  1. Possibly some rushes related to old content. On the other hand, I successfully did Battle for Lion's Arch and Twisted Marrionette just yesterday. It was a private squad instead of public though. There are some people running meta trains including those two almost every day.
  2. Celestial gives good additional stat for survivability like healing. But whether it gives noticeable difference, I think it is less than what you think it will give you. The idea is that Firebrand have the utilities to make use all of the stat more than other profession/specialization. But at the same time you need to slot in and use protection/healing skills. In this case you would sacrifice damage for survivability. It is not like if you equip Celestial gear, you will see increased performance in every domain at the same time. I would suggest to aim for Celestial Ascended gear since you are currently in exotic. Wizard's Vault currently offers 1 weapon and 3 armor chest for Astral Acclaim.
  3. Buttcape™ powered windforce, staple of Arenanet's design. The ergonomic Buttcape™ is designed aerodynamically to let the air flow upwards inside for the undies to stay on. That's why you see them on many armors. Now with additional Crotchcape™ variant for extra staying power.
  4. Rather than new playable race, I'd rather Arenanet spend time adding story sections for each races. I see a lot of potential interesting storyline involving the different races, or even the old WoW style reputation to delve in each races. As much as I want more contents here, quite clear to see there is a resource limitation on the Arenanet side. I'd rather focus exploring the culture and background of the races instead of making one playable. Some ideas: 1. Tengus, the obvious culprit. Dominion of Winds as new explorable zone. 2. Kodans, Quaggans, Largos home. 3. Sylvaris borne not from the Pale Tree. 4. Olmakhan Charrs 5. Inquest Asurans --- The best workaround for playable is race to make a fully functioning tonic for everything. Combat tonic, for example, is not compatible with mount. Can Arenanet develop a full gameplay tonic to roleplay as different races in every facet, such as mount, fishing, etc?
  5. This is how it works. If you play with 10 accounts, rather than 1 account, it helps Arenanet's performance metric. As a single account player, I couldn't care less whether you play 5 hours in single account or 30 mins each on 10 accounts. If you reap better reward, then you should. It's like BL key farming on level 10 characters. If some people enjoy doing that, then let them do it. Is it unfair, free BL keys? No, because anybody can choose to spend their time like that. The previous login rewards were a lot worse than the current one. I see the current one has gated the RICHLY reward you mentioned more than previous structure. If you want to play multiboxed -- I mean earning AA playing the game with multiboxing -- and risk banning, then it's up to you. If you earn AA on 10 accounts separately then you should reap the rewards.
  6. The Holy Trinity was established by the players with DPS, blasting water field and Time Warp, now it is LESS messier than the patchwork that the players came up with.
  7. I guess depends on you. Experience wise, I took many breaks playing Guild Wars 2. I skipped previous Living Stories, only to play them after I am done with the latest ones. I still enjoyed it. The good thing about SOTO is that it is a brand new arc. The core game, HoT, PoF, EoD and all the previous living stories were all part of Dragons arc. Sure there will be some parts you won't get, but most characters are brand new aside from Zojja.
  8. The fact that the game grew over the years. Dungeons were scrapped and they designed Raid, then Strikes, which requires the need of dedicated healer kind of role. The fact that many players enjoyed these contents as well as playing healer role made them move forward to design more of healer/boon support specializations. Just natural development of a MMORPG. Even during the core era, mesmer already became the de facto boon support with Time Warp. It's just that no other classes were rivaling mesmers in their offensive support (probably only Banner Warriors who came close).
  9. Totally this. Most people consider casual vs hardcore to be content specific such as raids. But I don't think so. What makes GW2 casual friendly is its focus on Horizontal Progression instead of Vertical Progression. No level up after 80 means, you can choose which part of the game you want to do after Core Tyria (which basically acts as a tutorial). And the fact that it is so easy to join any new content after leaving for so long is what makes it casual friendly. Many other MMORPGS are stuck in the horizontal progression, whereas to enjoy new content you need to rank up character levels or item levels. Legendary cosmetics only given out on latest content on the highest level. Whereas in Guild Wars 2, even playing older easier content will still help you progress on legendary cosmetics.
  10. I think what you described is more of a CRPG kind of game. The issue is that Guild Wars 2 is an ARPG with fast paced combat system. Solo encounter design will end up skewing more to reactionary puzzle game akin to Liadri or Turai Ossa from Queen's Gauntlet. And it is difficult to design 2 level of difficulty of puzzle encounters aside from extending HP bar, damage or phases which usually only end up making it unfun without additional mechanics. The issue is not to have 2 difficulty level for story encounters. Any story encounters already easy mode with infinite revives and NPCs engaging the boss to keep them from OOC regeneration. Arenanet just need to design one encounter with medium-hard difficulty and an optional achievement of "defeat boss solo without dying or disengaging". Scruffy 2.0 boss fight that you mentioned is a good example. It's rather difficult to solo, but still possible to do with infinite revives. Easier option is to find group of 5 to finish the instance. To make it challenging, Arenanet should just add an achievement to defeat it solo without dying and disengaging. I would like to see more solo encounters (and longer story content) though. I feel there are a lot of plotlines that were axed due to time and resource constraint.
  11. Hmm? I just did Awakened invasions event in Queensdale and saw many level 80 players there, mostly for the weekly 100 Awakened. Caledon too, but with less level 80s than Queensdale.
  12. One of the key issues of the game. There are many storylines that were simply left behind to push the story forward (and not enough development time to pursue them).
  13. How lucky are you. Been doing Dragon Storm since it started as well, although not daily. But yeah, no frostsaw.
