  1. All these except for the last are correct to some degree though. It's just bad faith because you have no intention of backing any of them up and just rapid firing them in the hopes something looks right. And like most rangers, you're doing a poor job of hitting your mark. Though I think map wide strategical failures are a bit more complex than a few simple tactical errors of a few keypresses but hey who cares about nuance here? The last one is factually incorrect. We've already established players that do know how to fight don't have a problem with disablers because they have proper knowledge of skills. Also why would players that only pvd need disablers? Without ennemy players, siege doesn't fire itself. At least fact check your strawmans. 🤣 It seems like you think "git gud" is a bad faith argument. In that case I'd rather have not any faith because I prefer games that require interaction and require people to accept the consequences of their decisions.
  2. I'm not arguing that disablers are good design. I'm saying your argument is bad because the example has no application in reality (1 person stopping a group of 50 who can't be bothered to build more siege or have the most basic of counters, eschewing meta classes, or like.... pvdooring) It should be obvious that a group that can't even handle basic things like that isn't going to be very effective regardless, siege disables or not and thus will be spending a ton of time doing nothing anyways. We generally expect people in this discussion to be able to grasp basic concepts of WvW, yes. If all you gathered from that is "but you can counter it with proj defense so its fine", then that is the problem. Also btw it's not just projectile defense that stops disables.
  3. You guys have scouts? On SBI we would just see the camp being pinged 5 seconds before it flips and you would go there and see a trail of dead mechanists. with maybe one left autoattacking the RI lord. But yeaaaa I hate it when people move the golems away from the camp. Wtf are they gonna do at spawn anyways? Although given the abuse this person seems to be giving out, it's just a troll. Real PPTers would place a backup golem behind the house so when the golem dies, the explosion will send you towards the other one.
  4. Idk sometimes people can get pretty delusional and get mad when they realize they can't enforce their own version of the game. I mean everyone laughs at pepegas for getting mad their duels outside a keep get interrupted; this is just a large scale version of the same thing. Though I think it's pretty funny when they don't want pugs following them and go visible when they realize they can't do it alone, and then go back invisible once the pugs have outlived their usefulness. It's whatever is convenient for reasoning.
  5. If 50 people can't cycle 3 bubbles or blocks between all of them and managed to clump 50 people's worth of supples towards siege together, they are afk and should be doing literally nothing.
  6. Oh it sure does, just not in the way people are expecting. In 0:30, the berserker wakes up, and attacks for like 5 seconds, making 1/3 the WB's damage already and then goes back to sleep. Granted this looks like a roaming build (note that the s/s set is completely unused) so the damage wouldn't be what it could be. If one wants to drop some bombs, take out JI (no point teleporting to people when it's a w key fight). and put in sword of justice. Also it may be odd to say this because this is gw2, but also gotta 1111 harder; losing too much damage due to not autoattacking constantly. And also f1/whirling light needs to be spammed; it's just damage on the table you're leaving. I mean I do love me some WB bursts, but it could be even better.
  7. I mean, it's kinda dumb golems can get boons but it's definitely not a top problem of WvW. The argument doesn't even make sense internally anyways. Even if you can break in golems, defenders using the OP claim buff would kill everything escorting the golems, and then build their own OP boon golems to kill the invading boon golems with the help of OP claim buff. Because the defenders have easier access to supply, they will eventually have more golems and win. And nobody attacks defenders anyways because of super claim buff in this paradigm anyways. Although to be fair that sounds cooler than what actually happens. I would totally go for golem vs golem fights. I'll just leave it at that. I think third party criticism by avoiding them directly but referring to them directly in a reply to other people in plain view is pretty weaksauce anyways. Not that I'm always above that sort of thing and honestly the overall argumentative style is similar to my own and somewhat commendable in some regards-- but.... that is if I were completely devoid of humor and self awareness.
  8. A lot of blame is attributed to pve'ers afking but honestly most of the afkers I've seen are actually wvwers who seem to always be there. People who actually dislike the game mode will get up and leave pretty fast and not spend hours on end. Casual players tend to have lives and aren't going to be clogging up the queues outside of prime time. Like if someone takes the time to think of cringe ways to exploit the system, especially in a wasteful fashion, then they are not casuals. Sure you have degens that are building their 25th legendary or something but those are by and far the exception. People often exaggerate the importance of legendaries but guess who's going to be the most vocal-- people that struggle to get them. Of course it's gonna sound like it's the most important thing in the world and the world will end if they don't get them. Like even this week people blamed pvers for the increased queues because of the event, and while that is true, our queues are often clogged already by certain big guilds trying to fit on a certain map (typically ebg/hbl) and don't want to go anywhere else. But beyond my subjective perspective, I think it's also clear that these WvW requirements really do not deter people. People still do them, and the requirements have been like that since the start. If the GoB was such an obstacle, then legendaries would be disproportionately made by WvW players-- and lol, that's just silly. Furthermore, I would also say a lot of people that come into wvw and end up hating the game mode do so for very valid reasons. Perhaps instead of making it so that some pvers don't have to do wvw they could actually make it a game mode that is more playable for most people.
