  1. Virtuoso has zero mobility, as in nada. Doubt it will get much added in whatever rework Anet plans to do. It is a dead class to me if it has no ability to kite, close and open gaps, etc.
  2. You speak of the glory days of condi mesmer. We are not getting that back again, just like any traits to enhance glamour skills are gone forever.
  3. It is more noob friendly in PvE, that is it.
  4. Well, the PvE players seem to like it, the competitive players, myself counted, are very meh on the spec. The difference is not likely to be made up by splitting stats between PvE and WvW/PvP. It is the story of two specs in one, that do not translate across modes. Was it designed to be the entry level PvE mesmer spec? The biggest problem for new mesmer players is learning how to get the damage out. When new players post in forums about how to play mesmer, everyone will tell them to unlock Virtuoso and throw daggers at stuff, problem solved. So yeah, PvE it is good, comp play it is bad. If I could somehow get my missing Mirage dodge back, I would forget this spec even existed.
  5. I mean, it kind of seemed to me that we were the standard that the rest of the professions were being balanced against. When we start getting too many easy kills in competitive play, Anet will know they went too far. Right now, we are a high cap class that still has counters, so we are right where any game dev would want us. But the fact that we have received effectively nothing since July 7th seems hateful. The only change we get to the builds we play is based on what they do to the other classes. Hard not to feel like an afterthought. We getting some tough love from Anet right now.
  6. Clones can only be generated for three seconds after using an elite skill. Your Mirage dodge is now changed to a skill called Crawl, where you drop to the ground and act like a slubbling. In competitive play, you now get a huge neon sign above your head, proclaiming you as the actual mesmer. When you actually do make clones, after a one second delay, they claim out loud they do not know you, and try to kill you. When a thief steals to you, they get boons that last for 72 hours. Mirror Blade now heals the enemy. Turning an enemy into a moa also turns you into a pile of bread crumbs for six seconds. Using Confusing Images now causes your character to yell out "Oh boy, here it comes!" before it channels. Queen Jennah is now a necromancer. Mantra of Pain has been changed to Mantra of Feeling a Bit of a Twinge.
  7. I did the math out a while ago to the dismay of a lot of mirage players who couldn't retaliate with much more than "Dodge food isn't in PvP so it's fine." Extended dodge frames with dodge food in WvW ends up putting the Mirage at the same dodge uptime as Acrobatics+Trickery thief. With MC's innate ability to retroactively let the Mirage ignore CC, even without EM, it's kinda well... busted just for its defensive value alone. Mirage just needs a rework. Animation hiding is super bad design and the ability to cast during defenses, have a baseline longer dodge that has basically no visual clarity, and then also baseline let them ignore CC-damage combos is like... super bad design and really unfair if you let them have the same base resource pool as everyone else. It's kinda the same issue as Deadeye in that the specs are based on non-interaction with your opponent while simultaneously having even more expounded visual clarity issues than firebrand. Not to put you on the defensive, but if you think any of the stuff you just cited made the Mirage OP, I would love to see what you think about classes that take no damage and/or block while still doing high burst damage. The fact is, no one who does not play them likes subversion classes, and Anet originally put it at least two of them into the game. With elite specs, it just got completely out of hand. Now, barely a week removed from the patch, you can find unkillable classes roaming in WvW. Mirage is not one of them. The same classes that could sustain forever are still able to do it, with a few exceptions. If this patch was a first step, I sure hope Mirage has seen the worst of its nerfs.
  8. Okay Anet, challenge accepted. I tried all the other professions, and you what? Even with all the ways you tried to make it harder, I still see mesmer as the best class for me. Mirage in particular. See you out there in WvW. I am angry as fuck but when life gives you lemons, you create clones anyway you can and go kill some bitches.
  9. You just described me. I always liked the power mirage, because I like the play style. The risk/reward was worth it to me, because it was fun. I am just an average player, who roams alone and is looking to engage and be engaged. I do not win all my fights, am prone to stupid mistakes, and sometimes just totally screw up a fight. But I always wanted to come back for more, because I felt that the Mirage profession would reward me when I learned something and got better, got more consistent. So for me, two dodges does make a difference to a Mirage in WvW. It is an extra clone for shattering, one more ambush skill, one more trigger of IH, hence more dps. It is a chance to keep fighting, and not resign. It is a double-dodge, to get through a gate that has been all marked up. It is two sword leaps, to try a catch a fleeing foe, or to get away from one. The loss of overall damage is fairly substantial, and hampers what is supposed to be a burst/aversion class, but the loss of the second dodge did it for me. It is just an ugly, slow, cumbersome play style now that cannot match the gap opening/closing of other professions. Ones we used to be able to match up with. Outnumbered fighting? It got that much harder. To the bold, goes the nerfs. At it's inception, we had two dodges, longer super speed and three Jaunts. Today we do not, we are down a dodge and a Jaunt, with less super speed. Did Anet fail to calculate just how good the class would be? Because now it feels like Anet is saying Mirage was a mistake. Two for two Anet, on the mesmer elites. Mesmer is no longer my main. If Anet decides to revert this change, I would come back in a heart beat. Without, it is just a bridge too far. To harken back to an old GW2 official forum meme, I am falling down the leaderboards, my wife has left me. All is vain. If anyone has any suggestions for a new profession to main in WvW roaming, I am all ears. I ran some power DE last night, tonight it will be Engi for reset. twododges #makemiragegreatagain
  10. RIP Mirage in WvW. I don't play PvP anymore, so I cannot comment on that situation. But I can think of no other profession that is so convoluted that neither of it's elite specializations are usable in a competitive game mode. Does anyone remember way back when Anet took the reveal on thief from 2 sec to 3 sec, and it was totally unplayable and had to be reverted? This dodge debacle is like that. It is a terrible implementation, Anet needs to admit they underestimated the impact it would have, and give us our second dodge back. And then we can talk about how bad the Mirage deception ult skills are, and why Mirage Cloak generated from mirrors is not a replacement for having vigor and two dodges.
