  1. If Mesmer's Rifle wants to compete with other top-tier support classes, it - for sure - needs more to it than the current iteration, especially on support Mirage. The fact that you don't get either Alacrity or Quickness with it really hinders the effectiveness of this weapon. If you play support Mirage you constantly have to switch between Rifle and Staff. Rifle ONLY heals, staff ONLY gives Alacrity. This is a big problem and feels bad to play. So if you are in an urgent situation and your allies need burst healing (which Rifle has little to begin with), they have to wait until you can switch weapon again to Rifle, since Staff has zero healing capability. It makes this weird gameplay-loop where you can only use 50 % of your support kit at a time. No other support-class has that. Druid can always jump into Avatar form, heal AND give Alacrity at the same time. They have many utilities, healing skills and an elite that actually gives good healing and support. The Mesmer doesn't have that. Healing Mantra is not enough of a burst heal, considerung you have to recharge it as well. The other healing abilities are tied to shattering clones which is counter-intuitive since clones heal and give Alacrity with Infinite Horizon. Honestly, I think you should change the Alacrity buff to apply on Rifle Ambushes as well or make it apply to any Ambush skill in general with a trait (with a reduction of damage if you take that trait). In my opinion Mirage as a whole elite specialization needs a trait-rework to begin with but for now this would be the easiest "fix" to actually make Rifle Mirage usable. Staff would still need to get some more support abilities to compete with Rifle, maybe tie it to traits so Staff can be also used for healing allies in some way. Also, the portal on skill 5 should have a way longer duration to make it useful. Why not give it 20 seconds duration and make it usable for 5 players? Then it would help a lot and be a niche weapon. Another big problem I have: Every skill on Rifle just takes too long. If you need CC you have to cast skill 4 AND wait until the sharpshooter shoots. If you want to have a portal fast you first have to use the skill 5 and then use it again to flip the skill over into a portal. Same goes for skill 3 if you want to have burst healing, you need to use it, wait, use it again and then the heal comes after a delay. Same thing with skill 2. They need to be way faster especially if you want to use them in fractals or raids where you often need fast CC or healing. Off-topic: I think Infinite-Horizon should be basekit, since it's the entire theme of Mirage - blending in with your clones. Then balance the elite specialization around that. I'd love to have different Grandmaster traits that either give Alacrity or Quickness to allies when using an Ambush attack depending on which trait you use. Then Heal-/Support-Mirage would be in a great state if Rifle gets some tweaks as well.
  2. Yes! I'm so excited that it's a two-handed weapon after 3 elite specialization weapons that gave 2 or 3 skills only.
  3. Totally! Main-hand pistol would be weird for a new elite specialization since we can already use pistol in our off-hand. This expansion would have been the perfect time to give us core main-hand pistol.

  5. With the announcement of Secrets of the Obscure, ANET confirmed that we will be getting the rifle as a new core weapon. My first thought was "What?" to be honest. It seems the least fitting weapon for a mage that focuses on manipulation and illusions. But I'm sure the developers will make it work somehow! They made greatsword and dagger work well too. I was sure they would give us main hand pistol though. I'm curious about the playstyle of the weapon. I feel we need a proper healing weapon but without a dedicated elite specialization that would be not that good. So I think rifle will be a ranged weapon that focuses on condition damage since we lack such weapon. Dagger virtuoso doesn't count since the condition build relies on the virutoso traitline mostly. Also, we get new ambush skills for mirage with rifle and dagger! What are your thoughts about all of that? EDIT: Link https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/combat-in-guild-wars-2-secrets-of-the-obscure/
  6. At first I was skeptic but after thinking about it I really like the idea of weapons being availabel to all elite specs. Some classes like Engineer only have a few weapons to begin with. It allows for new build diversity and some specs even get new skills from them like unleashed attacks or mirage cloak. I'm just a little bummed they don't introduce new core utility, heal, elite skills like ranger elite trap or mesmer clone heal. Each class has some skills missing to have at least 5 skills of each type.
  7. A music inspired mesmer elite spec would be my dream. I made a concept of it here if you want to check it out:
  8. I changed it to "fourth" now 😄 arenanet just confirmed a fourth expansion so we can still dream of an actual music themed mesmer spec!
  9. I've been doing great dps in PvE with my condi build. Since the buff to bleeding it's even better. I came up with a build that is very similar to snowcrow's latest video. At least the spec does good dmg now.
  10. It could be their decision but at least we give feedback so they could reconsider it. It's not fun having to spend all time on dagger when you want to play condi virtuoso.
  11. Literally nobody said "I won't buy EoD because of virt" in this thread. We simply pointed out an obvious design flaw and problem that has to be addressed. How the devs do that is not our problem, we can only give suggestions like simply buffing damage numbers. You say we don't give good feedback when we actually do that. We literally spend our free time going on an online forum to talk about a problem we see in a video game. What more could you want?
  12. Our job as a community is to point out design flaws and give feedback based on gameplay. The devs adjust based on that. They could just buff staff and scepter damage on virtuoso or make a trait do that. Easy. Done. There is no way talking around this obvious design flaw that restricts build variety by a lot. They HAVE to address this issue at some point.
  13. Most of the damage of staff and scepter comes from condition application from your clones. Virtuoso gets rid of clones which makes those two weapon basically worthless for this elite spec in terms of damage. This should definitely be addressed, together with "Sharper Images: Illusions inflict bleeding on critical hits". This trait is a big part of mesmer's condition damage and it's basically useless on Virtuoso as well. It only works on phantasms anymore and they don't attack often anyway. It's one of many design flaws of virtuoso that should be addressed to not limit build diversity even further. I mean, condition builds require daggers in both weapon sets which is boring. In PvP condition Virtuoso is not viable either because of the minimal damage from staff and scepter.
  14. I love the blades personally. I always wanted an effect on mesmer like soulbeast do when merged.
  15. 3) SO TRUE! I don't understand how the devs didn't think about all the nerfed condi potential of staff and scepter without clones that apply conditions. Those two weapons feel so useless on virtuoso.
