  1. There is nothing wrong! But it is important to talk about the pros and the cons of all the professions, because I suppose Anet is reading their forum. Ok, a majority of elem players are begging for a up of the staff and a new long range weapon for years, ok Anet is always in the opposite of our expectations and ok the elementalist is more and more abandonned by the community (look at the meta events, elementalists are like shinies nowadays), but hey, we still can dream and hope that Anet will start to listen to us and increase the elementalists' quality of life... As developers, they are in a very specific spot and they're hardly able to feel the game the way we feel it. I am pretty sure they didn't expected the whole meta DPS with Snow Crows, the DPS meter and so at the beginning of the game and I'm pretty sure the elem is harder to balanced due to its particular mecanic, but it's their job to find a solution in order to improve our experience. It would be just too simple ignore the way the game is played and conceived by the player base because the elem is in a kitten spot for years... I am not at all a meta slave but I am forced to adapt myself if I want to play my elem, I am forced to learn the "optimized" rotations and so to be on par with a spam1 thief just because the design of my toon is not in adequation anymore with the rest of the game... I am not expecting the elem to be simplified oranything. I just want the elem to be reworked to fit the current state of the game... And when I see the new spec, I doubt Anet shares the same point of view. I guess once again I'll try my elem for few days and then I'll move on because it is not worth the effort... And that is not a logical statement because the situation is like this for a lot of time now...
  2. Hello everyone, I'm looking at the forum from time to time and a lot of people are complaining about the elementalist, and sometimes I really understand their pain about this class. I am myself a GW2 player since the release (casually by period, I don't have enough time to be a hardcore player). I play all the classes but the guardian (I have only 8 slots ^^) and when I compare the elem with the other classes, I personnally can identify two main concerns. First of all, the elementalist is a mage. we expect from a mage to be a machine at long range with a lot of AoE and to be glasscanon. The elem is really glascanon, no worries about that. But where is the range? Where are the big AoEs? why the 3 specs are focused on melee range? In my opinion the real mage in game is the necromancer and I don't really understand the logic behind this game design, and I admit I am really upset about the new elem spec because even if the animations are amazing as always, it feels really cluncky and underpowered (and illogical in some of the mecanics) but well... It's another topic. On the other hand, my biggest issue about the elementalist is not the range, but the gameplay. I mean, I love the elementalist. Actually, this class is my favorite on the paper because of the animations, the feeling to play the avatar, the diversity... BUT. Why is everything so hard to do? I mean, to be on par with the other classes, you have to make twice or more the efforts, with less HP (so your mistakes are often unforgivable) and if you decide to play DPS, you are less interesting for your mates because you are selfish on boons. With a thief, you can produce a really correct amount of DPS with your staff only by using your 1. To be ON PAR with such an "advanced" gameplay, as an elementalist you have to play a hard ratation and moreover you are dependant on your mates for the boons in order to have your cooldowns in time! I'd love to main my elem because it's my favorite toon by far, but each time I try to be more dedicated to it, I just surrend and I play something else because in my opinion it's not worth the efforts. Of course it's only my point of view. I guess the more experienced elems here probably disagree my topic and Im totally OK with that. But I'd really love Anet to give the elem some love just at least to be on par with the other classes in term of mecanics or rotation and I'd love to see them up the staff... The game has changed, the overall power of all classes have increased, and in my opinion, the old version of the staff (before the nerfs) should be ok now. I'm french and as a non native, my english is far from perfect, sorry about that, but it's always more enjoyable to discuss with the international community. Thanks everyone for reading!
  3. In GW1 the ritualist was mostly (of course not only) a support in groups. A lot of builds didn't even used the spirits! To me, this spec is really a reference to the ritualist from GW1, a spec able to heal the allies, to bring them some bonuses AND even the look of the spells is really so GW1! I mean the urne for example, every ritu player know that such things was a part of our gameplay! I'm a bit puzzled about the spec overall and I'll try it carefully next week because it seems to be really fun but maybe too much support (renegade and herald are already filling this role), but the 'ritu reference' aspect is not even something to discuss in my opinion!
  4. IMO, it should be better for the community (the toxicity in raids I mean), to just forbid any DPS meter OR to add one that's allows the user to see only his own DPS in order to progress.
  5. While I don't like the idea the OP has, it's certainly not stupid because of the limitations YOU impose on what you think the warrior should be. I don't support changing any current weapons, but the espec is a reasonable way to petition for a ranged weapon. A ranged weapon is not a bad idea (even if we actually already have 2, we just need a correct rifle) but the idea of a warrior using magic is just stupid. If I want a mage knight I'll pick a guard. A war is a master of martial arts, that's all. We just need to respect the archetype.
  6. Warrior doen't use magic, so yes, it's the most stupid idea I've ever seen. Ranged hammer... Why not a close range shortbow, because it's short! It definitly made for melee!
