  1. - Cut the effect of might by 50 % - Cap critical hit rate at 90 % - Cap condition duration at 80 % - Cap damage multipliers from traits to 20 % - Reduce baseline critical-damage to 120 % The problem is, everyone thinks "I want nerfs, but NOT ON MY CLASS!" XD. Everyone is truly overpowered, except you. You are just pure skill and talent ;). That is why I rather go for nerfs as listed above, rather than focusing on class specific adjustments. By introducing the three caps listed above, some builds (meta) would try to add condition-damage to power-builds to compensate the DPS loss. I've seen that before. Very entertaining. Usually makes the rotations much more complicated, which would result in a further DPS drop automatically.
  2. If you google "ranger gw2" you get: 1.) the wiki entry 2.) meta-battle 3.) the q/a part 4.) the video suggestions 5.) SnowCrows 6.) HardStuck Underlined ones are build-lists, asking you what you want to play and offer you the perfect build for that situation. MetaBattle and HardStuck have difficulty scales, telling you how hard those builds are to learn and control. Both sides also tell you in their guides that exotic gear works fine, no need to start with ascended gear. They show you what gear you need, stats, runes, sigils and relics. Explain how the build works, what to focus on and give tips about critical situations. - Welcome to Guildwars 2! This is an MMORPG: - Massive - Multiplayer - Online - Role-Play-Game The game launched in 2012, so it is almost 12 years old. The core game and personal story are well designed and should be used as a tutorial to get you into the game. By using an instant level 80 booster, you skip the tutorial and get overwhelmed easily. We will not / cannot stop you from doing so, but be warned that this may lead to you rage-quitting the game due to total confusion. MMORPGs require time to learn and get used to the mechanics and the environment. Endgame here is massive, but very complex. We have plenty of options, but each of them has their own mini-cosmos with its own rules. Try to get familiar with the /wiki command ingame. You can type this in chat and link items/locations via SHIFT+Click behind the command. Then press ENTER to open the gw2-wiki, with a detailed explanation of that thing. If you do not want to read, which is totally fine, you can try one of our dedicated content creators such as: - Mukluk - AyinMaiden - Laranity - MightyTeapod - Vallun - CaffeinatedDad ... there are more, but those are the ones I know from memory. They have guides and tutorials to everything relevant in GW2 including some very detailed class & build explanations. If you want to save time and are a quick learner, you can modify the video speed to 1.25x. That works for most explanation-videos, even tutorials and learnings of RL/work stuff. If you have any detailed questions about class performance, I highly recommend you to visit our sub-forums professions / ranger. We also have a Players Helping Players section, where you can ask everything you want - just be polite. Note: Fresh account, created 4 hours ago, last online 4 hours ago, 1 post only (this one). I know what this looks like. The title has a few keywords, which may lead new/interested players to this page - via google or other search engines (yes, there are more ^^). So I just don't want this 'post' to be a red-flag for anyone curious about the game.
  3. [monthly bump] Currently at ~ 190 members. No joining requirements/restrictions. Everyone minds their own business = privacy has highest priority. No community. You can do your own guild-missions to collect tokens, claim stuff independently in WvW (max. aura/buffs), learn/use scribe, use buffs, listen to music, test mounts ... etc. Gathering nodes on T3, so you can farm them together with your maxed out main-guild. We also have a partner guild with same concept and T2 nodes = even more nodes to farm. Veteran or Newbie does not matter, neither does EU or NA.
  4. Not everything is meant to succeed. When I start a new project, I go for several different features for the first preview. Then wait for the feedback which ones are worth to continue and which should be scrapped. For a game like SW:ToR, which was basically a clone of another MMORPG with a really really well done paint-job, it was a wonderful addition. But for a unique game like GW2 with countless of features, elements and themes ... it was an overkill that only overcomplicated the system. Imagine it like cooking a dish. There is a spice-rack on the wall with tons of different flavors. If you use every single one of them, the dish is ruined. Although every spice is meant to enhance it. GW2 has reached its limits with story flexibility quite early. But it was totally fine. Because of the other features. ToR on the other hand, used to carry half of the story with the personality system. That consumed loads of resources and forced the development team to pretty much write every story-line three times, even quests. With multiple endings.
