  1. Not to mention when the changes also transfer to PvP mode, making the "balance" way more unrealistic lol
  2. Ive only tested Cata with staff. I have to say that quickness+meteor shower is pretty huge. The meteors drop very quickly. The glyph of the torm (lightning) is very good to get energy aswell, since its like 36 hits in a few seconds. I thought the water augment would be kinda of OP, but it lasts for so little, the dmg is not high and it doesnt proc multiple times at the same time (ICD), so u gotta manage to do many consecutive hits. Works kinda well with lighting storm glyph, but thats 2 utility slots that u use tgt just for a meh result. With the extra fields and finishers (you can use earth 1 as finisher aswell!) you can get many auras however its not enough to get max stacks consistently. They last for a few seconds only, forcing you to focus specifically in granting auras, making u put ur "job" in second place. In conclusion id say when/if they buff/tweak the catalyst is going to be a 'good' (not terrible) spot for a offensive staff build. On top of that i also expect some Staff buffs/tweaks aswell, altho i guess its only happening after EoD release.
  3. After all this time, all those threads, i actually think Anet will do something about Staff. Tho im afraid it will come only with EoD, being way too late. There is way to much going on in the MMO community (new MMOS and new stuff on the old ones), and by the time EoD releases i dont think i will be playing GW2 anymore. Its a shame.
  4. i dont quite get ur idea about the orbs and F5. If F5 shoot the orbs, then how about the other weapons? Anyway, utility could grant some fields and/or finishers, since the spec is all about it (i dont know how they didnt think of it honestly).
  5. I think F5 could work like this: if you cast it on fire, the field will remain on fire. Then u can F5 again on another attunement to change the field AND reposition the orb. I honestly dont get why, at the moment, if you press F5 again you CANCEL the skill and LOSE all the energy lol You should at least have some energy back. Also the 2% damage per aura stack has to last twice as long. Even fighting golems its kinda hard to hit max stacks. Utility skills gotta have some use...srsly. Im not using a single one of them. Not the heal, utility or elite. The utilities seems like traits, they have pretty much no animation. They are just buffs, like: here, have some dmg. For 5 sec your skills inflict minor AoE dmg. Cuz its hard/underwhelming building up energy, i just make use of this new e-spec to gain access to quickness. If i had a core utility that granted me 5sec of quickness i wouldnt be using the Catalyst i think.
  6. yeah i also was confused by this. I immediatley thought "ok, another auramancer" lol
  7. So the utility "Shattering ice" will trigger an AoE attack to nearby enemies with an 1/4 ICD. I guess Staff's AoE might have got buffed by this, no? Like hitting a bunch of ppl with AoE's will proc more AoEs. Well... idk lol, im just wondering if we can make staff viable with the Catalyst, speacially now that we have a good access to quickness.
  8. I think that many changes could be done apart of WvW (or not as much). Tryin to play DPS staff is impossible in sPvP (plat1+). If the enemy team realizes (and they will!) u are a dmg spec staff Ele, their assassin (rev or thief mostly) will jump on you, and you wont be able to kill them, just run for your life or till you die lol. In a 5v5, staff AoEs are much easier to deal with. A meteor show could be easily avoided and if u are not glass cannon then the dmg will be laughable (imagine if the first meteors dont crit, with the -10% dmg reduction). Auto attacks are just...bad. Staff skills are meant for the 2012-2015 GW2, feels like it need a rework/buff to make it viable in 2021+.
  9. yup, i gave up for now. I think its time to take another big break
  10. I agree with you, the slower the balance cadence the less things they break and the more time we got to adapt to the things that have been previously broken. Personally i dont mind the changes after there were done. But i think the lack of changes/tweaks afterwards is a huge problem. I see those changes as a reset, as a base line to build a new "meta" on. Instead, they treated it as the whole structure, as if it was good and done as it is. For example: all those 300 ICD traits are unsued. We got trait lines with 2 major traits instead of 3 cuz of that.
  11. Honestly they are kinda similiar, truly. You cant dodge the condi "tick" but u can avoid their application, just like fighting vs power. I think that the hate comes from having to deal with heavy power AND condi pressure. Rarely u can deal with both in the same build, being a non-bunker.
  12. Hum, if by "the new class" you mean revenant, then u took a break looong ago. Usually when u take a break you come back very rusty, and after so many patches (and elite specs!) you kinda dont know what you are dealing with. Right now i feel that any ranger "type" (core, druid and soulbeast) can do just fine, in the right hand. Now about the damage: There was a massive dmg nerf, Feb/2020. So what i feel is that many ppl are running Zerk/Dmg oriented traits, cuz if they dont, bunkers would rain.
  13. I just want them to care a little bit more about their PvP community. Like even pretending to care would be something.
  14. want to see: Proper balance patches dont want to see: Lack of balance patches
