  1. I really like this idea tbh. Keep pet families unique (feline, canine, bear, birds etc) and make them more like expansion pets in overall performance. Keep their different appearances as "skin" that you can select once you've tamed that version.
  2. ... ... ... Be careful what you wish for. I wanted the phoenix for ages, until we actually got it. I am still baffled (and quite offended) at the fact that the GW1 phoenix simply looks better than the GW2 one. Now granted, these pets you've all requested are all already ingame (as models that is), so at least you'd know for sure what to expect... #makethephoenixgreatagain :(
  3. Hmm... Wasn't there a suggestion in a previous thread to simply make the spirits untargetable and mobile by basically turning them into scrapper gyros? When activated they fly around as a tiny ball of light next to the character, providing their regular effects around them* (*the player). I kinda liked that suggestion, rather than trying to make basically revenant Espec features but easier (and better). This would make them much more useful in content like zerging in WvW (where rangers are frowned upon) since they would be able to bring more unique buffs to the table. I believe that with this change, Soulbeast (and maybe even druid - THAT STILL NEEDS A REWORK ;-;) would start being a welcome addition to the gameplay... Obviously I would not be opposed to a more through rework - including changing the spirits function (active or passives, "longerish"-term effects or "bursty" effects like stance-sharing etc), but I fear that the more Anet decides to change spirits, the higher the chances of them being either completely overtuned or completely useless.
  4. Hmm, is this a thing? :o Are there any examples of WvW gear scaling differently than PvE gear as things are right now? I am aware of that there are (many) examples of ability adjustments, number-wise, but I do not think I've ever heard of gear stats have actually being different from their PvE version.
  5. I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to them reworking home instances to be less dull and more useful overall. I would love an option to have it "open" to my guilds/friends as I have a lot of friends that are new to the game that could actually use all of the nodes and stuff I've collected over the years. Having the option to have one or two "room mates" wouldn't be too bad either so that we could pool resources (with a maximum limit of course) into one home instance instead of multiple. Being able to move the nodes ( "furniture" ) and thus make the gathering easier (by having everything in the same room :] ) wouldn't hurt either. People who like to decorate can do that while I pile everything in the middle of the biggest room. X] Not really against the idea of adding new places (and "pet" collections) for the home instance either - would love to have a cabin in Lornar's Pass as it has always been my favorite zone - but I would definitely prioritize making home instances more useful to the average player first. The issue is that it is difficult doing home instances useful and satisfying without having WoW's WoD experience where the cities become empty cause everyone is camping their home instance. :'] Perhaps a version of the Lost Ark Stronghold where one can do some light crafting material missions and/or craft stuff overtime. ... Idk, I feel like home instances really requires a rework overall, but I am really uncertain how Anet would manage to make it worthwhile and fun for most players without making it a tedious daily chore.
  6. I too would love some new weapons - unfortunately, since Anet already mixed a great lot of weapons via skins (like the hand crossbow skin for pistols, and whip skins for daggers) - I fear that the selections of weapons we could possibly get would be limited. That said, these would be my wish list: Crossbow - I really like crossbows for the more... Witch-hunter / inquisitor-esque fantasy. c: Fist Weapons/Unarmed - Should obviously arrive with the monk class. :] Spears - As melee weapons and/or as throwable javelins. I mean... Paragons? :] I was surprised they were not introduced in PoF. Besides, spears should not in any way take away from the melee staffs. Staves and spears are used in completely different ways. :] Spell Caster Orb/Tomes - Similar to the legendary focus "The Binding of Ipos", but preferably without crouching down. :] Imagine standing there with a straight back and a book hovering above your hand. (Aion-style!)
