  1. @Rubi Bayer.8493, if you could let James know he was pretty darn close to the answer. I tried the Windows + Arrow key thing and that didn't change anything but I did see a window titlebar quickly flicker in the background of the game despite the game staying in full-screen. I noticed the Windows Taskbar on my top monitor change shades, so I went with James' theory that the titlebar was hiding behind the taskbar. I unlocked the taskbar and moved it to the right-side of my top monitor and that didn't change anything. I then went into the full-screen game on my bottom monitor and pressed ALT + Enter, and that finally let the game go into a true Windowed mode with a titlebar that could be grabbed. My issue is fixed although it is odd how the feature might be impacted by the locking/unlocking and taskbar positioning on a different monitor. I can probably replicate the issue if James needs a video. Thanks!
  2. Thank you for the update. Is there a bug with the DX11 Windowed mode? The reason I ask is the DX11 option won't let me actually play the game in a window. Currently, I have DX11 selected, and my resolution is windowed. The game takes up my entire 3440x1440 resolution monitor. When I hit escape and click the little double-box "window" icon in the top-right corner, nothing happens. I can minimize the game but I can't go into windowed mode. Windows 10 Home, 10.0.19044 i9-11900KF, RX 6900 XT, plenty of ram, etc. Two monitors in stacked orientation -- 3440x1400 on bottom (primary) and 1920x1080 on top (secondary) Note: If I'm using DX9 I can go windowed mode. I record GW2 footage for videos and I haven't been able to record 1920x1080 unless I go into DX9, but DX9 doesn't perform as well as DX11, nor is it as pretty... This is a bit of a problem. T_T
  3. Coming to report the same issue. When I died and respawned in the library, many textures were broken. Changing the texture option in the menu would reset the textures and make them appear normally. Death in that instance does weird things to textures.
  4. I, too, had some issues with this implementation. New players won't know about achievements, how to use the watch list, what gear they need to pick from the enhanced armor, and how to do stat selection. I made a video that explains it in more detail for newer players... so, any of you new guys wondering what this thread is about... here you go!
  5. Hey guys, I've been making videos for new and casual players to understand the mechanics of the game. With the recent introduction of the New Player Tutorial Achievements and Enhanced Gear, while I like these additions as a veteran player, I don't think they've very new player friendly. I made a video that explains some about the achievement UI, the watch list, where to find tutorial achievements, the rewards, and how to use your enhanced armor items (picking the right item and stat selection). Do watch, subscribe on Youtube, and leave a comment if you have more questions about the system.
  6. Your points are completely valid and I agree -- I could've added them in here I just didn't think about it. Could you go add a comment to the video and I'll pin it? I always invite the community to leave their comments and thoughts so I could pin them for other viewers to read.
  7. Hey guys and gals, I've been slowly making a video series to educate some friends and family (who are ultra-casual) about the mechanics of the game. The latest video -- the third so far in the series -- is on Crowd Control, Defiance Bars and Stun Breaks. I go over... Crowd Control EffectsUses of Crowd Control (situations and some events)The Defiance Bar States of the Defiance Bar What happens with the Defiance Bar? Exceptions to going all-out with Crowd Controls... Understanding Defiance Bar Health/DamageCountering Crowd Control (Stun Breaks/Stability)Hope this video (and some of the other videos on that playlist) help you guys out.
