  1. Can Anet please stop making every class the most boring it could possibly be to the point that they are referred to as bots... literally. You got your boon bots = firebrandsBubble bots = spellbreakerscorrupt bots = scourges (post patch. Why bother with dps scourge when you corrupt the same or more as minstrel and won't be so squishy and other classes out dpsed you prepatch anyways.)I hear scrappers are so boring to play people do other stuff while playing it and it's fine (although they can do everything a support spec could ever want.)I can only imagine rangers either enjoy this or have given up hope that they can have fun, and just stand on whatever wall or cliff is available and press 2 when somebody walks by.Mesmers used to be veil bots but have been nerfed to the point most don't show up at all.I may have missed some other boring spec that brings something wanted but the actual class is brain dead boring to use. If I didn't have a guild to play with at this point I don't think I'd bother logging in. Why is it half of squads or more are made up of people who don't want to play their class or are coerced into playing something because it's "needed" and aren't allowed to do anything fun? Just do better Anet, do better.
  2. Can we stop with the doom and gloom about shades? It will not be anywhere near as bad as the last time scourges had shades on both the necro and the casted shade. Since then there have been considerable nerfs to it's damage. December 03, 2019 This skill no longer inflicts cripple in all game modes February 25, 2020 Competitive content update:(competitive split) Reduced power coefficient from 0.666 to 0.1. Reduced torment duration from 2 seconds to 1 second. February 25, 2020 Competitive content update:(Competitive split) Reduced power coefficient per strike from 0.45 to 0.3. That's like a, I'm going to say, 80% damage nerf to F1-4 and 33% on F5, as well as losing the soft cc to keep you in the shades and half the torment for condis. Since Feb, the top damage for power scourges is well of suffering by far, followed by some combination of well of corruption, unholy feast/unholy burst, devouring darkness, breach, then maybe desert shroud. (other skills do appear in the top few sometimes, but i'm generalizing.) The target cap, is 5 per shade still, so in many cases that means 5-10 (I'm giving the small shade people the benefit of the doubt that they can hit 10 people with multiple shades at the same time) enemy players hit per use of F1-5 and now 5 friendly effects. The main exception being scourges dropping shades on themselves as enemy zergs move into melee range. You all act like scourges couldn't get melee shades before this patch. If a shade wasn't dropped scourges used F1-5 anyways. If you use cc like you should before running into zergs, the effect will likely be the same. Stun the scourge and they can't drop a shade before F1-5. Stability overall is down, and for most scourges, the only stunbreak they're running is trail of anguish which has a 40s cooldown if traited. It's not that hard to cc scourges. Also for all the people talking about shade corruption, that's 3 traitlines to corrupt 2-3 boons. That's a lot of no utility traits, no damage traits, and no support traits, or less corrupting if they choose the other traits, that's a heavy investment. What will be op is the fact that wells and shades will have similar cooldowns and can be dropped at the same time for bigger well bombs more often. I'll find it fun while it exists, like when meteors hit for 20k but in a different sense. Scourge is currently boring to play but needed for the corrupts, a little something extra will be nice. But really, leave the shades alone, necro has little to no group utility, give them back this without so much complaining.
  3. You're missing the point of why scourges were so powerful and omnipresent. It's because they were the kings of boon corruption and area denial. A squad with a scourge in every 5 man party had enough AoE to make melee a suicide run of red circles and conditions on top of having Wells to do the real bombs. Shades being on both the necro and targeted area was am obscene amount of AoE pressure that could grant barrier, cleanse, corrupt, and CC with absolutely no thought about placement because if enemies charged then you had the effects around you as well. If they don't reduce the target cap of shades, we're in for another 2 scourges per 5 people squads again. When PoF came out, shades were scourges top source of damage and had more traited corrupts in the scourge line. It has been nerfed to the point that it honestly might be more worth it to run core necro and melee in for the same corrupts and more damage and immobs. Warrior WoD is much more obnoxious because you can't get your stripped boons back. The only reason shades are scary is the number of them placed on the same spot. You're just as dead to standing in 3 ele meteors or 5 rev phase smashes than 10 scourge shades. Wells are scarier than shades.