  5. You can optimize gathering to a very ridiculous level nowadays. To each their own. Regarding the classes however there are some that can do the job better than others. I know a lot of people love doing gathering with Herald. But in terms of mobility, quickness, stealth-access, Engineer and Thief are way better picks. On the other hand, in the days of Scavenger Protocols and nodes being guarded by low-hp mobs only, it would be a little 'cough' inefficient to skip that extra loot. I use a gathering DD build that hits like a truck and almost 1-shots every mob guarding a node. I do not need stealth, although I could maintain it permanently. I would lose so much loot if I did. - Something I was requesting several times over the years was a better PvE ONLY adaption of the Warclaw. In its current form it is just decoy. Does not have any useful ability. I would not mind giving the Warclaw an ability to gather while mounted and maintain permanent stealth. Again PvE only, not interested in breaking WvW (more)! Maybe with a trade-off mechanic of slowing down its movement speed and drastically reducing its HP pool. So basically a sneaking-mode for a cat. Two new masteries. Preferably SotO or Core Tyria, with a few extra MP added to the game. - sneaking (= perma stealth) while walking slowly and being more vulnerable - ability to interact with nodes (gathering and hero point) while being mounted
  6. We have finally reached a point in the game, where Mystic Coins are considered a bad reward - despite still costing ~ 2 gold on TP 😕. Either OP is very rich and has more stacks of MC than inventory/character/bank-slots, or they are just ... picky. Sidenote here: The weapon-skin is a placeholder. The 150 Astral Acclaim seem to be the real reward. Considered how easy the tasks are, I'll probably do the dailies (3 events per map) as often as possible. All the tasks for the main achievement revolve around either slaying the local enemy type in small quantities (20-50), doing events in the area (10) or participating in the map-meta. Note that you can progress/complete all three by just participating in the map-meta. I do not have much time to play right now anyway. So i highly appreciate this event, same as the previous one. Thanks ANet!
  7. In terms of build-diversity, both improvements are useful. Engi shortbow is yet another gimmick kit. It is a little overpowered, if used (in)correctly. I've given the Guardian pistols a try this morning. Easily managed to peak beyond 18k DPS with a LI 6-button core-build. It is fun to play and does acceptable damage for my standards. I'll keep it ^^. The other weapons however are difficult to utilize for me at the moment. I really want a build with Necro swords, but everything I've tried so far is either boring, over-complicated or does not really fit my requirements. Time will tell. But overall, I'm happy with the changes.
  8. Now that both the weapon-master and the new weapon proficiency have been out for some time, I'm curious how the players liked them. Three questions, one answer each. You are free to explain your choices, but you are not required to do that. Disclaimer: This is just a normal poll from a normal user. I do not seek to lecture ANet by the results of this poll, neither do I try to prove anything with it. If you do not like the way I have created it, feel free to make a better poll. If you feel offended by anything, please hit the report-button. Thanks for your participation and happy easter o/ 🐇
  9. I do not recommend using any search engine for that topic at the moment. There seems to be one source of information (?) with different translations and interpretations. The existence of GW3 would explain a few things. But it does not excuse everything. My guess is, if it is almost finished: they stared mid LW4 with the development. Looking forward to real information about this topic, preferably from ANet directly who is mocking whom? XD They would never do it that way! From one of their usual publishing platforms (3rd party gaming magazines) with an exclusive interview.
