  1. Take Warpblade, for instance. There are some jewelry pieces associated with that collection that I don't actually want/need for my elementalist, but would help out alts. If I soulbind pieces to other characters, will that lock me out of being able to complete the collection?
  2. Super helpful, thank you! That will certainly simplify things as I enjoy Verdant Brink events anyhow.
  3. So it's gonna be awhile before I can remotely afford to craft full Trailblazer's, which is my ultimate goal for my main. Dire, I can afford in exotic. Or I can use the Elonian rare armor we get and shift it to Trailblazer stats. Do you guys think the stat dip is worth the more optimal spread of Trailblazer's, or should I just stick with exotic dire until I can match it with exotic Trailblazer? If I go the dire route I could always gear up an alt with the Elonian, since I'd mostly be putzing around zerg farming on her.
  4. You must have a much better sense of direction than I then :p Usually in games I rely on the husband for navigation since he has great spacial awareness (think 3D modeling ... watching him work on wire frames still makes my head spin), while I do the puzzles and the reading requirements. Alas, I am alone and out of my element on this one. I will say once I did finally get to all the story triggers I needed, the rest of the exploration was less frustrating since the maps are so pretty -- but still, have pity on the directionally challenged ANet. :) EDIT: I do see your point though. I suppose I just hate feeling stupid, lol. I am very much looking forward to running through the DLC with my sylvari druid, both for story reasons and pet acquiring reasons (I like to stumble across them), so here's hoping I have a similar experience. My poor main (human ele) is the one going through the crucible for her lol.
  5. That's not at all my complaint -- horizontal progression is one of this game's strong suits. I'd just like to know if points of interest/vistas/etc. are reachable in my current state, or require certain masteries to reach. I think the HoT maps are absolutely gorgeous -- not my complaint at all. I do enjoy wandering around and poking in corners, as well, and puzzling things out for myself as much as possible. Maybe that's my problem -- I just need to ask for help more :P
  6. Ahah, I'm still playing about with that since I got back. Thanks so much, I will definitely do a deeper dive and get those set up. Had no idea you could hotkey. :)
  7. So I'd like to putz around on my baby druid (still need some hero points, but) with a staff in open world. What I plan to do on her:1.Use Staff, for theme and fun visuals Event trains (see below)Putzing around on my own in PvEIf/when I finally max out the Druid line, and if I feel like I have a better grasp on the class (returning after many years gone in GW2) I will look at some of the meta raid/fractal builds, but not yet. What I WOULD like to do is be reasonably competent on my own, while tossing out plenty of buffs/heals in event trains. I looked at metabattle and found Event Staff Farmer, but it claims to have little soloability. I've been testing trying to just use a longbow to solo and doesn't seem too painful so far (although I prefer shortbow tbh gameplay-wise) but maybe I just haven't hit the right content yet. Can anyone give suggestions to let me keep my staff/buffing/healing setup without being miserable if I go off on my own?
  8. but it does tell you for those instances where it's a hard requirement such as the popups telling you need a particular mastery when running through the mushrooms You misunderstand. I know when I click on a mushroom it tells me etc. But that Hero Challenge over there, can I get to it without Updraft? Did I just spend 45 minutes trying to get there and it's physically impossible right now? That's the frustrating part. Not the grind @ the "you must be new" person. The lack of feedback in that particular area. And again, I love exploration, thus my 100% completion of the base game. Sometimes I'd just like to bang out a few story episodes as I actually am in the mood for them.
  9. Came back after a long time and bought the expansions. I did 100% map completion on the base game because the game is beautiful and I enjoyed it, not because it gave me anything significant. The moment I realized I had -- HAD -- to train certain things the game didn't warn me about to progress the story made exploration immediately feel like a grind instead of fun. I don't want to spend 80% of my gaming time on the wiki and 20% on actually playing. I'm just on the Maguma expansion. Hopefully it gets better after, but it makes me fully resent an activity I used to fully enjoy. Sure, part of it is that I have a terrible sense of direction and have trouble navigating in 2D, let alone 3D. But there's that added layer now of me going "Well, can I not get there because I'm tragic at navigation, or can I not get there because I haven't unlocked something I don't know I need to unlock yet?" Woof. Loved exploring the OG maps and jumping puzzles. HoM feels like a humongous chore. (Yes, yes, late to the party and this has probably been said before, but if I keep playing -- please, for the love of all that is holy, don't continue this path. I'm still not going to buy XP boosters to progress faster in the grind. Cosmetics, yes, sign me up, but not that, so instead of getting some money from me for things I enjoy, it'll be no money for things I don't because I just left the game instead of being forced into activities to enjoy the story.)
  10. Tried on 2 different cards, mine and my husband's. Neither are showing issues at the bank, but I keep getting a "payment failed" message.
  11. Thanks so much folks. <3 Busy making a spirit plank a day in that case then.
  12. So I get to 425, do the first quest, go to the sylvari area. I find the Varietal Seeds, talk to the Mender gardener guy, and now he tells me to go craft the composter. According to the in-game tooltip I'm supposed to craft it; according to wiki, I'm supposed to get the chef in the Grove to craft it. She doesn't have the option, and I can only find the ascended recipe version of the composter in my list. What am I missing? EDIT: I read right over a search result that suggested repairing my game to someone with the same problem. Trying that now.EDIT 2: Nope, no dice.
  13. I love love love this. What a neat idea and what beautiful execution. <3
  14. After many years away, I decided that not only would I try my hand at GW2 again, I'd also try my hand at tweaking a Reshade preset from scratch. In celebration of my grand return, I gave myself the goal of taking the game's painterly aesthetic and shifting it to evoke watercolour. (You decide how well I did. :B ) Thus "L'Ete" (inside joke) was uploaded here on Reshade's preset site. I expect it'll have limited appeal, but it's there if anyone wants. :) There are comparison screenshots on the download page, but here are a few: Note that it does affect the UI (my attempts to prevent that failed, though I may revisit a few things) but it is still very legible imo and it's tweaked for regular gameplay, not just screenshotting.