  4. Wow, all this complaining about shades. Shades are terrible atm. You waste 2 trait lines so they have the ability to strip a couple boons at range. Other than that it is worse than either of the other 2 shrouds for damage or protection. They got nerfed hard since launch, and do less damage overall than well of corruption, that strips more boons on double the cooldown. Without self shade, scourge barely provides any group utility at all, which was always necro's problem. Wells are the best source of necro damage in wvw, and that got a cooldown buff. If anything you should complain about that, not the ability to clear a condi on allies or do minor damage if you stand on someone. Now instead of being half the damage of other classes (played by people that know how to play their class), it might compete again for best dps. Just want to say that with the last balance patch which took away traited stab and increased the cooldown of all stunbreaks, scourge sustain took a nosedive if not standing near a guardian of some kind. This might help a little bit.
  5. I am probably doing it wrong but I just recently started to try out pvp. I don’t understand why every core stunbreak on necro is 40s. There are fights i get ccd, use my stun break, get ccd and wait to die because i cant stand up. I could use my shroud to soak up some damage but then when i die I have no shroud again and start the next fight disadvantaged as well. What am I supposed to do?
  6. Can you please do something fun for scourges? Every patch it ends up being, you get to do less with higher cooldowns. It's a boring class to play. Removing shade skills from the scourge and shade at the same time even reduced its minor support capabilities. The ranged shade is for damage, the one on the scourge was its support. You removed the support entirely in 90% of cases. You only really apply barrier to allies with your heal skill and that is then the only way conditions get removed by the scourge. Congrats necro in every spec is a horrible support again. There are still zero good utilities that affect your party, so necro has run wells in wvw since the core game. Scourge is now also the least defensive form of necro because the barrier that was its shroud no longer affects it most of the time. I realize that the shade could affect the scourge if no shade is placed, but that just doesn't happen when commanders are looking for damage. The longer time spent on the ground added in the last balance patch basically made sure that shade skills are never used around the actual scourge. Also the trait that reduces incoming damage for each shade placed is useless unless if you use the shade around the scourge. The meta for wvw will either change to bring more scourges so we can get done what was happening before or you'll make it so bad it won't be played at all. There is no balance to some people playing scourges. Necro in all specs is one of the easiest classes to mass aoe people with at the same time. It doesn't do the most damage and hasn't for a long time. Scourges are brought for corrupts and aoe. Support scourge could have been thing if it was given more group utility, but that has never happened. I'm hoping scourge just dies at this point so I don't have to keep playing this boring class. In wvw, classes each have a specific role: SUPPORTFirebrands = best overall defensive support (group stability, group stun breaks, defensive boons, decent healing, some condi cleanse.)Scrapper = best condi cleanse, good healing, group stealthTempest = best healing, very good condi cleanse, some cc DPSScourges = best corrupts (at range), many aoesHerald = easy offensive boons, group damage reduction, ranged power spikeWeaver = range damage/aoes (meteors), some cc OTHERSpellbreaker doesn't bring much of anything to the group that another class can't do better except winds but that is melee range only and warriors leave the group to do that.Chrono died a painful death without its boon support and other nerfed utilitiesMelee classes or single target classes simply aren't the best way to fight a zerg atm. If you don't bring something to the group you don't get included in the meta. Nerfing scourge corrupts will just mean you need more scourges to corrupt things. No other class corrupts boons at range and there haven't been any added. Other classes ability to apply boons hasn't changed so scourge remains the only way to get rid of them without standing on top of them. Other classes ability to apply boons every second (literally) isn't affected. Therefore more scourges will be needed than is around now to corrupt the opponent boons. Scourge is awful 1v1, bad in small groups... and getting worse every patch. Can you fix it in some other aspect so it isn't dead in every game mode?
  7. I think I like this Anet. I've transferred too many times to care about which server i'm actually on. However what many people who haven't transferred don't realise is there are a lot of cool communities out there. There are tags worth following in every server. You can have friends across servers and enjoy fighting against them... that's fun too. My guild has transferred to a link server to ensure different matchups every relink. We get to fight a lot of different guilds and we get to ally a lot of the guilds we have fought and respected from across the battlefield. I know commanders on several servers and I am excited to get the chance to play with them again, as well as new ones I haven't met yet. I have a couple reservations but I think this sounds like it'll be fun. Cheers all, see you out there!
