  1. Considering that a glider skin costs 500 (or 700 with back item) and I suspect mount skins probably involve more work to create, since they have to be applied to a much more complicated model, I consider the 400 gems for RNG skins to already be a bargain-basement price. (Which is one of the reasons I don't get upset with the RNG) Doubling your prices would be more realistic. The 1600gems and 400gems is what ANET originally established as the value for a skin. Technically a little more. Halloween skins 2k -20% discount is 1600gems. There you know exactly what your getting and that you'll be able to use it. 2000gems/5 =400 gems per mount skin. (This should be less because a discount that is always there really isn't a discount it is marketing.) So my prices are really just ANETs original valuation at a per item level. I actually had hope with the winters day skins but then I saw the Demon Skimmer Skin. Oh well, the more time that passes, the less I care and less interested I am in getting a skin since I realize how rarely I even see it anyway.
  2. Translation - devs and artists have no right to a decent living. They are only allowed to work for a pittance. Translation - Not at all. The devs I'm pretty sure make more than the majority of the population with their years of experience. I suspect the artists likely make as much ormore than other artists with similar talents (they have a job in their field [no offense intended to artists but the phrase "starving artist" comes from somewhere]). Of course only they would know. If they didn't, it is a free country so they could go find another job. Either way, I'm pretty confident non of them work on commission and the prices I listed are consistent with what the company themselves originally valued mount skins at. (1600 gems for a pack of 5. ) Finally, a single skin doesn't take anywhere near 2/3 the effort of an expansion pack. Why should it cost 2/3 as much? Boardroom reason: 'There is such high demand we can practically charge whatever we want.' That is their right. For their sake, hopefully their estimates properly found the knee in the curve. My guess is it didn't. Again, only they have the information to truly know. Either way, this household isn't supporting it.
  3. In case the devs/decision makers (not necessarily the same people) are curious. Yes, 1600 gems is still to expensive for a single mount skin. And yes, as a result of the overpricing on gems and pretty much blatant telling of the community to go screw yourselves with regards to their feedback, none of the four accounts in our household purchased or received gemcards this holiday season as a result. What do I think is fair and consistent? The 1600 gems for the set of 5 as in the holiday packs.200 for random chance,300 for random chance of a given type.400 for specific skin of a given type.600-800 if its really really fancy.
  4. I like this idea I like the concept of the idea, but the gem costs are too low IMO.25050010002000Complete gemstore outfits that you can wear anywhere are only 700 gems. Why would a skin for a mount that you can't use in 5 out of 7 game modes be more? In case your curious what game modes I'm talking about, (Raids, fractals, dungeons, pvp.) Edit: Forgot about story instances.
  5. I am posting this because it was suggested by the GM Magical Cowlick Fairy from support@guildwars2.com that I do so. This is the support ticket I submitted which basically says what others already have in this location. "I went to look at the new mounts but noticed there price is completely off.A random chance for a random mount skin is the same price as the previously established (not discounted) halloween mounts. That and one of the mounts is 2000 gems all by itself. This can't possibly be correct. It seems like price gouging. If it is correct I and I'm sure others are ashamed of ANET. I understand you need to make money but be real. That is $10.00 for two random chances. Hope you don't get two bunnies that you never use. Sorry not buying it here. What do I think is fair you may be asking. Well,200gems for random chance300 gems for random chance of a specific type,400 gems for specific skin800 gems for fancy pants skin that is presently 2000gems." Yes, even after 4 days, I still think it is overpriced. Very similar to the initial HOT expansion cost. They fixed that, hopefully they fix this. Shame shame shame.
