  1. business as usual for us long time ranger players, welcome back! lol Core Ranger and Soulbeast are arguably the easiest professions to counter by a good player, the majority of our heavy damage are ranged projectiles that are highly telegraphed and can all be evaded, blocked or reflected back at us. Our melee damage and sustain is subpar when compared to other professions so we relied on combos to push our damage and now all that's been further reduced. I would say it's ridiculous but honestly it's expected when the bads spend all their time crying on the forums that ranger needs nerfs. I've got alts and play most of them so soulbeast will likely remain shelved for now.
  2. Right, but fixing one can negate the other. This was the mess created by ANET in which boon share was too OP so they had to counter that by making corruption easily accessible.Look at the biggest 'needs' in wvw. FB (must have), scourge to be carried by and counter opposing FB, bubbles? See where this is going? You have to start somewhere. This is really the crux of a lot of things we want to address. Boons vs corrupts, damage vs healing, stability vs cc, among so many other things. These are all in the state of being extremely powerful as a way to counter the other side being extremely powerful, and are all things that we want to address moving forward. It's important to keep these balanced against each other, but we want the power level to come down.THe best starting point I could possibly give would be to look at the pre-HoT meta for WvW and start tuning things from there. Obviously the new especs will need tuning in order to fit but in that meta neither boons nor boon stripping where out of control, combo fields had to be co-ordinated and used in order to gain boons for engagements and the power level was such that one job didn't dominate the scene. The one addition to that I would make would be that even in the pre-HoT days many jobs had no space a all in wvw but with the addition of especs and with them being tuned properly at the right power level professions that went unused pre-HoT could be viable. In PvE you have roles, roles need to be defined in WvW and then decide what profession and what espec will fill that role for the zerg, mid scale(GvG or 20v20), small scale and roaming. edit: a lot of these changes should be looked at by your PvE team too honestly, raid content has been made trivial no matter the mechanics you create with the ease of access to boons, ccs, dodges and invulns in the current meta.
  3. one of my favorite builds and the most fun i had in PvP was back pre-HoT running an apothecary ranger trap build that could hold a point and grind down attackers. i only had to fear thieves with high power damage but there was a tradeoff there, that power damage thief was glassy as heck but could bounce all over the map. once i got good enough there where a lot of fun fights to be had, that's all gone away now, there's too much damage floating around. You should have to choose when you build for high damage to lose sustain or high defense with low damage. all of the increases to condition damage should be looked at too, the way condi's are now it's far easier to kill an opponent by spamming conditions than using power damage.
  4. For WvW specifically, most professions should have a build that can be a zerger(if you want that playstyle to continue) or a roamer. while you might have outliers like thief or ranger who are mainly dueling classes and therefore wouldn't work well in a large scale battle the 1v1 potential of those jobs should be the focus of their wvw builds. Druid, on the other hand, doesn't fit in the zerg because it doesn't offer the support it needs to and can no longer roam well because it's 1v1 potential was reduced due to pvp concerns. I don't mind ranger or soulbeast not having a place in the zerg as long as we can be the roamers and scouts of wvw but what Druid brings should work in the zerg but it doesn't. The good support builds either bring more to the table or it's the lack of damage mitigation and cleanse that Druids have and the weird targetting of it's heals and none of the Glyphs have any purpose in wvw at all, and they are next to useless in all game modes.
  5. please make all world bosses similar to raids and dungeons in that you can collect a map/boss currency and then purchase the unique skins. This doesn't require removing them from loot tables or anything, they can still be random drops but if we can eventually grind towards the skins we want it would feel far more rewarding
  6. Boon Rip > Swoop Greatsword opposite direction > Swoop Owl opposite direction > Ranger is now at least 2200 range away from you and out of combat. If he isn't out of combat then he also quickening zephyr to create distance which ALSO grants superspeed because it was ALSO buffed for no reason other than to create the most overpowered spec in existence. No one cares about zerg fights. There is no skill involved in those compared to low mans. I'm sorry but this is your opinion. another player who only plays raids wouldn't have used a soulbeast at all until the recent buffs to power damage because everything else outperformed it. A dedicated wvw zerger still wouldnt play soulbeast over a meta class because it doesn't bring as much as they do to the zerg. the only use ranger had before the slight increase to power damage and the slight reduction to condi dps was as a healbot druid. our dps didn't even matter it was so low, we had 1!! viable dps raid build since the start of raids, condi dps, until the power increase. The only area in this game that ranger has almost always been in a decent spot is in roaming/dueling. i say almost because at one time there was NO ONE who wanted a ranger on their pvp team and they saw 0 use in tournaments. thief can have multiple shadowsteps to move the same distance you mentioned and moremesmer doesnt blink as far but can get pretty closeboth professions can also have access to a large amount of stealthin regards to engineer, the only thing i will say is that a quick look on snowcrows website will show you that engi only parses 100dps less than a power soulbeast. this is a circular argument that can never end where i defend my position of it not being OP and you keep saying it is regardless of the facts brought forth. hopefully non fact based opinions on forums by "god knows who" won't factor in to balance like it seems to.
  7. "A ranger beat me in pvp/wvw so please nerf them. i've never played ranger or understand how the build works but please nerf them anyway, TOO OP!!" the only reason boonbeast is seemingly OP is because scourge doesn't see as much play right now in pvp and spellbreaker doesn't run winds so boons don't get ripped. Heavy boonrip would end boonbeast pretty quickly. Sic EM Sniper is a very strong build but it's less defensive than a thief or mesmer while filling the same role, +1 dps and roaming.Ranger can ONLY roam in wvw, sure it can run in a zerg but not as effectively when compared to the other meta classes. In wvw, where you do see a lot more boonrip, boonbeast still is not viable in zergs, it's too dependent on boons to survive. Ranger has always been a strong 1v1 duelist, that's how it's been since launch, boonbeast just allows for more teamplay than druid or core.I've played all 9 professions to plat at some point so at least have a basic understanding of how they all work so i can time my CC's and utilities. It amazes me that people can still complain about a profession this much without ever having touched it or played it enough to truly understand it's strength and weaknesses.
  8. Shortest possible PvE only pet list:CCRock GazelleElectric Wyvern PowerSmokescalejaguar CondiWarthog(also CC)Lynx
  9. Dual Hammers or Dual Greatswords. Let's get crazy!
  10. This is the single best change that could be made for WvW. thanks Anet!
