I recently determined that my favorite build is the Condi Renegade so I've decided to really pay attention to this toon, get it fixed up right and learn to play it properly. I will never be a good player but I strive to be competent. I've been doing a lot of reading but still have the following items on which I could use an opinion. Character Profile I am using the following build as my base: https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Renegade_-_Condi_Renegade I am an open world player. Metas, events and farming are my normal activities. I am not in a guild and don't run WvW, PvP, Fractals or Raids. I'm not very precise with skill rotations and I enjoy being careless. I'm wearing a full set of Yassith's including my shortbow. I only run shortbow with no alternate weapon. I am running back, rings, earrings and amulet as shown in the build or items with the same stats. Specializations are the same as the build. Relics Build says to run a Relic of Akeem (confusion+torment when you disable an enemy). Darkrazor's Daring has a daze but I don't fire it very often because it's expensive. I didn't notice any other control effects that would fire the relic. Based on that I'm currently running a Relic of Aristocracy (%3 condi duration on weakeness or vuln) based on how often I use Icerazor's Ire. I also have a Relice of the Mirage (torment on evade) as I do roll around a lot but I'm not sure that's a quality choice. I WOULD LIKE ADVICE ON THIS ITEM Runes Currently I have a full set of Superior Rune of the Berserker. Build says I should use Superior Rune of the Nightmare. Both have 25/50/100 condi damage at the 1/3/5 slots. However... Berserker (slot/effect) - 2/35 power, 4/65 power and 6/125 condi Nightmare (slot/effect) - 2/10% fear duration, 4/10 10% condi duration and 6/10% condi duration Since I don't apply fear (that I know of) and based on my playing habits it seems like the 100 power and 125 condi outweighs 20% condi duration. I WOULD LIKE ADVICE ON THIS ITEM Sigils Build says to use these: - Superior Sigil of Earth (bleeding on crit) - Superior Sigil of Doom (poison on weapon swap) Earth seems to make a certain amount of sense. Since I don't weapon swap the Sigil of Doom is a nogo and I will replace it with Superior Sigil of Bursting or Superior Sigil of Torment (torment on crit). I'm leaning towards Sigil of Bursting as I'm not sure why +5% condi damage wouldn't be desirable. Build also says Superior Sigil of Draining (steal life on interrupt) is an option based on Darkrazor's Daring interrupts but I wasn't considering it because Darkrazor is expensive (30). I have no problem replacing the two from the build with the alts (or other options) if that's the smart move. I avoid sigils that require a weapon swap, stance swap or some special situation for it to fire. I WOULD LIKE ADVICE ON THIS ITEM. Skill Rotation In combat I run Renegade/Kalla stance almost exclusively. Don't run Demon Stance (from build) but instead run Assassin for Impossible Odds and Riposting Shadows for travel/escape. My skill rotation is probably pretty bad. I almost always lead with Icerazor's Ire and then the weapon skills. I'm getting better at remembering to use Spiritcrush(4) (Combo field) before I use Sevenshot(3) (Combo finisher). I try to hit Bloodbane Path(2) whenever it's up and I use Scorchrazor for knockdown or when othere are on recharge. If I need to heal, Breakrazor's Bastion. I once used Soulcleaver Summit to heal frequently but all I hear is bad stuff about it so I've been laying off. Most of the time I completely forget about Heroic Command(F2), Citadel Bombardment(F3) and Orders from Above(F4). I've said a few times above I rarely use Darkrazor's Daring due to cost. Build says to basically ignore Razorclaw's Rage and I do. In the build profile under Usage for Kalla, for Soulcleave's Summit, it says "we don't talk about this" and I'm not quite sure what that means. Could mean it's an automatic use and requires no comment or that it's so bad we never use it. Just curious. Veprovina and Infusion I can't thank you enough for all of the good information. I have a lot reading to do that's for sure. Someone(s) asked about my gear so I threw this together real fast. All my armor is exactly the same type as the Chest piece that's displayed. Same with the jewelry. All Ruby stuff with the same upgrade.

