  1. You do have Staff Proficiency enabled. I just checked on my own Druid, and the icon is colored the exact same way. It just happens to be grey. (edit: Actually, it seems all elite spec weapon proficiency icons are colored the same way.) There's no way to skip it, or any other trait if you're training an elite spec, so you don't have to worry about that! If you don't have SoTO, as detailed by Crystal Paladin just above, then make certain Druid is selected as your third traitline. Without that, you cannot wield a staff.
  2. I am...not thrilled. But we do need to keep in mind the apparent context: it's said that the IDEA of GW3 is greenlit. As in, "Sure, maybe one day we can actively focus on its development; seems like a good idea in the future." Not "Okay, all systems go, let's actively start developing this thing!" So that's reassuring.
  3. Okay! And in return, I'm not interested in doing WvW for Gift of Battles, or map completion for Gift of Exploration, so I should be able to skip those two things in order to get the reward and progress my personal goals in game! I'm also not interested in doing PvP just to progress a reward track, so I should be able to get those PvP-exclusive rewards some other way, because I'm forced to do stuff I don't want to! ... No. You want the reward, you do the work - and being able to tab out of the game, or mute it and listen to a podcast, while you quickly run through the story is hardly work. Last night I took a character through the first three parts in A Bug in the System to get access to Sandswept Isles because I didn't want to shell out volatile magic for another portal scroll. Took me half an hour, if that, going at a leisurely pace. Speeding through it would have taken far less time. Only part of that that was even a minor inconvenience was the slightly buggy boss fight in A Kindness Repaid. ...wait, so if you don't like doing the story, and you don't like doing PVP-oriented stuff (presumably that includes WvW)...what parts of the game do you like? Raids?
  4. What, really?? Oh wow...going to have to test that out next time I'm in-game. That's genius! I love the sound design in this game. Edit: Finally got a chance to check last night...and indeed, I can hear the difference. It's so subtle, but the attention to detail is truly incredible.
  5. Some tiny effect that will never get old, is how grass and shrubs move when you run through them. It's just delightful to see the game world reacting to your character's motions instead of being static. Or an amusing example - when you get a mail message underwater, and you're still using the pigeon mail carrier (not sure about the others)...the pigeon leaves a trail of bubbles when it swims through the water, instead of the feathers it normally leaves behind as it flies. It's hilarious and adorable. ❤️ edit: Oh, forgot another one! Hair and cloth physics! I came to this game from SWTOR, where hair is stiff as a board and cloth physics are nonexistent. Skirts cling to characters' legs like saran wrap, and trench-coats and capes (and twi'leks lekku, for some reason) are utterly weightless. They'll get tangled up inside the character model, or even in itself in a giant knot of pixels. So when I loaded up character creation for this game... I actually spent a while just twirling my character around, marveling at how his hair actually swishes around in response to movement. Wearing flowy skirts or coats with beautiful cloth physics is awesome, and swishy capes were a dream when they were first made available. I know it's a relatively simple thing, but it made this game all the more wonderful to me.
  6. One, "naming and shaming" is not allowed on the forums here, so you should delete the account/character name. Two, this is not an offense worthy of reporting. What are you even reporting him for? Using a weapon near you? Three, go to your options menu, go to the sound tab, and click the drop-down menu for "other players' unique item sounds." You can mute projectile noises.
  7. I'm not laughing at your predicament. I'm laughing at your incredible entitlement. "I have a hard time doing this thing, therefore I demand you change it for me." Patience. Practice. Look up guides. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/A_Fungus_Among_Us This is a difficult adventure even with "working" hands.
  8. I was standing next to a ranger with a sky-chak pet. For a long time, I couldn't figure out what the CLOPCLIPCLACKCLOPCLOPCLOPCLOPCLIPCLACK noises were, but they very nearly overrode every other sound. My gosh they're loud. Didn't we have a similar issue with the Juvenile Jacaranda, and that noise was toned down? I hardly ever notice the buzzing now. A similar fix for the sky-chak would be welcome.
  9. That doesn't prove very much. Look closely at the norn's model. There are a few parts where her arms completely break - they snap inside the body model, awkwardly jitter, or remain locked in place when they should be moving. Now imagine a charr or an asura doing the same dance, with their obviously inhuman models. Yes, ArenaNet would likely have to re-work every dance animation from scratch, save maybe human and sylvari (I heard somewhere that they use the same internal rig, but cannot confirm that). It's a nice idea, but unfortunately it probably translates to far too much work on their ends to be profitable and worthwhile.
  10. The last two times a player character's voice changed (male and female charr both got new voice actors), ArenaNet sent out an announcement to let everyone know. If there's been no announcement about the female asura VA, presumably you ran into a bug instead of a legitimate change.
  11. No. Wouldn't be averse to long hair; that would be lovely, actually. But a flat no to the first suggestion.
  12. ...oh no, that's going to be their April Fool's joke this year, isn't it? 😂 "Now available: invisible horse mounts!"
  13. Oh! One other thing: when the Gyrocopter glider/chair skin came out, my guild was talking about how it, or something like it, would've made a really neat skyscale skin (maybe with mechanical "legs" to grip onto surfaces?). Since there are always comparisons between the "fighter jet" griffon versus the "helicopter" skyscale...this would just take it to its logical extreme. XD
  14. I've heard it's a semi-mythical creature in Tyria, wandering the land invisibly. The Mad King Thorn even tamed one and named it Mr. Gum Drops! Or...he says he did, but since it's invisible nobody can see it...well, I'm not going to say he's a liar. He might hear me. They say if you stand on one foot, spin around three times, and chant "horse" into a mirror, it will pull your cart for you, then leave it perfectly parked with some centaur-like hoofprints nearby! (See the carts near the Queensdale hunting lodge for proof. They exist! I know it! I'm not crazy!!1!) These creatures seem friendly enough...surely our mighty Command--Wayfind--Grand Pooh-bah can tame such a steed? 🤔
  15. Agreed! Sylvan hound jackal skin has been my dream for years at this point. ❤️ But imagine a woven tangle of branches adorned with flowers for a skimmer, or one of the "feathered" raptor skins where the feathers are long leaves... Also, some kind of horse skin for the jackal would be amazing; we got the kirin a while back and that was awesome.
