  1. Hope not chests with those dyes in them are among the worst ones, think that's reflected in the price chests are selling for. I take it that means they used to sell for more than five silver? They vary though out the year, on occasions they sell for more than 7s. You sell that dye quickly you get about 30 silver and that won't vary much, yet in other chests you have a chance of 5 gold, I quite like the WvW ones. They change the contents every so often. I have thought about just keeping the keys when dyes are on offer I'm sure some people do.

  3. No, you are wrong. The compensation is based on time of log in, not on lost progress. There are people who have suffered 0 lost progress but are eligible for the mount skin just because they logged in during the announced time period. I repeat: ELIGIBILITY TO COMPENSATION IS NOT BASED ON LOST PROGRESS. And that is the major problem here, not the part where people who actually lost something, need to submit tickets / do "paperwork" to get lost items back etc are compensated. The lesson there of course is, if this kind of thing happens just login and log out again. Just so they can see you were about at the time.
  4. I did lose, I lost all the progress I could have done if the game had been working correctly.I did login btw although only briefly. What gets up my goat, is that people that knew there was a problem so avoided playing as to not make the situation worse may not get any compensation, whereas people that knew there was a problem but carried on playing anyway will get compensation.
  5. We were told not to log in to avoid possible data corruption, so I did. Whatever the way you put it, I lost progress too, I lost the things I could have do IG if there were no server issues. Some did log in anyway and duped items, some were not aware. They will get the free mount skin. Those who listened will not receive the free skin. It's like giving a 100$ to someone driving drunk or who hasn't seen the speed limit sign. Who told you not to log in to avoid data corruption? Iirc it was being said by some on the forums. What sensible player would continue playing a game where they know the data is incorrect or missing, and is most likely going to be corrected. There will have been a lot of people who wouldn't have known until they logged in and started playing and perhaps not noticed straight away. Plus the discovery was only made by people playing in the game - so there will have been a lot of people losing progress without immediately realising it at first until the news spread. And even then, there's no way of knowing how far that info spread because we know the forums do not account for the largest portion of the playerbase. If I had logged in, it prob would have taken me a while to notice my achievements weren't right and that some things from the weekend had gone. Luckily, I am 100% restored now. So people lost time and progress through no fault of their own - at least in the early part of the situation. Ultimately it doesn't matter. I think Anet will bow under the pressure of feedback anyway. I don't think that is something they should do, but I do think they will do it regardless.Any player that plays daily should have noticed not only that it would have been talked about enough in-game. I noticed on the character page I could see it was a roll-back before I even entered the game. Spent about a minute in-game didn't even bother to take the daily reward as that most likely would have been lost when they corrected the data.

  7. Actually, for the most part that's fairly accurate. There may have been a few that didn't know any different, but most would have known.
  8. You have to realize that the intention of he compensation won't change how players will feel about it, and trying to shoehorn a rationalization of it in their faces will only add insult to injury and make them feel like you are laughing at their faces. Players who didn't log in because they thought that losing 2 gold and some spirit shards and a day of daily login reward was better than risking damage to their account now are being faced with a reality in which they would have still missed those 2 gold, a bag of spirit shards and a daily login reward but in exchange get for a free mount skin. So like it or not, they will feel like they are being punished for doing what they believe was right. You can't talk people out of that feeling, and telling them to suck it up will only make things worse and add insult to injury. Well no one has been punished. People got compensation for having progress taken away - many of which were unaware of the issues at the time. Those who didn't log in lost nothing apart from potential. Potential losses and actual losses are not equal in this case. If Anet gives the mount to everyone, then those who lost progress still are no better off. And we are right back to square one. Sadly for the rest you are right. It is unfortunate players just see the reward and not the reasoning, but human nature is what it is and the compensation culture is unfortunate. Doesnt necs mean Anet should pander to it though What progress ? The only condition for getting the mount is having logged in.Every people who logged in by curiosity will be rewarded while people who waited patiently for resolution will not get anything. That's basically saying "next time, EVERYONE tries to log in so it's even more complicated to resolve the issue".That can't be right as I was logged in at one point and didn't get anything.
  9. Well put! I disagree I logged on immediately saw there was an issue on the character page, although I did log into the game but then decided to log out again as I didn't want to mess the characters up expecting they would put it right. A lot of those if nearly all would have known there was an issue yet decided to carry on playing, That was their choice and their risk. I play only one game only so whilst this game was not available I wasn't playing anything in fact ended up on the forum here for awhile something I don't normally do. But later when I tried to get back on the forums as the game was still being worked on I couldn't, what ever happened here got my email account locked for suspicious activity and that email is only used for GW2. Finally managed to get it unlocked after about 2 hours on a phone (2 calls). So I'm guessing the forums check to see if there is a valid email address when you log in to the forums. So you say we didn't lose anything, well we lost time playing the game as we found there was an issue. We did not feel there was much of a choice as didn't see the point of playing when the data was incorrect. In fact I'm only on the forum now because someone said in-game about the compensation and not receiving any came here find out why.
  10. Unless you have problems, there is no need to come to the foruns. My progress didn t chage since Friday and I am doing missions for 2h. how the hell should I know there may be a problem? The more time it passes, without in game notice or server lockdown the more the rollback shouldn t happen. You are trying to save your 2 hours and asking others to give up, up to 3 days lose. Why should your 2 hours be more important than other peoples 3 days (approx.)?
  11. you are right, but this time it's a 3 day rollback and TP is bugged currently (people are screaming in wvw map for gold lost). The main point of the post is : why the server is still up ? It should be down for maintenance even if there are no backup to restore The length of the rollback doesn’t matter. If there’s a rollback, it’s likely because there was no other option. It should only be down if there are integrity issues. An extremely rare case of a rollback is not one of them. You are free to not log into the game for the meantime until you feel that it will be safe for you to play again. Well if they don't restore it, my 45 character will have to sit in mothballs, as I won't waste any more time on a game that can't be maintained properly. I have a feeling that you’ll still be playing regardless. you are right, but this time it's a 3 day rollback and TP is bugged currently (people are screaming in wvw map for gold lost). They can just shut down the TP. There’s no need to shutdown the entire game. If you think that, then you should really not rely on your feelings.
  12. That's 45 characters not a 45 character btw. Not sure where the post edit is, don't normally bother with the forums.

  14. Even if they are assessing the situation they still should keep their customers informed.Even if it just- we are aware of the issue and are trying to resolve it and will keep you informed. Even that simple statement would be better than nothing.
  15. I agree, and they could send a message here in the forum stating that they are working on it, just to stop a lot of similar threads, but nothing at the moment.... That's true. Maybe they are still asleep (USA GMT -8 or whatever). The communication could be better indeed. Nothing left for us to do except waiting.Well I hope they're not asleep with this issue at least not all of them. If the servers are still open all those still playing will lose anything they do presently, which is why people like myself are avoiding playing the game presently. Guess you could use it as a chatroom but not much point doing anything else atm. They really need to make a statement at least says they're trying to resolve the issue and will keep us informed.