  7. I mean, they could always make a decent skin for the raptor that could be a horse. ... But then again... After seeing the griffon skin "Sacred Pegasus", I believe Anet should stay away from horses. I seriously thought the skin was a out-of-season April Fool's joke until I actually saw it in the gem store. :|
  8. Thanks for the recommendation. I did give his channel a peek and his build is indeed impressive. ... The choice of music though? X] Instantly muted haha. :]
  9. There are tons of ways of doing a fun and unique long-range build for elementalists. :] The first and most obvious one (to me) would be giving elementalists the longbow - because elementalists makes for a very good candidate for the "Arcane Archer"-archetype. :] In general it could be less AoE oriented than the staff, less stand-in-bad-circle-oriented and more of a caster-style, singletarget / piercing targets (while of course including AoE with but with more of a instant explosive feeling rather than just "hail of projectiles"-style :]) Could always include fun fields depending on the element to give it some party synergy aspects! It would certainly be a lot more different from the other available LB builds. For a more DPS oriented long-range build I'd go with the following on top of my head (think of it more as suggestions for the *style*/*archetypes* than actual "these are the abilities I'd give the Elementalist Archer"): Fire attunement - fire arrows that apply burning and with a slight AoE explosion (that deals strike damage) on impact, more AoE oriented build with fire ball-esque feeling (D&D fire ball, not MMO-fire ball - translation: meaning big AoE explosion, not a tiny bolt of fire). Air attunement - rapid attacks that pierce, more piercing abilities with one or two evasive abilities and movement speed buffs, and as such - a more mobile playstyle. Deals (much) less damage than fire (and earth below). Earth attunement - heavy projectiles that hit hard and possibly apply bleeding, but do not pierce nor explode. Access to one knock-back ability, but no mobility abilities (outside of possible utilities). Slowest attack speed out of the 4 types. Great for single-target encounters that do not require a lot of mobility. Water attunement - Icy projectiles that do not pierce. Access to fields that apply chilled effects and a bit of CC in terms of slows and enough hard-CC to make up for the fact that the only other element with hard CC is Earth. Focused more on "peeling" in PvP/WvW and defiance bar breaking in PvE. The reason I specialized each attunement is to *not encourage constant swapping* - as I've understood things, elementalists already have enough specs that relies on being played like a piano-rotation... A spec that relies more on staying in a certain attunement until the situation requires another type would be an easier and more traditional caster spec, while still holding the feeling of being at least slightly versatile and useful in different situations. c: Other than that, I can think of a lot of fun things they could do with stuff like Focus in main hand for a even more "traditional" caster style, *if* the Elementalist community wouldn't want a LB for whatever reason. c: A focus in mainhand could also open up for good hybrid builds, giving access to both supportive and/or damaging builds. :D
  10. I only casually tried the untamed in OW since I adore my SB spec for most content. While all of these points have already brought up, I thought I'd just add to the pile (note: I am not going into numbers, just QoL/bug stuff): * First and foremost, obviously: fix the EoD pets not responding properly when summoned. * Having "Attack My Target" and "Return To Me" on different bindings for Untamed compared to every other spec feels really odd and honestly really bad. * Not being able to use pet abilities when downed really feels like a downgrade. * The dome caused by the "Enveloping Haze" ability is rather obnoxious to be around. Playing in melee with the screen going all green and murky is kinda meh. So I have to ask (and I realize this is 100% personal preference and not necessarily feedback as much as me just wondering) * What is the Untamed supposed to do/be? * While it may be up to preference whenever one actually likes it or not, the pretty much established fact is that anything the Untamed can do - SB (or even core) can do better (CC being perhaps the only point where this statement is false, not quite sure tbh). Allow me to elaborate, even when I am playing a full selfish OW build on my SB, I can still pick stance sharing in my build to support my allies with unique offensive and defensive buffs. Meanwhile, untamed is 100% selfish all the time and it does not contribute with anything unique for it, as far as I can tell. Even pets with buffs use their buffs less regularly than the core ranger since they cannot use their buffs when they are "untamed." Thus, I really do not enjoy playing Untamed unless I am playing by myself. As soon as there are other players nearby, I'd much rather use my SB build since I can offer some fun buffs for my allies while still surviving very well and doing great damage. As far as I understood, Anet designed Untamed