  1. That's a good idea, but I checked and the two builds that she has both either don't have wilderness survival or don't have shared anguish selected. As an added note, this is something interesting that I just experienced. After she put the soulbeast into her specializations and absorbed the pet, she got the ice attack shot at her immediately. Interestingly, after going back to her normal specialization (with the pet), the ice elementals would literally not shoot ice attacks at her at all. They weren't shooting them at the pet or missing, but they just weren't shooting the freeze attack. After leaving combat, putting back on soulbeast, and absorbing the pet, they started shooting freeze attacks again. It almost seems as if there's something in the AI (could be due to them being a special enemy variant) that is causing their freeze attack to just not activate with a pet active. She managed to get frozen and get the skyscale of ice. These enemies certainly are strange, but I appreciate all of the help with this issue.
  2. I'll try both of these suggestions. As far as I'm aware, the pet wasn't body blocking the shot at all. She was standing a good bit of distance to the side of the pet, but the ice attack would only go after the pet. We also tried it at a large distance and closer up, and both situations both yielded the same results of the pet always getting the ice attack instead of the player. I feel like the elite specialization will most likely be the best bet for this, so we'll give it a try. Removing the pet would seem to be the best option for this situation.
  3. DISCLAIMER: I know that you can just go to Bitterfrost Frontier and get frozen by the tornado, but as it stands, she only has LWS4. We both bought LWS4 first and I am the only one who owns LWS3, so the freezing tornado isn't an option. This is a discussion about poorly implemented mechanics that make an enemy prioritize the pet over the player for something that needs to be done for an achievement. So I was trying to help someone complete their skyscale achievements, and they happen to be a ranger. On two separate occasions, we went to the Claw of Jormag event to get frozen by the ice elementals to get the achievements. However, no matter what we do or what happens, the ice elementals will only ever freeze the pet. They will be aggro'd on her and will be attacking her with all of the standard attacks, but the ice prison attack will only ever target the pet and not her. The question I have is this: Why is this like this? It seems like the ice elementals are designed to go out of their way to not attack the player when it comes to the ice attack. Out of the dozens of times they've done a freeze attack, it has ALWAYS been on the pet. The other issue I see is that this is a class-specific issue. I got frozen quite a few times trying to help her get frozen herself, but it was literally impossible to get her frozen because the ice elementals ALWAYS disregarded her (even if they were actively attacking her) and went for the pet.
  4. ...because the unacceptable server conditions of LWS4 and Icebrood Saga (Bjora Marches is an absolute disgrace) would be amplified times ten with a Steam release. If you think having a 2 second stall every 5-10 seconds was bad, just imagine with a considerable player count spike would do. I legitimately can't even play on Bjora Marches (even though I'm trying to complete achievements) because every event I basically get a server stall every time I get into combat and get my entire health bar dropped because I can't activate my healing ability. Combat in this region consists of my entire ability bar flashing for a solid 2 seconds, then all of them being activated at once as the server catches up with it. I'm sure everybody is aware of this, but server conditions are just the worst.
  5. So I've been doing the Skyscale Rider achievements recently in order to get the "Ruler of the Skies" title for my character. When doing this achievement, you get a mistborn mote if you successfully collect all of the volatile magic nodes before picking up the final node. One issue I have seen with this is that some of the volatile magic nodes are too close to the final node, and you end up collecting the final node before getting the volatile magic node and can't get the maximum reward from it. It's not a serious issue or something that prevents you from completing the achievement, but I have noticed a fair few of the rifts are impossible to complete with maximum reward considering how close the volatile magic nodes are to the final node. EDIT: I have a screenshot showcasing what I mean. This particular rift location is in Sandswept Isles, but I also encountered the same issue on other maps as well (Wayfarer Foothills is one that I recall). Notice how I get the notification above the minimap that I completed the achievement step, but one of the volatile magic nodes is still present (above the skyscale's left wing) and I don't receive a mistborn mote for completing the step. It appears that the hitbox for the final node is way too big and results in the volatile magic node not being reachable before completing the rift.
