  1. Bigger numbers go a long way. But yeah, there are fundamental issues no amount of buffs will improve. Prime among those is how small the effect areas are and how long it takes to actually set the trap. As has been said before, this feels like an excellent rework for the bomb kit made as a weapon instead
  2. Sure we can have weapon swap as long as we all accept the nasty nerfs that would come to all the kits. I have always felt that Arena-Net should have given the class weapons swap, but with an extremely punishing cooldown based on the number of kits equipped. It would start at 12 for 0 kits, and go up by 8 secs for each kit. I still think that would still work, but the class is over 10 years old right now, and fundamentally changing it would be profoundly unfair. I think maybe hoping for similar functionality if Elite specs ever come back would be a better bet.
  3. The symbol being a PBAoE seems to be for the sake of balancing its damage potential. It feels weird. I don't mind if it stays as-is, but it will take getting used to.
  4. The issues have been outlined pretty well. My suggested improvements: Detonations should be blast finishers (remove the fire field) Essences should last at least twice longer on the field before they reset. Essence radius needs to be much wider. Well-sized I think. Auto-Attack gains +25% damage for each essence on the field. Double all chain effects.

  6. Engie pistol changes are weirding me out. I dunno how to cope with actually having a 5th skill to use.
  7. I think Sword has always been kinda bland, but it has benefitted from being tied to a genuinely engaging class as part of a package. Now that it is on its own, it cannot stand alone. Sort of the opposite of Hammer. Now that it is free of Scrapper, I have very little reason to ever use that subclass now. This is actually a challenge for all classes and weapons across the board. At some point, A-Net will need a balance pass for weapons just to make them all work better. I am hoping the reason for this beta was so they can gather info to see how far they need to go. Unlike with Elite Specs, Weapon Master cannot ride on novelty alone, the new weapons have to feel like a marked increase in power for all classes.
  8. I agree that they will not implement anything, but I generally think that their new approach to weapons should consider giving each Elite spec mechanics that directly interplay with weapons. This is more for flavor and less for build crafting.
  9. In an effort to fix build variety, gadgets would probably take more priority to update than turrets. Actually, kits too. The state of turrets is not an accident. A-Net clearly does not want to try to balance them.
  10. In terms of how they work and what they do I 100% agree that all the non-grenade kits need to change. But any kit rebalance is coming with a grenade kit nerf. Pretty much the only Engineer build not made better by Grenade Kit are the support builds, and that is a problem if the other kits are powercrept or even if they just get a QoL update.
  11. It is not that there is no value in weapon swap, it is just that if that happens, it would come with a host of changes that you may not like that may change the nature of the class.
  12. Weapon swap sounds like an invitation to piano harder, so I won't fight against people getting what they want, but I will say that no good will come of it. Massive reworks for Scrapper would be the least of my expectations. Also 1 new mainhand and one new offhand weapon.
  13. The mech not working underwater was clearly some cost-cutting, but the implementation is really bad and they should really fix it with something. It does not have to be particularly good either, just good enough to play your role in t4 underwater fractal.
  14. I would say elixir and recently sneak gyro are the only genuinely problematic elites. And with the former, the tool kit ability is pretty ace in PvP.
