  1. About rifle - you don't kneel for damage.Imo, you should take m7 trait (which restores initiative if you hit malice cap) and spam skirmisher shot (rifle 2), and when malice is full, you use f2, dodge roll (can take signretet of agility if you miss one stealth attack) or elite skill to go stealth and use death judgementThis way, you should always keep enough ini for defence, stay mobile in case of obstruction (yup, don't kneel at all) or enemy aoe, and in this way you can do good damage (for fractals/raids is meh, like 20k with buffs on golem +/- few k if you do it bad or well, but you self boon so in ow you do better than some of dedicated dpses without support)It's easy, but not as boring as spamming pistols 3, and has much better potential dps
  2. Have you used the 80 lvl boost? If so, you have to accept or refuse boosting this character before you will be able to exit Silverwastes
  3. It isn't a change in direction, but a plot-twist. That were characters in game who depicted Dragons as forces of nature, intentionally by devs, to give more deepth to the story. But devs showed us that they intended those npcs to be wrong - and it's just a plot device. Environmental storytelling always pointed that dragons are sapient - if what Konig told isn't enough, I'll point at story of Svanir and Sons of Svanir. Is persuasion a force of nature, or it must be performed by someone intelligent and wise? It appears already in low lvl map, and that was first thing in core game that made me think that something is wrong with those "forces of nature"
  4. I'm playing mostly engi (Holo in pvp, but was playing long time as scrapper in wvw), and thief. Usually, as a engi I had no problem with thiefs (struggled only as condi holo, but not as power holo, power core or scrapper). And thats since beggining of last year, so I don't understand where this "thief counters engi" comes from .-.Ofc, it's experience of single person, so I don't have to be right. But it seems I'm not only one who feels same
  5. "Paper is so weak, I always beat it with scissors" ^^
  6. This topic gave me idea for a engi trollbuild (idk if it can be viable). Teoreticaly, it can achieve more than 100% (realistically 75 if you don't start with being stunned or flame turret gets destroyed before placing smokefield + you need to time picking it up well) uptime of aoe blind of 240 radious + bonus not pulsing blindIt has to use:Bomb kit https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Smoke_Bomb_(engineer_skill)Flame turret https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Smoke_Screen_(engineer_skill)Mortar kit https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Flash_ShellAnd you can take, for example, for additional blind.Main traits https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Smoke_Bomb_(trait_skill)And https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Flashbang Ofc you take mh pistol for https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Static_Shot And they tell that thiefs smokescreen is stupid :D
  7. Some of you might look at me as at idiot, who instead of l2p decides to blame the game for fails. But what is happening is just awful.I can't play GW2 PvP. It's unplayable. I'm getting lags which makes me stuck in one moment for 10, 15, sometimes more seconds. I can see my character channeling one skill, and other players running into walls etc., it's just a lag. And I understand, lag can happen. But it's only in GW2 PvP. I was doing raid, without any problem, then running around PvP lobby, spamming skills just for fun, no problem. But as I load to the PvP match, every skill i try to use is delayed. Sometimes it takes 2, 3 seconds after pressing skill to use it (and as I'm playing as engi with 3 kits, it mean i'm delayed for twice long, because I have to wait for swap then to use skill). And during fight I can just get a lag when I can't do anything for longer period of time.2 weeks ago I was able to play with music from YT in background. I can still play other games this way without any lags and disconnects. If I'm on discord during playing GW2 PvP, voice communication is smooth, without any lags. Well, as I wrote above, I don't have any lag or skill delay even during raids.Do you know what might be a possible issue and how to fix it? Anyone experience same issues?
