  1. I would absolutely like the option to turn it off. Not only are the constant dings annoying, it will ruin it for newer/returning players who want to play with veteran(-ish) players. Right now, my new char is leveling significantly faster than my SO who doesn't have this bonus: In less than an hour we played just completing vanilla maps last night, I advanced like 9 levels while they only made 2 if that. Honestly, meaningless achievements every .5 second is not the way to butt-kiss your players.
  2. The "outnumbered" buff all weekend during this season says it all. Whenever I hopped on, my team was deader than dead on every map, hardly anyone responding to any calls; the only thing somewhat alive was the map/team chat between people talking this horrid balance. Seems like many have already given up, understandably, knowing that it's either no action whatsoever or get blatantly camped by boonblobs thrice our size. If this is how it's going to look live, it will drive people away from this already-struggling mode even faster than they ever have. And it'll be an instant turn-off for new players they seem to intend to grab with the new xpac.
  3. I personally want to go back to CMs on my healer or support, but not before I'm (and many are) fully comfortable with the new specs. I don't want to waste people's time or keep requeuing due to one-wipe quitters, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some people (esp DPS) that wanted to avoid getting booted for poorer DPS or screw-ups too.
  4. Maybe still HP farming so they can play the story with new especs. I myself started playing again yesterday for that. HoT maps and metas were quite often very active with constant trains.
  5. New specs are fine. As far as the story, politics alert because Anet can't help it. I've only just reached Cantha and listened to the dialogues with the girls. As a Westerner with some Asian roots, I'm second-hand ashamed to see all these hardcore Asian stereotypes and Anet's self-righteous Western progressivism and cultural colonialism shoved in so far. While I don't consider myself a conservative, conservatives are conservatives for a reason and I respect different ideologies enough to not call them names they way Anet have. This is already discouraging me to go any further.
  6. One of the worst/laziest about this game's story is that characters get killed for easy shock value way too often. IIRC, in vanilla, it was a lot of NPCs that sacrificed themselves only to be forgotten in seconds. And then in Xpacs, and the living world stories, now named, important characters started dying left, right and centre, again so often that it's becomes essentially meaningless (and then what happened to Aurene cheapened it even more). So I agree it's not impressive, but I personally watch/listen through, because I do enjoy the acting of certain VAs. I feel they put a lot of effort and thought into it that's worth appreciating.
  7. Yeah, if it works for most, it's cool. I'm not hardcore enough to care. But for a lot of people to keep coming back and engaging (read: keep the game going in one way or the other, occasionally dropping money to help sustain it), they probably need to be intermittently rewarded in a meaningful way, like a realistic chance of buying/building those shinies dangling before their faces. So I do wonder if these daunting grinds, and lack of in-game guidance for that matter, hurts their retention of total newbies without a lot of money at their disposal.
  8. Hey, thanks for reading in advance as I may not be able to log on to reply promptly. This is mostly just reporting the seemingly random issue that I just encountered today. I've never had dx11 enabled, nor have I ever used any third-party stuff. Before going into how it happened, what I've tried to no avail: Delete local.dat Complete uninstall and reinstall -repair -windowed -dx9 (or something like that) So on the 18th before reset, I logged in no prob and joined a fractal pug, but the game crashed during map load (sorry guys) which somehow caused my entire PC to freeze, so I force-restarted it, after which the installer seemed to run some update. I tried to log in again but got kicked out right as I opened the settings at the character selection to review graphic settings. Logged in again and this time tried to load into a map on the last character I was on. Booted a few seconds into map load. Tried to select dx11 from the settings, but the client crashes as I tried to click on the option. So now, it seems that the game just shuts down for me 3 - 4 seconds after showing the char selection screen, no matter what. The music cuts and then the entire screen disappears. No improvement from there after about 5 tries.
  9. If they really wanted, they could make it so you don't get rewarded if you don't contribute a certain percentage of dmg/healing done throughout an encounter. My guess is keeping those leecher types playing outweighs the cost of implementing something like that.
  10. I agree. Not just Aurene, but I feel this game overall only rewards hardcores and the imaginative who are familiar with the original GW and/or care enough to read up on what's not presented in-game (and maybe build on that personally to compensate) . It's all an empty vessel, which may be a feature and not an error. I do not know. But as a super filthy casual who also missed LWS1, it's basically impossible to find any interest or attachment to what's just thrown in my face, the story or the characters.
  11. I just came back after a while hoping to see some fun mechanics, new character, items, anything worth investing an hour in. After one run, just logged in here to say enough with the knock back, up and down spams. Loss of control of your own character is not interesting, fun or challenging in any way. It's simply an absolute bowl of AIDS and it discourages uninvested players like myself from ever coming back again, much less buying new xpacs. I'd have thought it'd get better after that Taimi robot's kittening annoying knockback spams.
  12. Bumping this. It might encourage people who have quit fracs due to as_holes to come back. There are unpleasant people in this world that will always leave a garbage taste in everyone's mouth no matter what, as if they are going to die or something if they don't find littlest things to b_tch and moan about and then resort to attempting to kick whoever they happen to dislike that week. Normal people shouldn't have to be forced to put up with, or suffer inconvenience from, those losers.
  13. I personally agree that both FB (which I always seem to get several in a row) and SA are simply tedious and annoying more than anything. But it looks like we're in a small minority.
  14. As the title says, my revenant skills, as well as Hypernova Launch, randomly stop responding in 100CM only (most often during Arkk). I've also run CMs on a FB and a warrior; never the same issue. What I've tried but don't work: /gg then resGetting downed/killed and then revivedEquipping a toy (even toy/brawler skills don't respond. and I can't unequip it unless /gg)Weapon swapping (unable to do)Relogging works but is not an ideal option for me, as loading LA itself takes anywhere from a minute to 5, depending, and then extra few to load back to the fractal. So I just have to run around like an idiot mid-fight until I feel bad for the group and leave, and I would very much appreciate if you'd fix this. Thanks for your attention.
