  1. I read just now the quarterly earnings reports from NCSoft for the past two years. Frankly, it's quite shocking that Arenanet has been able to do so much with what they have available. If your company is only pulling in 50 million (USD) per year, you can't have a giant studio. I looked at when PoF was released; basically all that development work only got them another 10-12 million bucks. So... it sort of makes sense when they say, yeah, no more expansions, because basically the ROI is crap. If they keep their numbers stable (as they have been doing) and just have micro-content along with gem shop stuff, it's a heck of a lot easier to deal with than a major release. That being said, I would not expect to ever seen an expansion again. Another horrible thing I read was that the mobile games segment of NCSoft keeps expanding at an obscene rate. As a PC gamer this frightens me, but I guess I am now in the over 35 segment. Another thing I read yesterday was that something like 45% of the world's population is under 25. That means mobile games. To put things in perspective, GW2 is roughly equivalent to Aion at this point. The best thing I could see happen for GW2 would be if somehow Arenanet somehow bought its way out of NCSoft and went independent, got some investments (maybe kickstarter), hired a new CEO that kicked butt, and started working on an ambitious expansion. I think there is still life left in the game but looking at things from a financial perspective, if I were NCSoft's accountants, I would not sink any more $$$ into Arenanet and basically just keep them on maintenance mode. I think the most interesting thing is that people are talking about systems or gameplay mechanics as deciding the fate of GW2 when in effect it is a bunch of accountants sitting in a room together that are determining its fate now.
  2. I am going to apply what I do at work (IT Project Mgr) to Guild Wars 2. When we have huge implementations like company mergers or new ERP systems, the other employees (and the management) expect there to be a captain at the head of the ship, who knows where the ship is going. Even if they get lost, the captain still is there and is confident. Unfortunately, the team here seems to be reactive & passive instead of being proactive and having leadership. This is a horrible downwards spiral and we can see what it has done to other games of this sort (Rift is the most recent, in my opinion).Communication becomes progressively worse, promised deliverables do not appear, and massive firings as well as the executive mgmt jumping ship happen. I've sank both time and money into Guild Wars 2 and as much as I enjoy it, the signs are on the wall.Unless they brought in someone with massive personality & leadership, and announced a new expansion was well underway, this ship is going under.
  3. it is always the same; the people getting banned say they did nothing wrong lol... From the reddit post, it seems that even sharing your account and getting ranked up does not result in a perma-ban? Or did I misread that?
  4. Please take a look here at Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Art-Guild-Wars/dp/1506715990/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=art+of+guild+wars+2&qid=1571730160&s=books&sr=1-1The Complete Art of Guild Wars This is due to be published on March 24, 2020. Question is, does anyone think this may coincide with a secretive, unannounced, expansion?
  5. Hi all - I'd really like to find this hardcover somewhere, along with the novels.if by chance someone has these for sale, please send me a message. Please only if you are in Europe. Thanks!
  6. To be more specific, I bought 2800 Gems.Bought the glider & backpack combo for 700 (NO COMPLAINTS HERE I GOT WHAT I WANTED) Then bought 21 keys for 2100 Gems. After seeing the splash announcement on the Black Market screen this morning, that we could get new Halloween-skinned items for Black Lion Claim Tickets, I thought "Hey, I will put in some money and support the developers and keep the game going, and get a nice skin while I am at it." Do you know how many Black Lion Claim Tickets I got? 0 Do you know how many Black Lion scrap things I got? 6-7. I already had two I believe, thus bringing my total to 9. How many scrap items = one Black Lion Claim Ticket? 10. So basically, 21 bucks down the drain, didn't get a single good item. I can understand trying to make money off of this stuff, but frankly, I got pretty scr3w3d on this deal.I had absolutely NO problem spending the money in the first place, but I guess my assumption I would actually get one of those weapon skins was completely in la-la-land. Lesson learned. How likely am I going to be in the future to spend money and buy gems? 0
  7. I am a noob that came back after 2 years away or so (HoT) and I have never seen these tactivator things and have been pulling them whenever I see them (but it gives some error message). I will read about what they actually do now :)
  8. After reading this post I have realized I have been playing the wrong class (Necro/Reaper). I would much rather do as this guy does.
  9. After having seen the warrior post below, I am curious as to which other professions have the ability to be the first one into the fray, and not get exploded?
  10. I have been playing solo, roaming necromancer in WVW. I have tried with a condition build, as well as a reaper / death magic / soul reaping build that incorporates lots of toughness plus precision and a bit of ferocity. Full disclaimer - I am not by any stretch a professional WVWer. From what I can tell, even with 4000+ armor on my reaper build, the playstyle is such that you run in, assassinate someone in reaper mode, and then get out.Building the 25 stacks and sustaining them is basically impossible because if you are sticking around too long, you are going to get bursted anyways. I have also tried with a condition build but in general I had bad luck with that. The whole carapace mechanic seems completely unsuitable to WVW in my opinion. In PVE I found it was great, combined with a minion build. However, solo open-world minionmaster builds didn't need any help and this carapace mechanic makes what was already good even better, but seems to do nothing for any other type of build in my opinion. Also, stacking toughness still seems stupid to me because I can have (this happened literally two nights ago) 4500+ toughness, AND PROTECTION running, and be bursted in roughly two seconds. I don't even know what I should do in such a situation. Thank you :)
  11. Thank you @Dadnir.5038 - I will try it tonight. I think probably I will end up around 10-15 stacks. Thing is, I won't need to hit 25 for pulsing protection anyways as I won't have Corrupter's Fervor.
  12. Greetings all! Has anyone managed to find a build where you can get the 30 maximum stacks of death's carapace, without having to choose "Corrupter's Fervor?' For example, I would like to run a build with Unholy Sanctuary, but it seems to me that it is basically impossible to build any meaningful amount of stacks unless I am running sort of a specialized build like someone posted about removing conditions with the rune of antitoxin. In PVE/Open World I would not expect to get enough conditions from mobs to make it worthwhile.. p.s. no minions either
  13. Probably are some new super secret builds but as they are secret I doubt anyone would post one :)
