, and the Crystal Bloom seems like an interesting option...but I don't know if it'd be for them or not.
  7. Stuck in a match since last night. Save me!
  8. Hammer. The new elite spec can be called the Deadringer. (I wish I could take credit for that, but someone mentioned it in map chat and it was too good not to pass on.)
  9. "When she lifts her hand you have to dodge""How am I supposed to see her lift her hand!?"