  8. Fahrars wouldn't prepare kids to live in other kind of society. They are finding a role in which kid is good, then are focusing on it. If they would have to life in other kind of society, where you have to adapt to other roles, they would have problems. For example, like in western european society, where you often work in job which isn't connected to your specialisation - and thats why our schools have their aproach, with general knownedge teached and with grades, it's more suitable to our reality, they aren't to make you perfect in anything, but to give you possibility to develop in any direction in future - Charrs don't have that in fahrar, it's education heading into one, most fitting for the kid and whole society direction. Actualy, schools like fahrars were working irl, in totalitarian regimes around the world (both on right and left side of politics). And they were raising really competent, but fanatical peoples, who knew only what school teached them. And this is also the case for Charrs. Fahrars can work only in their semi-totalitarian culture, with controled economy based on war. In this situation, fahrars are best solution. But in different situation, different means are betterPS: I would upvote your first post, but I was raised by parents in same way their grandparents raised your parent, and I'm sure there is a lot of people who had similar, not so stresfull childchood with parents. I just don't agree that most of parent-child relations are toxic, I'm sure they aren't in my area
  9. Which holo skills are high damage instacast?Holo for sure is performing very good, but most of it's dmg outside of aa comes from skills with cast time, and which are telegraphed before they deal dmg
  10. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Special_Forces_Training_AreaA place to test your DPS in raid lobby. Getting there guide is in article
  11. If we compare engineer rifle to real firearm, it would be probably semi automatic shotgun using different types of ammunition. While using slugs (autoattack, overcharged Shot), it should have effective range (arrow/bullet hit the target at which you are aiming and excludes it from the fight) comparable to longbows. Sometimes longer, sometimes shorter - depending of which bow and shotgun you are comparing. In combat, they would ususally be used at distances like 150 metersSome sources states that AA-12 automatic shotgun have effective range of 100 meters with special amunition, and maximum of 200 m. ~ and I can't tell if it's maximum killing range, or maximum range on which bullet still have enough power to deal a lot of damage, but isn't accurate . Some longbows have effective range of... 200 meters, but some can shoot even further - arrow just won't be lethal and as accurate. I suppose that both, AA-12 special ammunition and longbow arrow would cause simmilar damage at range of 150 m.Main difference should be that long bow can't shoot at long ranges as fast and as easy as shotgun, because you have to use a lot of your strenght to use all the power of the bow and it's harder to aim - recruit soldier should be able to hit a target at 150 meters easilly with shotgun, longbow user would need a years of practice to hit a target at that range, but master would be able to kill a target in further ranges. And we have to remember that in Tyria we have #Magic and we can use it to explain why rangers can use longbow to rapid fire.In terms of range, there is nothing to fix. If we want to go into more realism, the bow should have a longer cast time them the target is further away. But again, we have magic, and technology is still in development. Lore vise, we can assume that rangers can shoot with they longbows at longer distances than engineers with regular quality shotguns.
  12. Other way round, actually. Ember got in the backstab at the start of the fight. Riona backstabbed figuratively, Ember literally xdBut I still dont know why Riona nad only a part of armor ripped off and had claw marks on arms. Like... What Ember did at beggining? Tried to take Riona's armor off? Throwed a rock? Aimed for arms with her claws or aimed for weapon? I know she may be tired after being a decoy, but the fact she just wasted her chance is kinda weird.Or maybe she was lost in situation and didn't wanted to kill Riona or risk loosing the Claw. I don't have acces to full book right now, so i can't check what they were talking about after dealing with Riona :s now I just dont remember most of Riona's wounds came from her lack of experience with the ClawThis is what Im talking about - it's mentioned that Ember striked first, but Riona dont have any dangerous wound. I suppose it's because Ember didn't wanted to kill her. If she would want to kill her, Riona would end with throat split open like Vanguard before (or she was really to tired, otherwise, it's just don't make sense)If we want to judge which race have better characteristics (and game shows that they didn't matter, everyone have same possibilities), we shouldn't use just one example (earlier I have mentionet another one). But I think it's topic for other discussion

  14. In Ebonhawke sewage the same Charres have killed a human soldier (lieutanant) with a single hit .-. Riona was just really good soldier, so she was able to win against Ember easily (it was also a backstab :D Ember to the last moment thought Riona was on her side)And ultimately, Charrs made two human civilizations fall. But it seems to me that such scuffles do not make sense :p
  15. During war time, Flame Legion units were probably better equipped than other Legions, but still, you can see how charr armor looked during gw1 on screens and compare it to gw2 armors or Ebon Vanguard armors. It's like nothing, and this is first clue to assume that Charrs those times weren't capable of manufacturing quality weapons and armors for most of the Army I would like to point out that the same humans that fought them were mostly leathers (looking at ascalonian guards) and some of the humans that went out and slaughtered them were wearing just cloth or in some cases naked tattooed skin... I konw it's true, I mostly wanted to point the advantage of armor of Ebon Vanguar and current charrs (and probably current humans, cause they are now better equiped too).In situation when charr and human don't have armors, and both of them have any kind of weapon, they are like in equal situation. Both can deal huge damage to each other, and who would win depends on other factors than natural strenghts. In GW world, I assume mostly on will to fight, skill and plot ^^ Actually, in an 'all things being equal' scenario, a charr would be far more likely to win. Physically, the average charr has a massive advantage over the average human, standing at least half again as tall as a human with proportionally more muscle. But from the other side, is much bigger target, easier to hit. And even if charr have more muscle, it have also proportionally more weight.Even if it makes charr hit harder, if you use any weapon which make momentum, strenght differences won't change a lot. If you need "5 units of strenght" to kill, the fact you have "6" or "15" dosn't make a direct difference in favour of one side :D