  8. Hey all, I recently started making some videos on Youtube about Guild Wars 2 and I thought I'd release one about Wintersday since... well, it's Wintersday. It covers the location of the festival, what activities exist during the festival, what events you can participate in, where to find the achievements, and what you get for rewards. It's more of an overview and not an achievement guide -- a starting point for the unfamiliar if you will. Hope some of you find it useful.https://youtube.com/watch?v=TDxKUtTVYsI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDxKUtTVYsI
  9. Hey everyone,Last month I started a YouTube channel and I've been creating some GW2 videos for it. I'm currently producing the second video in a series which is going to be explaining concepts, mechanics and systems in Guild Wars 2 to New and Casual players; an audience who probably wouldn't have thought about some of these systems. My goal of the series is to give players a large understanding of mechanics, introduce them to build theory crafting, and then show that the build and gear templates can be useful for casual play. The first video is about Attributes and Prefixes. Upcoming topics include: Conditions and BoonsInterrupts, Crowd Control and Stun BreaksArmor, Weapons and TrinketsItem Level and RarityUpgrades and SuffixesUnderstanding TraitsSkill SelectionBuild Theorycraft and Meta-Build ResourcesUsing Gear and Build TemplatesCurrent State of Templates So, if you can, give the first video a watch and let me know if there's something more I should add to the presentation. Each video is going to build on the previous video a bit. I'm also looking for ideas about topics that I've missed. If there's something that you think should be in the above list, let me know! Thanks guys and gals.
  10. Last night I logged into Twitch to see what was going on. LoL and HearthStone have over 100,000 users. WoW had over 10,000. GW2 had about 500... way below really obscure games that I've never heard of. You guys need hype.
  11. Living Story trailers are marketed toward existing GW2 players -- new and old. They do NOTHING to lure in the outside world. It doesn't tell you that there's a large, active community of helpful players. It doesn't say the game is free to play. It doesn't say the expansions are affordable. It doesn't say, most importantly, that there isn't a subscription fee. It doesn't say anything about the features of the game; the concept of the Living Story should be a selling point, not the episode itself. Sell the game. Sell the pricing. Sell the low investment cost. Sell the accessibility. Sell the active community. Pull people in with the things that would make them say, "That game looks good. Let me give it a try."
  12. So, you give up. Cool. I keep trying. And it's okay to discuss making content that should be the most accessible ...the...most...accessible. You don't have to get defensive and decide the only thing I should be doing is throwing my bat and ball in the crate and going home. And you certainly don't get to decide that I should simply quit because that's what you do.No, but who are you to decide that the content should be so trivially easy that even the lowest skill player should be able to faceroll over it? I mean, after all, making the content trivial to where literally anyone could beat it without any difficulty would be ...the ...most ...accessible. And apparently, you want to have a conversation about making the content most accessible... so, no, I'm going to fight that notion.
  13. Aren't you the bloke that said it was easy? That you did it first go, no deaths? You said: "I didnt find the Scruffy fight to be particularly difficult, but it was annoying." So, you're exactly the type of person I was referring to being unable to have a discussion with. One the one hand you tell us you weren't challenged and the fight wasn't difficult. On the other, you're telling me it's meant to be challenging. So, either you're SO GREAT that you didn't notice the challenge, OR your argument is wildly inconsistent. Thus, "the type of person who won't understand my point of view and can't accept it's valid". Until you can relegate the inconsistencies in your own logic (is it challenging or not?) there's no discussion to be had because the only person being challenged is me, between the two of us, and you're saying I should be. You don't get to decide that for me. I do. And if you WEREN'T challenged, then making it easier for me so I'm NOT challenged seems pretty fair, right? No, because it's not about being "fair" - you can always get better. Some people can't get worse. By making content easier for people who can't play the game right then the experience is going to be lessened for everyone else. Why should the content be made easier for you? I simply don't understand this argument. If some people can't get worse, they probably already find it easy, so there's no challenge for those people. You're assuming people who find the story challenging "can't play the game right" - that's a loaded assumption. It also ignores the base difficulty increase in story over the years in favour of demeaning people "who aren't getting better". Not everyone is on a mission to self-improve their gaming skills. Not everyone is playing this game looking for super challenging content in story modes. STORY modes. Why should the content be made harder for us? Just because you haven't found it challenging enough? Do you even understand the argument you're making, sir? You're making the assumption that the people who "can't get worse" are some top-level elite players. They could be people who think the current content has the right mix of story and challenge. By making the content easier you're lessening the experience for those people.I've said it before -- if you want to see the story of GW2 without playing the game as it is... go watch some Let's Plays.