with a WvW brusier in mind - and even if we ignore the elephant in the room (which is pet survivability in WvW) - why would anyone bring a untamed to a zerg even if their pets were immortal? The pet can destroy projectiles and remove boons, but because of the really awkward pet movement - these are all situational at best, and unreliable or even useless at worst. Any class with these abilities can do the job with 100% more reliability since the abilities won't be tied to a sketchy pet AI. My request, without being able to be super specific about it would be the following: Find a way to make the spec able to synergize with other players. Let the pet have access to unique buffs depending on its type (deadly, stout, versatile etc), rework some traits to allow us to share some boons with nearby players, or perhaps even introduce a "supportive" mode for the pet; where it won't leave your side and rather focus on helping you and nearby allies in varying ways - such as boon support, healing, ressing downed allies or something else to encourage the Untamed to not be forced to be a "meh-ish" DPS, and thus enable some alternative gameplays and "jobs" for the spec as a whole. :D Obviously, doing this would put the druids limited usefulness as a whole at risk, but tbh - druid should have been properly reworked years ago. :)
  11. Not sure what kind of idiot thought it was a good idea to react with a laughing emoji - everybody was new at some point. Anyways, to answer your question: No, one cannot reset spent hero points (HPs). Worry not though, there are many more hero points available than actually required for all elite specs in the game in the game (in fact, there are so many hero points that one can instantly complete a new elite spec whenever a new expansion hits :) ). Remember that ordinary HPs in Tyria only grants you *one* point per HP, while HPs in expansion content (PoF/EoD/HoT) gives you *ten* HPs per point. Be aware that these HPs in expansion content often are much more difficult (whenever they include combat) than the regular ones in Tyria (this is especially true for HoT-content), but there are quite regularly HP trains that you can find via LFG. :) Alternatively, like Myun said, you can sit around a while in WvW and buy HPs via the "Testimonies of Heroics" currency. :] I recommend buying the maguuma ones since those are much more difficult than the PoF/EoD ones. :) Best of luck, and happy hunting! Hope that druid is more to your liking! Remember that there is absolutely nothing wrong in running regular core ranger as well - especially in OW. :)
  12. Thank you very much! I'll give the axe/torch/dagger a try c:
  13. Hello! For ranger in general, I adore soulbeast - more specifically cele or condi soulbeast. I knew all along that untamed would never "feel" better than SB for me, no matter how it performed, as I already loved the very concept of SB. However, of course I wanted to at least try it out a bit... And so I did - I tried Untamed with full zerker armor, but I was bored rather quickly. I tried it with celestial gear and (unsurprisingly) found that my survival was much better while the damage was more than decent enough, but I couldn't really figure out what kind of weapons to run a part from the shortbow. Sooo... Regarding condi/cele untamed for OW exclusively - has anyone got any ideas that I could try out for fun? :] Anything from pets to weapon/gear setups. I am just really not feeling the zerker-vibes right now, but would love to try untamed a little bit more before benching it for SB. :']
  14. Hello! So I been longing to play condi-ranger for ages (because I am bored out of my mind), and it has been very long since I last had a condi build at all. I been checking some guides all over and tried to make up my mind, but I cannot say I am actually making any progress. The main question I am struggling with is: which stats should I go for? The build I need right now is primarily for open world content, I am still running regular powerbeast for fracts and I am intending on setting up a WvW condi roamer once I have the time to play WvW properly again, but right now I just want something more fun while grinding out the Seasons of the Dragons achievement along with finishing up general open world content. I have been leaning towards celestial or the "trail-blazer" (vipers trinkets with tankier armor and weapons). I just want something that is not as much of a glass canon as the traditional LB sniper powerbeast is. Any suggestions regarding stat-selections for a comfortable condition-based open-world build?
  15. My first thought to all the happy engineers in the chat was "Oh, just you wait..." :] The good news is - IF the mech actually has a better AI, then I see no legitimate reason for Anet to keep it from us rangers. If not, then they are gonna have all the hyped engineers being sad about the poor pet AI / ultra nerf on pets (cause F pet builds x] ), which in return would mean that Anet might actually overhaul pet AI as a whole to get people to play Untamed and Mechanist. c: All in all, I am happy for the engineers - it certainly looks kitten and awesome! I hope that it'll prove as versatile as the teaser video claims. c:
