  1. Well, quite a few responses. Seriously, Thanks for the offers of help and assistance. It would have been nice to have gotten at least one response to the actual title of the thread. I posted on this account simply because it was the one affected, but dont worry, the account and it's characters aren't struggling. I didn't ask for rental mounts or free mounts. I was hoping for a discussion on whether so much of Festival content should depend on having purchased expansions, when Festivals are a significant draw for new players. There is so much content in the game already, that I question the need of that in Festival play. We cant impact that, but, that conversation might have caught a developers eye. I also suggested adding this type of content to regular game play. I really enjoy the game and if I see something occuring that I think might impact it negatively, I'm going to bring it up here. We all have that right. I find the need to discredit, amsuing and the threat of having to stay in core Tyria even more so as it's been the origonal intent. Log in and dailys are simply faster in core Tyria, so I can spend more time on my main. I do support the game through gem purchases on both accounts and my main has Hot and Pof so I have the advantage of knowing what I would play, and where. That's the only reason I even see how non mounted players are affected.Next time, I will try to frame my thread title more directly, even if it reduces the chance of it being noticed where it could makes a differnce.
  2. I'd advise you to read the post 2 above yours. They didn't try it without a mount, they were already doing it without a mount. I've seen individuals clear all 5 holograms in a few seconds. They have great builds. We shouldn't all need great builds to do one event among many in a Festival daily. I really enjoy the event concept when mounted, and I'd like to see the event expanded into regular game play but it's remarkably frustrating unmounted and I can see it driving away new players. It would be great in a different format within the game.
  3. I totally support this idea. All it takes is one time of hitting the tiny box inside the small box and your attacking a Boss with a balloon or sitting in a chair while he wipes you out. All Novelty items have lost all value to me and are not considered a reward or loot anymore. This change would make a world of diference and probably generate Gem Shop Sales of Novelty items, once again.
  4. Ok, this paid account is limited to core Tyria and will stay that way until Hot is not forced on those who buy Pof. Clearly nobody actually tried this event without a mount. You dont have mobs covering every area in WvW like in the PvE game so you wont get stopped and might actully be faster on foot with the right character. If you'd like to spend massive amounts of time sitting and waiting to hope an even spawns on you, you can. That just seems absurd to me. Participating in one hologram spot gains nothing even though this toon has level 8o massive condi. It finishes the minion masher task in 3 sets of minions so it's doing massive damage to one hologram site but thats all because it's stopped from reaching the other holograms every time, while mounts go sailing past. The event is so overpopulated that even if it spawns on top of you a few tail spins, or cannonballs wipe out most of the mobs so one spot is not enough. Waypointing is done by many players. There's no real advantage to unmounted players there. The point of this post was not to complain, but to show that the event is not fair to all players and I personally feel events in a Festival should be created and maintained so skill makes a difference, not how much money you have , or expansion you've bought. Maybe it's just me but Festivals events always had a feel of personal challenge, and not a competitive feel to them. This event is just radically different. If you are convinced it's that simple, so was I, till I tried it without a mount. Try it.
  5. Festival content should be fun for everyone. Reasonable competition is fine. When events become restrictive due to accomplishment, they become not fun because many players simply can’t play the content. This is the issue with the stampede. Mounts have added a lot of fun to the game but they also have some negative effects that mounted players will never notice. When you are mounted, you don’t get stopped by the mobs on the way to the holograms. Remember how bad that was before mounts? There is plenty of time to reach enough holograms to succeed in the event. There is no problem reaching the holograms regardless of how far they are from waypoints. When you don’t have mounts, you get stopped by everything. By the time you have cleared enough to move on, the event has moved to another stage and area, or it’s over. It only lasts 5 minutes. You can try to use waypoints but it seldom works because the holograms are intentionally far away from waypoints. The few that are close to waypoints are the first to be completed. I don’t think it was the intent to block any players from festival content but I do think the level of popularity was severely underestimated. When you see how many players are doing this event, the issue becomes very clear. If you disagree, try this event without a mount, just once, and you will see the vast difference.Yes, the event can be completed at 3am by anyone. So what? I don’t think the event is encouraging to new players. They expect an opportunity to gain some loot and some progress and maybe a level or two, without massive effort. What they see is everyone else getting the loot but they can’t even get progress. Solutions? Reduce the map cap for these events, create notification when players have completed enough of the event to achieve reward, reduce reward slightly for over killing the event, move the holograms closer to waypoints, expensive but at least the event can be completed. Other ideas welcome.
  6. If you have to put these Festivals in core Tyria, why do you make the Festival events nearly impossible for players with only core Tyria? If you are going to make Fetival events that need the gliding skill, put it in a Hot zone. If you are going to make a festival event that needs mounts, put it in a POF zone. Want an example? Hologram Stampede. If you have a core tyria only account, you cant do this event because every individual instance of the event is done by those players who use mounts from a different area we cant use and the events are long over before a core tyria player can get there. You can't get credit, let alone multiple credit like the rewards are staged. Some Festival events seem important enough for the developers to add mount rental. Some are clearly not significant, yet the final rewards require them. If you treat people like this do you think they will buy more or do you think they will ignore the gem shop till it changes?
  7. Thanks! I must have looked at the Digital Deluxe upgrade a thousand times but never recognized it for what it was. When I bought it on the other account many years ago the sticker shock must have stuck with me and I just glossed over it. That occasional discount was in May.Yes, I'm looking for the mount ability as it's become rediculous trying to get to an event before it's over, and although gliding is fun, I really dont want to get stuck with doing Hot dailys.
  8. For clarity, I'm refering to the 2 week golem bank I receive on all new characters made with a paid account with the Digital Deluxe Version purchased from the gem shop. I wondered what was different since both accounts were paid but there is a {show} option on the "Account Types" page that verifies it was the digital deluxe gem shop purchase that granted the mistfire wolf and golem banker, among other items, that I had made on the first account but not the second. Looks like I missed it when it was offered around May 1st. I'll buy PoF as soon as it's available without installing Hot. Thanks for the help.
  9. My Guild Wars 2 (Origonal) account was purchased 3 weeks before this document was posted. I see " Guild Wars 2 (original) accounts do not have access to Heart of Thorns (expansion) or Path of Fire (expansion) features. In particular, they are not able to use gliding, obtain any mount and unlock the mastery points in central Tyria. ADDITIONAL limitations apply only to free accounts". I see "Initial Resources New (paid/fully unlocked) accounts receive the following: Starting equipment, received following character creation, which includes armor, a weapon, and a 20-slot bag, but it's not a new account. Looking at https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/230165307-Guild-Wars-2-Account-Types-Free-Core-HoT-PoF which is presented as the full explaination, is even more confusing. What I suspect is that an update to a deluxe edition is required, and I think I may have seen it in the gem shop recently. Wont be buying any version of Hot.
  10. This is a paid account. I just created a new character and did the first event in the village of shaemor and noticed once again that I did not receive a 2 week bank in the mail for the second time. The mail account is not full. I did receive a 2 week bank last week on my other paid account. I attempted to submit a bug report including a picture showing the empty mail and empty character and IT"S NOT POSSIBLE TO LEAVE A BUG REPORT. Dispite numerous attempts, the submit button does nothing. Please provide the 2 week bank and check out the bug report system. Thanks!
