  1. Be careful what you wish for. 1st the clueless Gov officials barely know what a search engine is or how or how it functions. The last thing we need is them meddling in gaming. 2nd do you really think companies including ANet will take the lose of revenue laying down? There is no chance of that. They will introduce more ways to make up for the lost revenue and in more invasive ways and likely end up being things you can avoid.
  2. CMC drops a duce on Scrapper's what a shocker. Who would find these changes wanted or acceptable. Well I'm sure there's a couple forum goers who do.
  3. Beta weekend, WvW was a mess and a blast. Then culling after launch running around with my guild scouting and the 7 of us all the sudden are right up in the enemy zeros ass. Ha ha good memories though
  4. Like always its all rng including the gift key I opened 6. Got the cape/glider on key 2, key 6 got another rare it was a full BL weapon ticket. So IDK seems just like normal to me. Sometimes you roll the hard six.
  5. Well you should play however it makes you happy. If GW2 doesn't fit your budget or make you happy there aren't certainly f2p games that might. Personally for me, GW2 is one of the cheapest AAA MMOs one can play.
  6. Sure, why not? There will be plenty for you to do.
  7. I want to play GW2, but i definitely don't want to play the "old and broken" GW2. So i'm kinda stuck on being unable to decide - thats why i need your opinion on the points from the original post. :) Its free to DL and login and you shouldn't need to regear if you have ascended or even exotic will do for most things. No one can really tell you. Don't buy the xpac till you make up your mind.
  8. This reminds of the group voice channels WoW had. I used it in and off with groups when I played it worked great for grouping functions like dungeons or groups with friends or BGs. It works as a great intro for voice and groups. Super easy to turn on and off in groups. I did really like having it available however as I advanced in the game I rarely used it as I was in another chat app with people. While its a fine request, GW2 is likely to late in life for the feature it won't return a lot of value but it is a nice QoL feature. And certainly for WvW it would be useful or other group events that require coordination. Maybe a better request would be like with the wiki so if in game someone links a discord server clicking it or something similar will launch a browser tab with it or the app if it's installed to that server. Not exactly my area of expertise in Dev, so I'm not sure if there's issues or valid reasons its a bad idea but maybe something like that is possible.
  9. That's like saying PvP breeds toxicity, when the actual reason for people being toxic in PvP is the actual abandonment Anet expressed when they decided to let hackers/botters, and blatant cheaters roam free. In both the Twitch situation and PvP, it is not the environment themselves, it is the common denominator of Anet being the issue and folks just shrugging everything else/ being compliant to poor content because it doesn't effect their play style. Lets be real this attitude is the problem just because a game doesn't do or go the way some of the players wanted doesnt excuse this behavior. Really they should've kept spanking kids in grade schools might have curtailed some of this disrespectful behavior.
  10. If you want to play a game that highlights vertical progression then there are any AAA MMOs that provide this experience, heck pretty much all of them. That is not what GW2 model is, it's one of the few games with horizontal progression. I'd wager most that play this game like the small gear gap this creates and highlights the skill between players. Creating random stats or bonuses would create a gap as one would always be the best, then that will be the combo everyone is after leaving the rest as an after thought. As for crafting and materials after you craft ascended gear, then Legendary is next it provides the ability to swap stats a very convent feature. It provides a long term goal for gathering mats and such. Idk I appreciate the model in GW2 and the fact we have mutliple AAA MMOs that can provide us with different options that we might enjoy.
  11. I don't have any advice but you can use gw2tp.com to see how items have been selling. For example: https://www.gw2tp.com/item/30685-kudzuTo track the prices over time and see how many have been listed and sold.