  6. Jackal costs 20g, and OP said they didn't have very much gold to spend. Hm dont remember that =) Among the 5 first mounts, only the Raptor is free; though most others are cheap, gold-wise.Springer costs 1g, Skimmer 4, Jackal 20 (or just over 30 if you haven't done the heart that day). Then there's the more complex to get mounts: Griffon of course takes the cake at 250g, but while the Rollerbeetle doesn't have a gold cost, the Warclaw costs 8g and the Skyscale costs 30g unavoidable, but also has a bunch of things that can be sped up with additional gold.Yep. I had someone ask me why I hadn't gone for the griffon yet, and lack of gold was my response. I didn't even have the gold to spare to buy the jackal, since I was already down about 100 gold from the food/grow lamp alone and more gold was needed for the next step (35 for the saddle components). Griffon is definitely out of the question if I can't even spare the gold for a jackal. I actually figured that out as well. The one on top of the Sanctum in Crystal Oasis can also be reached with the springer + BoF combo. For the one in the big castle in the sky in Desert Highlands, I used the free skyscale treat you receive after starting the collection. It definitely came in handy, since I'm fairly certain a jackal is actually required to reach that one and a springer can't be used to skip that requirement. I'm finally onto the riding skyscape step, and the 250 of each region-based item is driving me insane. I want the skyscale so bad.
  7. So, I've been grinding out my Skyscale for the past few days, and in the "Troublesome Skyscales" Section, there is a location that the wiki claims is only accessible with a griffon or a jackal w/ shifting sands. However, I managed to reach this spot using only a springer w/ high jump and bond of faith mastery. I'm not sure if many people knew about this, but I thought I would pass it along to anyone who may not have known. This was an amazing feat for me, as it ended up saving me 20 gold when I was already pinched for gold as it was (Skyscale training is very expensive). Method: You use your springer to get on the very tip of the pyramid below. After doing so, you do a high jump towards the platform to the south and then leap off of your mount. After doing so, you glide down and land on one of the bottom rocks. After doing so, you can springer jump up to the very top and walk across the sands to get to the skyscale location at the end of it. Again, no clue if anyone knows about this, but I figured I'd post about it just in case.
  8. I'm hoping for the best in regards to no crashes. Should they occur again, I'll have to look into other potential issues, even the ones that I've ruled out. The only one that I am 100% certain isn't the issue is overheating. I've played for hours on end with the temperatures open and have never seen anything go above 70 degrees celcius. The only piece of hardware it could possibly be given that information (I believe) would be the PSU, but it would be a relief if it was (PSUs are relatively cheap compared to GPUs, CPUs, and RAM from my experience).
  9. I did actually check this, and all I can find is a Kernel Power error that, after researching online, basically is just telling me my computer didn't cleanly power down. Obviously that's not helpful information, since I was aware of the issue the second it happened. Unfortunately, I was not able to find anything else that was related to an issue that causes the restarts, as the critical event type consists only of the event related to improper shutdown. The only info I have gathered from this, while not important, is that it only happens once every few days. Since it's so spread out and I've actually gone days without the issue, it seems to be impossible to develop a pattern. There is nothing that I can tell in-game that may cause the issue (High GPU/CPU load) since it has happened in all cases, heavy and light PC load, and seeings as there are no error messages or anything of the sort, I can't get a nod in the right direction from those either.
  10. So, I've been having this problem where I will be playing the game and my computer will randomly restart itself. Guild Wars 2 is the only game that causes this issue, as I frequently play several other games (For example, Rainbow Six: Siege on max settings) and have never had a reset like this. I have been looking up potential issues online, but none of them seem to be helping. There also seems to be no pattern, as it has happened during high intensity events with low FPS (map metas) and low intensity events with high FPS (playing a story mission with not a lot going on). Issues that I know are not the issue: Overheating (I kept a temperature monitoring program on my second monitor and CPU (<70C), GPU (<70C), Motherboard, etc. temps are all well below critical levels. My computer itself is also physically designed for maximum airflow and my room is at a nice 65F, so overheating is definitely not an issue).Hardware-related (As far as I know, all of my computer components are perfectly fine. Since this is the only game that causes this issue AND I play games that push the GPU/CPU more vigorously than this game, I would safely bet that it is not the issue).Issues that may be the problem (Still looking into): iCUE (Corsair Utility Engine) has been giving me a lot of problems on my computer as of late. I had to stop charging my headsets on the PC because plugging/unplugging them caused any game I was playing to crash instantly. Perhaps iCUE doesn't get along well with GW2 and causes a crash somehow.Graphics drivers could be the issue. I don't recall if the problem showed itself after I updated graphics drivers, but it very well could be the issue. I have had a lot of issues with graphics drivers across my gaming history, and it very well could be the culprit again.I can't think of anything else that could possibly be the issue, but any help would be greatly appreciated. While the restarts have never caused me to miss out on anything like loot or having to restart a story mission, it really kills the mood for me personally. EDIT: Another factor I forgot to mention was that I had previously played this game months before on the same PC build with the same exact parts and didn't have crashes related to this at all, so this further increases my belief that it is related to a driver/third-party software related issue and not a hardware-based issue.
