  1. Ya there would need to be a game mode split on Well cast time. That would be really strong some places. I'd take all of those changes in WvW. I was thinking the same about Well if Bounty yesterday. It's hard enough to anticipate your groups movement and stops even on voice comms to get everyone to completely full up on it and that's if they don't get pushed off. That's if you get that chance because it's usually used in answer to something and maybe one or two people will get one pulse. No Well cast time would be too strong for mobility but about right for pulses. You don't just place it down for everyone to jump on because they won't. You quickly get ahead of everyone with some quick head math and you might get the bulk of your group or the enemy running over for a pulse or two.
  2. Friendly fire or collision detection would be great job security for enemy server plants who mostly just pull tacts right now. I think a week event for them would be great though and might actually be a lot of fun figuring out formations and approach and all that. Or just dedicate Red BL to it for a while and see how it goes.
  3. It would probably have a similar satisfying feeling of necro corpse explosion in the Diablo games.
  4. Those super serious guilds are also fragile af and aren't very elastic. You'll get more done with a solid open tag anyway. You also don't need to be in squad to cover them. Just make sure not to mess up their blasts too much. When they know you as someone who keeps them from dying a lot then the invites pop up more.
  5. All you did is repeat what I was saying. If you were trying to sound clever maybe give it another shot. There's a pretty clear difference in fights when there's not a time constraint like an inner wall or lord going down and when everyone has time to feel that blob out.
  6. I know the super serious guilds would want you on healing stats probably but I switch to my raid baseline condi temlate most of the time with reduce healing Relic and Shadestep for clutch Protection. Sometimes the heal heavy template just prolongs the inevitable while the condi template can start opening things up. That along with staying in close movement with your team might hinge on being able to pick targets quickly with mouse unless you have a really intuitive keybind layout. I don't have a problem with that, but they should have made a more fluid target selection system for Specter for people in general.
  7. When people don't care about losing stuff, those boon balls get picked at and ultimately they need to scoot or they'll crumble unless the other side isn't showing up for that match. Once that circle is in trouble the defenders are probably going to scramble and get farmed or give it up.
  8. Most of what makes the boon balls seemingly unstoppable is that skill can win vs numbers but not likely vs those numbers and the clock. I get the sentiment but your list of things to slash would leave large squad and guild compositions that need to maintain wide open to most experienced pugs who can dismantle. I even know which Relic I'm going to wear to that party. Not saying I entirely disagree, but I wouldn't flip that switch before some serious review first.
  9. Specter is great in zergs and blob fights. That's my daily vibe. I also liked Deadeye rifle in large fights. It was sort of self sustainable and having the leap finisher and Death's Retreat animation itself was great. Even core, like S/D or something, with shortbow kept handy was a lot of fun. There's some residual to other players around your target on both offensive and defensive version of Scepter skills, and the healing from traits hits a radius also. Between movement skills and utilities like Wells, you're more about being a Fixer-Upper than a dedicated squad healer but the healing is no slouch if you build for it.
  10. Any new event needs to be super gimmicky to be interesting as long as we're disrupting everyone's routine or day to day. Some of those you listed might actually cause people to not log in for a while. If we're going to mess with numbers or take out skills or professions, it needs to be obvious and clear to everyone, so everyone knows what the event is about. Then everyone can reflect without their usual excuses.
  11. After all of these years I still remember nearly every minute of the movie Blade. That fight choreography and Snipes performance was on point all the way through and I can still feel the impact of every hit. It wasn't super fast but every second counted. Most comic, superhero, and even just action movies in general that I catch now don't hit like that and routinely end up being floaty and forgettable. Just like I space out during every Marvel movie until one of the characters drops a dumb quip at the end of a fight sequence, I don't really know or am too concerned with what's going on in that big ball of light with players in it until I see a bunch of Downed players on either side. I try to be tuned into that, but rate of fire and actions right now is on another level and so much of it is residual or as consequence of other actions and deliberate actions can be hard to parse out from the crowd. I hope if Anet ever decides to slow their roll and trim up or overhaul the combat to get back to some fundamentals, that they put out a solid guide because a lot of players have kind of leap frogged much of them at this point.
  12. What would you put in place of WvW? I've given my own take a few times that involves scrapping most of WvW, so I'm curious what your idea is. There needs to be something there for large scale fights, even if WvW is kind of shabby. I would definitely quit without some kind of similar game mode. I get what you're saying about clear objectives, but if there are too many rigid objectives then we're moving closer to a large scale Spvp match. I'd probably quit at this point also. I've quit other games when it was clear I'd be stuck doing endless routine matches. I don't mind those commanders and squads doing their own thing. I think this game mode should be closer to an open world game mode connected to the core world but even with what we have now, we're not getting everyone on the same beat unless the game mode is shrunk and more time limited and constrained instead of 24/7. At that point, again, it would be too much like Spvp.
  13. 2. If you're trying to get 1 v 1 duels you can set up parameters with people. In WvW, there are some aspects of some builds or just some gimmick that's hot for a patch or two but for the most part, a lot of the builds you're probably conflating with real outliers are just tuned. You'd have to be severely overtuned to answer all of the rate of fire and actions going on in WvW. Of course they're going to try to fight you on their terms and duck out when they need to. First day? You do the same and acting like you don't is disingenuous. If you don't then do you side a favor and jump maps maybe.
  14. No fishing for obvious map pop reasons. Not much reason to have skiffs unless we're getting some kind of ship and underwater combat gimmick. Everyone expecting some lit pirate ship battles would be let down by just floating in circles in one of the few small bodies of water. If WvW maps were pvp zones in the core world then that would make sense. There's not much scenery in WvW maps and most of the water can almost be stepped over. It would be like wearing a floatation device in the bathtub.
