Happened again today in Convergences. Edit: I'm going to start dropping the Sound Quality to Fastest when doing Convergences and see if that helps.

Modern computers are designed to hit their thermal limit as soon as possible and throttle down, you could contact your laptop manufacturer and ask them if this is too hot though just in case.

Just set your governor to schedutil, schedutil will give the game plenty of cpu time without making your processor stay at its max clock rate like performance does. I prefer to use tmpfiles.d to do it: /etc/tmpfiles.d/cpufreq.conf w /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor - - - - schedutil

Still an issue for me.

This was fixed at some point and now it's bugged again, regression I guess. Drives me up the wall and has caused my characters death a few times, needs fixing.

Definitely one of the less enjoyable puzzles, having the timer increased before you fail would help a lot.