Noodle Any thank you so much for taking some of your time to help me out. Thank you for the information on Shatters. I like free damage! Yes I use sword auto-attack in every fight where I need real damage and I try to wait until the third hit is fired so I don't interrupt the skill. Not that I knew that on my own, another nice player such as yourself helped me out. On the build thing you are accurate in that I went looking for a "good" leveling build to get me started. This post is my attempt to break the build model. I don't even know what a condi mirage is so I like your rotation. :) Again thank you so much... although all this does is make we want to slack off work and go play. Thank you sir (or whatever)!

Summary: Been away from the game since 2014. Understand most Mesmer skill basics but could use some help polishing my game.Character: Level 67 human. Running sword/sword and sword/focus.Build lines: Illusions/Dueling/Domination (soon)Utility skills: Ether Feast, Mantra of Pain, Various (Mirror Images/Portal/Mimic/Power Cleanse), Signet of Inspiration, Timewarp/Hounds Play style: Skipping trash mobs if I'm facing multiple enemies I'll throw illusions at different targets starting with Phant Swordsman due to the 1 second casting time, then Illusionary Leap and then Mirror Images if I need more help. I try to keep them mobs close for multi-hit. If I'm fighting one big target I'll throw the illusions and then try to take a hit while Illusionary Riposte is active to buy me another close. I'll hit Mantra of Pain if it's up for more damage or a finisher. Questions: My only real use of shatter is to hit F1 for extra damage if I remember. I asked a few people in game if they use shatters other than F1 and most said no with a few saying F4 is useful as an aggro breaker. I'm a missing out on a better technique?Should I be using a skill(s) which I've not listed? Suggest something, I'm interested! :)Upon reading my information am I doing anything horrible wrong? I'm giving this one to DeadBB as he said it first. My W key was a tiny bit sticky so when I first login I didn't notice the problem. However the longer (and harder) I held W the more it stuck and the further I ran. That's why it seemed to get worse the longer I played... longer runs. I've got it working a bit better but I really need to break out the rubbing alcohol and the Q-tips. Thank you to everyone who gave their time to offer some help.

The touch pad is disabled and the behavior happens/continues when my hands are completely off the keyboard and mouse make me think that's probably not it. Thank you very much though for taking a few minutes to read this and offer some help.

Old laptop? Part of your keyboard might just be dying. Connect any other keyboard to check if it still happens with one that is functional without any doubts.Also you didn't say if you've actually tried remapping w into another key, so if you didn't then try that. I reset the keys to default and tried putting Run Forward on another key but it didn't seem to matter. I'm running a gaming lappy that's about 18 months old. i7-9750, RTX 2070, 16 GB ram etc. Don't have an external keyboard that I can try at the moment. Thank you for taking the time to offer some help.

A bit more info. The longer I'm in the game the more it happens. When I first log in, press W to run and let go it gives the little "skid" animation and stops right away. The longer I'm on the worse it gets. First the skid animation stops. Then it goes 1 then 2 then 3 steps past where I let go of W to the point where it doesn't stop at all. It will be running on it's own with no hands on keyboard or mouse and no auto-run mapped. That is consistent by the way. Starts off fine and gets progressively worse.

I'm not sure how key bindings could cause intermittent behavior. Especially since the GUI stops you from double mapping keys. However at this point I'll try anything and if it works I'll be happy to bow down. :)

Ok so the chat trick doesn't work for me. I've taken a closer look at this and the behavior is as if I'm still holding the W after I've let go. I can take my hands complete off the keyboard and mouse yet I keep running.... sometimes for 3 extra steps, sometimes it never stops. The difference between this and auto-run is that hitting S cancels autorun. If I hit S during the problem behavior it stops you but as soon as you let go it starts running again. To see what I mean just hold down W and tap or hold S a few times. I have gotten a brand new mouse with no luck. Not saying anyone can fix this but it's hard to believe that it's only me. Anyway thank you everyone for the help you provided.

Activating chat stops you just once or it fixes it for a while? I can't imaging doing a jumping puzzle and having to switch to chat every time I want to stop. Thank you! Well, it helps me to stop this running for the life asura until the bug decided to appear again. So yeah, it somehow stops the bug for an unpredictable amount of time. It even allowed me to do SAB w2 trib mode, so...That's a work around I can handle. Thank you nopinopa for the suggestions.