  10. I do HP runs in Heart of Maguuma, mostly with unexperienced players to unlock their elite-specializations. Tried different classes and realized it is mostly a matter of learning the mechanics, rather than the class itself. When I make a new character, I usually challenge myself nowadays by just diving into the HP bosses blindly, figuring out how to play the class on the go. But that is my way of spicing things up after 11+ years. Anyway, the class that I am using for most of my carry HP runs is Thief with a Staff/PP Daredevil build. Not exactly the existing power DD meta build. I've customized it a little to fit my needs. I also use the Jade Tech Defensive/Offensive Protocols to provide me with all the necessary buffs. I can easily solo the ones you have listed except the shroom in TD, I just avoid doing it. I collect all HPs in VB and AB, so I can pick the easy ones in TD ^^. Here is the build I am using: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PayAYprlZwuYZMM2JW2WntcA-DSRYihzbOqRhlRmpQFVgbfDYR4lNoC-e The meta suggests for Thief to ignore vitality and just pray the target is dead before you run out of HP. But that does not work in the jungle. So I boosted the HP pool to 23,755 - which is ridiculously high for a Thief. You do not have to play 100 % perfect and are allowed to make mistakes, before you have to waypoint. Crit cap with fury and 268 % critical damage and very high upkeep of might stacks. While the protocols are active, you hit like a truck. On targets with high mobility, I usually stick to staff and just alternate between dodging and vault (5) when they launch their attacks. It is fast-paced combat, which is not everybody's piece of cake. But it is imo a lot of fun to play. It is my second main for a few years now.
  11. I keep asking for negative stat-combos. Higher positive improvements in return for weaker other stats: Blood Berserker + Power + Ferocity - Vitality Frenzy Berserker + Power + Precision - Vitality Lethal Force + Precision + Ferocity - Toughness - Vitality Pestilence + Condition Damage + Expertise - Vitality - Toughness Doom (inverted celestial) + power - all other attributes Lucky Dice - vitality - toughness + all other attributes Monolith + Vitality + Toughness - Power - Precision - Condition Damage - Expertise Chanter + Concentration - Expertise
  12. Today I had my first real field test after all the patches. Specimen Chamber event for the weekly Inquest slaughter. I arrived a little late, but got most of the loot and had the whole weekly filled up in < 3 minutes. I had to use both Shortbow and Mortar Kit in combination, but the bow definitely proved useful in terms of tagging a lot of enemies quickly. Same as with my other builds, the Synergy with EE and the other explosives traits really adds up. Looking forward to test it in WvW against the stack/boonball-meta. You have removed retal a long time ago, which buffed every AoE-tag tool already. And opposite to the mortar kit, the AoEs from the shortbow are no projectiles = cannot be reflected. That is really convenient. I basically feel like a child spending the night in the toy-store right now. Scrapper is stronger than ever and you gave me a shiny loot-stick. Sadly I do not have much time to play right now, but I enjoy every minute I can play. Thanks!
  13. Thanks to how Jade Bot Scavenger Protocols and Rifts work, doing Tier 1 Rifts in certain LW maps can be quite fun and rewarding. Sandswept Isles (LW4) is awesome for karma-farmig. When I go there, I usually do rifts or bounties (joining commanders) while waiting for the Specimen Chamber event-chain to start. The pre-event at the door is most rewarding, as it spawns tons of NPCs in short time. With an active scavenger protocol and Karmic Retribution unlocked, you can squeeze a lot of stuff out of this event. If a few people participate in it, you are most busy spamming aoe attacks to tag as many enemies as possible. When it is a rift-map, you can farm more. At least Tier 1 Rifts are not very difficult to handle, while still summoning a decent amount of NPCs = loot. Should also work with Thunderhead Peaks, doing rifts between the north and south meta. Probably other maps with Karmic Retribution (link above) and rifts. >Rift maps< What I also can recommend is Dry Top, when it an active map (with tags). You have plenty of events going on almost everywhere, people telling each others where those are and map-rewards (piles of silky sand & geodes). The piles, which you get both as event-rewards and map-rewards can result in Piles of Coarse Sand, which sell well (imo).
  14. Still hanging around 180 members. Plenty of empty space. Easy T3 node-access. Important sections are connected via portals for quick access. All mount-rentals unlocked (so far). Easy access to PoF/Elona. Region (EU/NA) does not matter. No joining-requirements. No guild-interaction. People mind their own business.
  15. 1.) Exploits are not getting fixed. (Ab)using them does rarely leads to any noticable punishment. 2.) Defense participation. 3.) Stealth tags with 30+ members. 4.) Team chat being used for exchanging RL cooking recipes - although there is content on the maps. It still happens once in a while (EU). 5.) Indominable classes remaining indominable for months, while others get balanced within a few hours if they happen to overperform. Aka favoritism.
