  1. That strange parallel universe some of you guys live in your head is incredible. It sounds like a really exiting place. Gw2 forums... Never change 🤣
  2. This is the most " get off my lawn" post I read in years.
  3. I doubt it. Even when clients are used when loading through steam they are usually thin clients that by default only use the steam credentials. Also if you could use your anet account and connect it with all the other features that steam has, they possibly need to pay the steam fees. That is the whole point of the restrictions. To not have to pay fees for revenue from existing accounts. So i doubt you can use non steam credentials on the thin client. That being said what you want you can already do. Just add the Gw2 executable as a non-steam game and run it using proton. This is how most people play the game on the Deck as well. And Gw2 has been playable on Linux outside steam for years.
  4. Always find complains about the skyscale weird. Like it is just 1 or 2 weeks of play if you take it easy. And the things you do for the collection is basically just playing the game which should be what you are doing largely anyway. You want currency? Farm the season 4 maps and their hearts or do Drakkar meta or do IBS strikes and exchange the currency. Or lastly just do story and get them by doing season of the dragon story achievements. You want the food? Either craft them or farm the gold to buy them. And to farm the gold you do open world or strikes or raids or fractals or TP flipping or what ever. You do not like PvE many of these you can do with PvP reward track. Takes more time but you do what you enjoy. So if someone finds doing all those options that tedious for a couple of weeks for the skyscale, what do they like about the game? Like what would they be doing if not for the skyscale these two weeks?
  5. That does not mean much though. Game does an awful job in teaching you your class, one of the reasons being the inconsequential difficulty is on the base game. So you can play for hundreds of hours and not understand even fundamental details. None of us actually knew our classes before we hit HoT and the ramp up did force us to actually learn a few things better. Subsequent content is way less tense but still end game content. So looking up some decent open world build for the class should help you. And make HoT way easier.
  6. HoT open world is definitely tougher than all later content especially without mounts. But if you are at a point of rage quitting then you will have issues even with the rest of the game too. HoT is tougher but not that tough - power creep has made it far easier than people remember it from launch. Your difficulties probably mean that you need to learn a bit more about how gear and build crafting works for your class.
  7. One way or the other it is a bug and i assume it will be fixed soon enough.
  8. The assumption is that it has to do with which character you talk to the vendor first. After that every character can buy the stuff.
  9. There is a bug. Talk to the vendor with the character you unlocked the paths the first time. It seems that the system is looking at the character instead of the total completion.
  10. There is a bug that the merchant instead of looking at the total achievement it is looking at the character to unlock. You have to speak to the vendor with the character you have actually unlocked all the paths the first time around. After than the items will be unlocked for every character. If you have unlocked the paths with more than one character just speak with the vendor with each one. Like look up and try things out before you have a meltdown. One way or the other they will probably have a hotfix about it soon.
  11. https://snowcrows.com/explore This should get you started.
  12. I will not get too much into the monetization discussion as it is unreasonable to accuse Gw2 as having bad monetization compared to others. Yes all the stuff you are saying about lootboxes and mount skins are correct but do not really affect the game to the slightest. There are no drawbacks to ignoring the lootboxy stuff on the gemstore. And if you want mount skins then just buy the mount bundles that come up that are actually good value for money. But to get some things straight for the templates that do affect gameplay. If your main issue is build templates (Spec as you say) they are basically free. You can save as many codes as you want and resuse them in game. There is absolutely no reason to buy any of them and you can use as many as you want through the codes. And if you want something that looks better and is more convenient than having a notepad with the codes there is the Buildpad overlay ARC addon that you can use in game: https://buildpad.gw2archive.eu/
  13. Pretty good. Probably better than HoT and PoF at their launch states. It has some rough edges in some of its systems but i would say a solid 8/10.
  14. My kill was not using discord and it was very smooth. You do not need voice to organize and give the commands to the group. You just need a good commander that knows the fight well. Everything was done in map chat very easily when the person leading was experienced.
  15. The only real nerf is the tail reduction which is not that much of a nerf as actually reducing RNG of the fight. Everything else that made the fight easier were mostly fixes of behavior that was not really intended so you will not see that much of a change after the 15th from the feeling of the original fight.
