  1. Yes, old PC that gave really good FPS was: i9-10KF, NVIDIA 3080 10GB, 64GM RAM, 1TB SSD. New PC: i9-11KF, NVIDIA 3090, 128GB RAM, 2TB SSD. In both cases I was using the same set-up and playing at 1440p. I have found there is some sort of design feature between the motherboard used and this 11th Gen processor that locks the RAM in gear 2. It seems a poor choice to pair a higher speed RAM while not allowing manual memory controller gear ratio control. This could only be recitfied by changing the RAM I think, or even the motherboard. My temps on the new PC are 75 C.
  2. Hello! I had a prebuilt I bought last November; I would have built my own but the parts shortage is the world is a thing, heh! Unfortunately it broke about a month ago or so; and the company gave me a newer model as a replacement. On my old PC, the performance was blistering. I was genuinely surprised to have such high FPS in a game like GW2, which I know notoriously struggles with high and consistent FPS. With my new PC, I have experienced about 50-80 less FPS consistently in the game; even though this PC has better specs that my old one. I ran some checks and did some troubleshooting, obviously did stuff like uninstall and reinstall drivers; and in the end I found I have huge RAM latency (95ns). Also it seems my RAM is stuck in gear 2 for some reason. Would this RAM issue possibly be causing this FPS loss compared to my old PC? Nothing else in my set-up has changed. As a point of interest, I recently was given a work laptop which has great specs. I have found that this laptop is actually getting the same FPS as this brand new desktop...which doesn't seem right.
  3. I actually found Piken Square to be a lot of fun! I found a Guild and realised that's where the fun comes mostly in any WvW experience. I would say NA and EU play differs slightly - I didn't see a lot of GvG in WvW on NA; and I haven't seen much pugmanding on EU. I will still miss the HOD community and the friendly pugmanders - but I am having a blast atm on Piken. :)
  4. Yeah, I am definitely picking up this vibe on Piken Square at least. I am finding even if there is an open tag in quiet hours, a lot of the people on the map won't follow it or co-ordinate. The issue with poor builds is a big problem too. I think I really liked HoD because it does have a stable community feel - some of the players I bump into I have seen around for the last 5 years. I guess that's the most important thing for me - server loyalty and the people make it WvW more fun. I didn't realise some of my friends in Singapore playing on HoD have a 200-300 avg ping! Makes my 80-150 avg not too bad I guess.
  5. Yeah the ping was very high - but now I don't bother playing WvW mostly because the state of the players really is that bad overall :/ I think I will have to transfer back to NA.
  6. Somebody drank the EU koolaid average ping dropped by 50-80 by moving to EU. O.oOh, wow. Mind revealing which region you live in?I live in U.K. Not only has the average ping dropped by that much, but the "normal" lag spikes you get with 3 zergs on the map don't happen as much for me now - and they aren't as bad. Only problem is T1 EU (moved to Piken Square) is nothing like T1 NA. Not to trash talk but many, many PVE players fill the WvW maps and do not want to push or fight. It's very hard without a tag to get any coordination - even with a tag it's still difficult. :/ Might go back to NA...seems like better players overall in WvW.
  7. Somebody drank the EU koolaid Had to, average ping dropped by 50-80 by moving to EU.
  8. Hello! I would like to join and learn fractals and raids if you are still recruiting!
  9. Hey guys, just transferring from NA. Which server on EU has a good amount of guilds organised with Discord? I am more into guild vs guild fights (blobbing) than PPT. I tried Piken Square which is T1, but it seems to be mostly PVERS? Haven't seen many open tags or guild activity despite it being T1. I also tried Desolation last week, and it's kind of dead. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
  10. Thank you, I will give it a try. Any recommendations for a good EU WvW server? I see Desolation and FSP are open currently. I like blob fights but also comped havocing - so any servers with dedicated and competitive Guilds for that would be cool!
  11. Ahh, 70-90 sounds good. My average ping when just roaming in WvW is 70-150 - which I guess is bad?. So it seems like maybe I would get lower ping on EU servers.
  12. Hello! I've always played on an NA server since GW2 began, as my old GW1 Guild joined on one of these servers, however I live in U.K. I have become a WvW focused player and lately I am struggling with lag spikes/ping of around 4k at times during prime-time and with 3 zergs on a map. My ping when it is quiet and I am roaming or havocing is usually around 100-250. I enjoy blob fights, so I am kinda sad about these big spikes. My internet is great, as is my PC; so I was just wondering would I notice an improvement in this if I transferred to an EU server; as geographically I will be closer to it? Or are these lag spikes "normal" these days in WvW? My worse spikes are usually Saturday night U.K time (I guess around midday NA time); almost unplayable in big groups. Thanks!
  13. Oh wow, thank you so much for this. I did not know this so was getting frustrated.
  14. This is happening to me too only on Saturday evenings in WvW and PvP 8pm U.K time. I am on an NA server so I assume that is the middle of the day there and so peak time.
  15. Hey, I am not sure if this is a bug - but it's really annoying. I play my Mesmer in WvW and charge up my mantras ('Mantra of Pain' and 'Mantra of Distraction'.) If I have to cross water or fall into it; I have to recharge my mantras once out the water which is kinda clunky for WvW combat. If they are already charged once you go into water, is there a way for them to still be charged once you come out? Just thought I would mention it in case it can ever/will ever be changed.