  12. Most of this is a minor issue with more play time they become non issues. First what the heck are you lugging around in your bags?Suggestion you can have items sort by bag if you use the different bag types Eg bags that only hold equipment or mats or vendor junk and when picked up it sorts to them till they are full then over flows. My guess is that is why they don't have a sort it would defeat the purpose of those I guess. As for recognition the more you play the more familiar the icons are, within a few days that aren't many you shouldn't know what they are at a glance. Here is how I manage my bags maybe it will help. Click on the gear: Auto deposit all mats, right click on a salvage kit and salvage all blue gear or all green, deposit all mats again. Go to a vendor sell all junk. That cleans up most of it. Now that most green, blue, yellow gear comes in bags that stack its easy to go days without salvaging or depositing things,, except when leveling up. Meh it takes an hour to max a crafting prof to 500 with boosters and saved up mats. IDK Sure boons and condis could be bigger or a different color but that creates other issues with the color blind players IDK. More time playing the more familiar they are. Maybe a boon/condi tutorial like the dodge roll for new players so they can see what they do. I don't understand what the feedback is here, you want to change the layout configurable action bars you can move and change like SWTOR has or addons let you do in WoW? That said I'm all for improvements good luck.
  13. Everyone speaks for themselves. Summit1g speaks for himself and no one else and his limited 3 or 4 day opinion carries no more weight then anyone else's. Like most opinions that lack experience and information they are less informed. As for downstate it is fine the game is designed around it. Better players adjust and play around it.
  14. Legally, this is on a very shaky ground. I can easily point out that even that these two factors exist, it does not negate the value of what you get is lower than what you put in. Also, the effort to farm the gold is substantially high that without putting significant effort, you cannot realistically afford the boxes. Ultimately, it is substance over form. Is the objective of RNG in the boxes is to get people to purchase more of them, which is available to do through actual money? Would that make people addicted to gambling and/or people with mental sickness more vulnerable? Yes and yes. Then the game should be flagged as 18+ or remove the RNG entirely. Idk sports card packs and Pokémon packs are the same thing except you get a physical item. Everyone wants the Joe Borrow rookie card instead they get the Rex Chapman and Robby Anderson cards. So they buy more packs then a box of the cards. It is the same mechanics except with pixels. Oddly no one going after them since they don't expect card packs to baby sit their kids. Maybe Anet puts a 18 years + warning on it and an age checker. But much like the tobacco industry successfully argued for many years in court, till the MSA agreement, the personal responsibility defense. Whether or not the companies would band together or file individual suits who knows. They probably have already thought of more mechanics to put in place to generate the revenue they'd lose like time gating mechincs you can buy pass with a day pass ect. No, actually, case law has shown that things like Pokemon or baseball cards offer value. People buy the packs to get the random cards - each card has value since if they were offered for sale individually, people would buy them to complete collections. It was only in the mid-90s that companies began to play with the odds and offer "chaser" cards that were more rare than others. But the courts have so far determined that you are still purchasing something of value, and that the chaser card was a nice bonus. But do the contents of "loot boxes" offer the same value? For example, my most recent black lion chest (got a random key drop) had three things that I would never purchase on their own - okay, the statuette was fine and given enough of them, I could get something I would use - but the rest were essentially things I would never purchase or that no one would pay for. Like a Revive Orb and a Teleport to a Friend. These are things that have little, to no, value. And then there's a question of "personal" value. For instance, I don't care about minis. But if I get something that's account bound, I can't even sell it to gain some value from it. So yeah, there's a difference between trading cards and virtual loot boxes. Like someone said value is subject and your account has value each item added increases the value, maybe by penny's whether it is account bound or not. You can sell your account for money. GW2efficiency gives you a value of your account which increases with the skins obtained in BLC increase your account monetary value. People sell their game accounts all the time for cash so it does add value. Again it is very much the same principle as card packs per the gambling argument being applied to packs. There has been an argument made about this already:"American self-regulatory organisation that assigns age and content ratings to video games, have cited and compared loot boxes to booster packs of trading card games and argued that loot boxes do not constitute gambling because booster packs of trading card games were found by the United States courts not to constitute gambling."
