  1. In addition to costing less than extra bag slots, extra build/gear slots need to be cheaper than extra character slots, because each character slot comes with 3 free build slots and 2 free gear slots.
  2. We should get an additional free build/gear slot for each elite spec maxed out.
  3. I'm hoping gear slots will cost less than bag slots, because they have less functionality than a bag slot. Also, if you intend to make templates hotkey-able, why 3 build slots but only 2 gear slots?
  4. A quiver that pairs well with The Dreamer. All the quivers we have are either fire-themed, or dark/dirty brown leather and metal, or both. Something lighthearted or luminous in cool pastels would be a nice addition to the available quivers.
  5. Here is my hope: that the initial "Alliance" groups are large enough to accomodate the entire active WvW population of a server. So that we head into this thing with communities that want to stay together, able to do so via "(Server) Alliance".
  6. (I meant to vote for Easy+Hard.) I freakin' loved LFR in WoW; I was its target audience. I just wanted to see the content and feel like a big damn hero killing the big bads - once each. I kept going back because the rewards were the best intersection of quality and achievability for me. I think the SAB model is a good one: Infantile mode where you see all the content and get a small reward that is still enough to keep coming back, Normal mode as-is, and Tribulation mode where everything is turned up to 11 and the phat loot becomes morbidly obese loot - probably exclusive skins and titles rather than just obscene wealth, as I can see the latter causing economy problems. I think whatever gets more people playing is always good for the game. If players less skilled than you getting boss kills and nonzero loot makes you feel butthurt, consider that at least some of them will take an interest in the higher difficulty modes and bolster your ever-shrinking toxic puddle of warm bodies. I'm not sure why there is so much opposition to the idea of tiered raid content, when there are FOUR tiers of fractals (five if you count CMs) and they are a rip-roaring success.
  7. Maybe not that, but my guild mates and me have kicked wannabe elitists from our group. We expect you to know your stuff and have pots and food, that's it. We got a guy who was trying to take over our group and making demands and playing this whole alpha-thing. I explained to him that he and us doesn't work because he's trying to take over the group and we do this every day together and that we are happy like this. Then we kicked him. I think we didn't ask for a chrono or so, and he insisted we need one. Are you seriously asking for food in a non-meta party? Absolutely. It doesn't have to be Hoity Toity Multiple Gold Per Hour BiS Raid Food, but it does have to be enough to show you take your part seriously. It's a gesture of respect for the time of the 4 other people in the party. Same with pots. I stopped even considering pots due to getting them anyway (got the infinite), and their effect is indeed quite large. But the food gives something like 3-5% a piece, for the holy-moly ones. I just find it strange to insist on that when you're knowingly choosing not to use something that gives +100-200%. Like I said, it's about communicating to a group of strangers that you read the requirements and are making an effort. If you join a "food/pots" group and aren't using food or pots, that's a good sign you don't care and are expecting to be carried. And then my dps ranges between 40% and 50% of the group total. Carry much?Sure, after the run starts. Good for you. The problem is until the run starts, there is absolutely nothing to separate you from Mr. "Hurr Durr What's A Potion". A group asking for some kind of opening signal of competence, like "I read your LFG post and am now displaying potions and an appropriate food buff as requested", is totally justified in kicking someone who can't be bothered to do that much, even before finding out whether it's because they're a good player or a bad one. Because, frankly, finding that out takes too much time, especially when odds are it's because they're bad.

  10. Chest of Black Lion Goods: because we can't choose what we get from it, it's considered a garbage booby prize, worthless filler, a disappointing "womp-womp" moment. If we could choose (still including Upgrade Extractor, mind you!), everyone would be much happier about getting this item.
  11. Meh. Don't like don't join. I too avoid LFG ads with a super intense list of requirements; it usually indicates a leader who is trying to cover for their own incompetence by being uptight and bossy. Even if they are competent, uptight and bossy is no fun to run dailies with. "Food+pots" is the sweet spot for me; that lets in only those who have enough respect for everyone else's time to carry food, and enough experience/competence to have pots on hand one way or another. I do also sometimes run ArcDPS, although I'm careful not to snark about people's scores; I'm just curious. It's also useful for identifying people running healing builds without telling anyone, which happens more than you might think. I'm all for diverse builds, BUT there should only be 1 healer per team; more is slowing down the group.
  12. In my opinion, this is the best trailer ArenaNet ever made. It's footage from the Factions Preview Event, set to exciting music. I've remembered it all these years because it was so good. Anyone can shell out for a fancy cinematic - and those are fun too! - but this clearly shows real gameplay by real players. It shows off the environments and combat, obviously both PvE and PvP, and enough of some maps to make it clear that there are Things To Do there, which makes players want to find out what those Things are. What are those portals for? Where is that huge turtle going? The graphics look a little dated now, but at the time they looked fantastic, and even more impressive given that it's obviously in-game. Furthermore, the town footage shows that lots of people were present for the event, having fun together (I miss the synced /dance * command almost 1% as much as I miss build templates). The only thing this trailer is missing is some kind of epic moment of action. Some classics: -a clearly-organized group, running as one towards a clearly-challenging objective, ideally firing off flashy preparatory skills as they go. This wasn't really possible in GW1 since there was no movement during casting, but GW2 is full of these kinds of moments. Film a small party taking a tower in WvW sometime, including the moment the wall or gate comes down, with a firebrand casting mantras up the ramp to the lord, or a mesmer casting Mass Invisibility (which has a great pink shockwave animation). Big zerg battles are exciting to be in but they make for very chaotic footage - you could try though. -lone heroes facing off against sinister monsters. I have dozens of screenshots of my characters on island ledges during the Mouth of Mordremoth fight, when they happened to be the only/first ones there just as the Mouth rose up slowly to glare eye-to-eye with them. You get the idea. My only other suggestion is that, if you're going to pack your trailers full of gameplay footage - which I definitely think you should - a much better use of text than "player testimonials" (or maybe alternating with them) is some splash text explaining what you're seeing. "New explorable zones!" "New Living World chapter!" "Sieze enemy territory in WvW!" "For Wintersday enjoy street racing... snowball fights... jumping puzzles...playing with toys... spreading the festive spirit (orphans)... or just imbibing some festive spirits (character badly intoxicated)." I've loved GW1 and GW2 for years, and really hope you can do the game justice and help it continue to draw in new players for a long time to come.
  13. I cackled audibly as I replaced my guardian's Traveller runes, and several gimpy traitlines and signet slots.
  14. I'm still thinking about how much I don't like this latest development. I guess the account-bound skins in the BL chests were testing the waters and I didn't heed the warning signs, so I have no right to be this disappointed, but I am. I thought I was playing an MMO with a soul and staying power, not some flash-in-the-pan Facebook mobile garbage. This is just so... sleazy.
  15. I think it's incredibly sleazy, even predatory if you consider those with gambling addictions. I'm very disappointed that this is the direction ANet is taking. I would pay twice the price for individual skins of my choice, but I will not be paying into the current arrangement at all, and far more reluctant in future to buy anything from the gemstore period.
