  1. Personally I'm really disappointed that Anet's recent moves which have basically made Scrapper sub par in every game mode except large scale WvW. I'm a Scrapper main. I love Scrapper. I think it brings a lot to the table, ,but often utility is undervalued by others,, especially if they don't play Scrapper themselves. So finding groups where you are wanted post EoD is much harder. Pre-EoD I liked being able to play qDPS or Quick Heal in PvE but now every group is like, 'Mech please!' for Engi Heal support. The qDPS variant isn't that desirable either as other quickness providers can significantly outdps us. It's a really sucky feeling atm. I mean, I guess Holo mains might feel similar too? I don't know as I never play Holo. I can play Mechanist but personally I just don't love doing so. Lately I've been logging in, looking at LFG and just logging back off cause I know I'll have to play Mech if I want to find a group.
  2. 10000 x THIS. There is so much talk about raising the skill floor by the Devs, but for god's sake, do not lower the ceiling please! A significant player base WANTS a challenge. They want to min/max their DPS. They want the satisfaction of mastering a difficult spec to top the DPS meter. The do NOT want to play their assess off pianoing a difficult spec only to be beaten on DPS by someone pressing 111111111 and the occasional 2.
  3. Perhaps this info is coming at a later date, but I would REALLY love to hear from the Dev team about what their vision is for the different classes/elite specialisations. I'm an Engi main so I will come at this from that point of view, but I think this question could be asked of most other classes too. I main Scrapper and after the Quickness update, but before EoD I was having a great time playing Scrapper. It felt viable in many different game modes. Heal Quick and qDPS were great in Raids. I could tank in raids if required with some tweaks. I could do okay power DPS in raids, though it wasn't great compared to many others, it wasn't embarrassing. Heal Scrapper is obviously Meta in WvW. Open World play was fun with our barrier generation. Then the dev team came along and nerfed our barrier, making our open world play a lot less fun, and nerfing our PVE DPS on a power DPS build because we can't as easily stay in melee range to get that DPS out. I still for the life of me, don't understand why that nerf was necessary. The Mech was released with EoD. Now, correct me if I am wrong but apart from in WvW I see no reason for anyone to take a Scrapper over a Mechanist in any PVE/Open world content. It out performs Scrapper in DPS, it provides better support and has more functionality than Scrapper in raids. Other classes can now provide quickness while doing better DPS than a qDPS Scrapper so why take one? I feel like my Scrapper is becoming obsolete in anything other than WvW. And you know, I'd like to play my Scrapper in other areas as well. It seems like you've decided that Scrapper is only allowed to be really good at being a healing cleanse-bot in WvW, yet Mechanist is allowed to be good at DPS, Healing/Support and functions well in Open World, PvE, and I'm even seeing quite a few in WvW now. I don't PvP so I can't speak to that. Why are some specs allowed to be SO good at SO many things in multiple areas of content but others are not?
  4. I actually put out more dps using the flamethrower than the rifle. It was close, rifle was like 25k and flamethrower 26k. My rifle isn't slotted for sigils though (but that would affect the flamethrower numbers as well as I still technically have the rifle equipped). I used full zerker with scholar runes and that was without buff food.
  5. I mean, I kinda agree it is not the rifle, but Mechanist that is pumping too hard. I tried rifle on my full power DPS Scrapper build and hammer still significantly out performed rifle. Mechanist obv obliterated Scrapper though. I swear, trying to make DPS Scrapper a thing is like trying to make Fetch happen, and yet I'm still trying.....lol.w
  6. I'm not sure why it is a problem for a QDPS scrapper to be able to tank easily. Plenty of other support specs can do so. Heal Quick scrapper can tank, Hfb can tank to name a few. It isn't as if a mega high dps build was able to tank. Qscrapper is still support with a lower dps as a result. As far as accessibility, why is it an issue if an 'easier' option exists? There are plenty of 'easy' DPS options, plenty of 'easy' healing options. What wrong with an 'easy' tanking option? I don't think scrappers tanking was breaking the game in any way. Unlike some other builds we could mention that are still SUPER OP and have been for years......
  7. Yes, Scrapper absolutely did not need the barrier nerf, at least not in PVE ( I can't comment as to PvP as I don't play it much). Scrapper DPS was already lowish in raids/fractals etc, and that just got worse. The biggest nerf has been to Open World fun and I don't know why Anet feels the need to nerf that....
  8. Let's not try and fix something that isn't broken. Engi has enough issues that actually need some attention. This is not one of them.
  9. If it ain't broke........ Seriously, there are enough engi issues without kittening around with something that actually works well.
  10. Yesterday I had this issue and I changed mine to just Gw2.exe and it worked
  11. Yes, it is absolutely unnecessary. We know there is a Gem Store, we know where to find it. It's a little bit obnoxious having it highlighted all the time, and present in story cut scenes etc.
  12. So I was initially not that bothered by the change. But now having played it more, I'm definitely not a fan. While it isn't a *big* deal in open world, it is starting to get irksome in PVE. I guess they just don't want Scrapper to have a decent DPS option cause my reduced survivability makes me move off the boss a lot more, which reduced DPS. Also, and I know this isn't intended gameplay but still..... I was Soloing T1 Urban Battleground and after wiping on the final boss at least 10 times as a DPS Scrapper (trying a variety of traits and gear options, and with a decent amount of experience and skill playing scrapper) I ended up just having to play Heal quick and I healed the NPCs while they killed the boss for me. /sigh
  13. I LOVE engi. I started the expac as Scrapper to maintain some realistic RP cause how would I know about Mechanist before getting to Cantha? After I met the Mechanist NPC in game I decided I can spec it now. I was a mechanist for like 5 minutes before I realised I have no heart for it at all, and cba even using it. Like, it sparked zero joy in me. Back to Scrapper and immediately felt happy again. And the Mech is still not useable underwater? Come on Anet........
  14. SO. MUCH. YES. I am actually flabbergasted that they didn't implement this change before launch. Also, why just ONE skill from the mech underwater? I see no reason the mech can't still support us from above with the same number of F-skills that it has on land. Or was doing a few extra animations to much work? I LOVE engi. 15. Yeah, I actually am enjoying the slightly increased challenge and being forced to think about where I am standing and not just blindly face-tank.