  9. Quite literally, even if the commander isn't exclusively gatekeeping. If you're a dps, this means you have max 10 slots to compete with, and if this is an organized guild running, 3-5 of these slots are auto taken. So you basically have to be running a meta dps spec like berserker or holosmith to even have a chance; the other ones is basically rolling dice. Furthermore, because of this inanity, it doesn't matter if the squad lacks dps, because there are probably no shortage of guild members willing to switch to dps. Commanders that don't do this find themselves at a huge disadvantage vs groups that don't, and those that run pugs are already at a disadvantage at many way than one. So even if you do get on comms and run coherent builds- if you're not running on top of the meta as a dps, you're basically told to pound sand. Unless you are known by your team as a exceptional good dps, then you can put in several times the effort to get similar results. The final result is that players need to submit an application showing 15 years of experience, because it is simply expendable. And even if you do get past all these obstacles, it is very easy for a dps to be held back by lackluster supports that aren't held to the same scrutiny as dps are. But of course it is only natural to place pug dps with the weaker supports or just other pug supports of unknown quantity, and guess who will shoulder the blame first? Though I suppose it is funny to hear people bash the pugs even when the parties is stacked as such, but I feel these things happen at an unconscious level regardless. It has never been a crappier time to pug, or run open if you don't like playing support. And it doesn't help that most of the support builds are so braindead and devoid of any real decision making. I suppose primary supports like Chrono/Firebrand get some leeway in creativity and simply because they have more leverage to run weird stuff, but nobody cares about you performing well; only when you don't.
  10. I mean, you can't blame OP. They died in a video game and that clouds their judgement; sometimes a lot of nonsense is generated. I can empathize with that. But in general, that is our problem. We know anet has had some pretty bad ideas for WvW. However, it's also evident players somehow come up with even worse ideas so it's quite hard to filter
  11. I actually think power WB is easier to learn, and also scales better if there's additional players. Cele is good too but I feel it's more work. It's technically higher risk than cele but it's rather relative and who cares if you can just run away anyways. There are some annoying bunker builds you cannot kill, but again just ignore them. Harbringer OP? Probably. I'm sure someone's going to be like "well, my so-and-so build will kick your kitten" but good luck finding me when I'm already 5 screens away. Also anecdotally it's generally the power willbenders that I view as a threat because they can wtfpwn you if you're not paying attention. The Cele ones don't seem that impressive but I think that's because they're playing too scared most of the time, rather than the actual build. Like yesterday I saw a willbender tear up 7 of our players that got lost from the tag. I don't think they were cele because of their kill speed but then again those were SBI players who are made of tissue paper so who really knows. Note: If you want to make a montage, just make sure to fight whatever we're linked to during EST prime. Shortbow Cele Vindicator is pretty chill too.; you just spam dodges and then use the gs to leave if anything bad happens. Honestly, I was killing people while reading the tooltips and realized I had another set of skills! However, it requires SotO.
  12. Agony infusions are only used in fractals; so wvw infusions are fine anywhere else. Sadly there are no guards in pve. Though I suppose if you're not a power build wvw infusions don't even mean that much and anything non-power tanks guards easily enough anyways. And we are power crept we destroy lords quickly anyways. Of course if you want to min-max it's best to create characters just for fractals. It's more cost effective than buying templates, or wasting time swapping things around and potentially mixing them up. (eg accidentally switching to a pve build in wvw). A fractal character wouldn't need to explore the map either. Character slot expansion sales should be soon too. The main problem is of course those damned cosmetic infusions that are only agony resist. I think that should be changed. I would say legendary infusions but given how they've handled these things, maybe not.
  13. https://metabattle.com/wiki/WvW 5 out of the 7 builds labeled meta are minstrel builds. Typical party setup will be something like Pick 2 Main Supports: Firebrand, Chrono (both minstrel obv) 1 Healer: Vindicator, Druid, Scrapper, Tempest (all minstrel) 1 utility: scourge, or an extra healer from above (again minstrel) 1 dps: Zerker/Holo So 80% is pretty reasonable to say. Some may even do 2 chronos and a firebrand in the same group but that's so vomit inducing that you should pretend I never said it.
  14. Yea I actually did. I missed the part about the condition and strike damage reduction, I thought it was going to be just be additional condition and strike damage. Although in my defense they also took away the part "You cannot be downed while Courage is active." which was in the old trait but doesn't seem to be mentioned when Courage is active so it really seems like they just uprooted the trait entirely into a new one.
