I'm pretty sure there are many players who can confirm that it's not uncommon that this happens unprovoked, especially in pvp. Some people can't handle a loss and start to rage and calling out (in a really toxic way) in team chat or whisper that other player in the team they think was the cause of the loss. I've experianced this a few times over the years.

Really? Then please tell me how this is not victim blaming. Are you implying that the OP forced them to send these toxic PMs, that it wasn't their own immature choice to do so? This is pure form of victim blaming. You could google it if you are not aware of it. It might help you to get less toxic.

Im not surprised, it's a normal behavior irl, not only in these forums. Just wanted to call it out since it's a really toxic trait. I'm just happy I don't know that person irl.

Although it can be easily bypassed, they will still have to spend a little more time and energy on it because they would have to change the status back and forth every time. Imagine doing that in the middle of an ongoing match. As it is now, they don't have to work for it, it's too easy for them.

I have a separate tag for only whispers. But not because I get spammed by invisible (or visible) trolls, it's so that I wont miss any PMs when the other chats easily gets flooded at times. Just a tip but wont solve the problem if you also need to see the PMs at the same time in the same tab.

I'm well aware of the fact that people could change their status back and forth so they could whisper others. I just don't think it was relevant to mention since it will simply be like if they log in and log out. When they change their status to invisible, people that have them on their friendlist will see the system messages as if they log in and log out. I agree that blocking and reporting those who are toxic is the best way. I have never said anything else so I don't know why you feel thay you need to tell me that? It's like you are implying that I would thinke something different than that blocking those people would be the best solution, just because of my opinion about not being able to whisper others while invisible? The reason why I think no one should be able to whisper others while invisible is no more complicated than that I simply think it's not fair that others can't whisper back while the person is invisible. This opinion of mine is not an answer for a solution to this behaviour so please don't take it that way when I never said it that way.

You are actually trying to explaing things to me that I've already said in my first reply to this thread. Well to be honest, I also already answered my first question "But what is the point of going invisible and still whisper others if they can't respond?" in that first reply aswell. I don't agree that poeple needs to be protected from themselves. It's their own responsibility to behave mature and civil, even if someone are insulting them or their mother. If they can't, they really need to work on that and maybe a warning or a ban will be a wake up call. I still don't think removing the posibility to use whisper while invisible will penalize regular players, they can still use the mail function to PM others. I still think it's only fair that people shouldn't be able to whisper others if others can't whisper them.

Why do you assume that those who doesn't like the changes played mechanist before? I've always been playing scrapper, for years, and never touched mechanist in pve. The new changes is simply not fun, it doesn't mean it's too hard. Does "not fun" and "too hard" sound the same to you? Just accept that some people doesn't enjoy the same things as you do. Just beacause you enjoy it doesn't make you better than anyone else.

But what is the point of going invisible and still whisper others if they can't respond? No matther what content they are whispering. How will it penalize anyone? They could still use /say, /map, /party, /squad, /team and any guild chat and ofc the mail. And why shouldn't some players have an opportunity to respond? Wouldn't it be better if players couldn't send whisperes to others while invisible from the start? xD

yes please, revert the changes as to how it was like before the June update. Now it is just clunky and not as fun anymore. And please let med keep hammer for qdps scrapper after the new expansion, I really like the hammer. Don't want to use mace.

I've tried the new build for quickness scrapper and it feels really clunky and not fun at all. I hope they change it back ho how it was before the June update. otherwise I might get bored of this game again. They always do this, they take something fun and makes it really boring. No wonder why I get more and more bored of this game. My inactive time gets longer and longer because of these changes. This also made me loose my hype for the new expac 😕

The risk you take for using 3rd party tools like arcDPS is that the creator could, if they wanted to, make changes to the app that would violate Anets rules. If I'm not remembering it wrong, some years ago arcDPS had an addon for inspecting other players gears, and that was surely violating the rules of Anet so the creator would have to remove it to make the app safe for it's users. Edit: I think this was about another dps meter app back then, when googling i can't find anything about arcDPS ever had gear inspect It's unlikely that arcDPS would add anything now that would make it's unsafe to use, but you can never know for sure and that's the risk you take. Also Anet could change their minds about these tolerated but not supported 3rd party tools. Keep yourself updated if you want to use it.

Are you sure they actually blocked you and wasn't set to 'invisible'? My experiance is that they put their online status to 'invisible' so they can spew their toxicity in whispers whithout getting fired back at. I think it's common to change the online status to 'invisible' in pvp, some do it to avoid getting whispers from trolls and some do it to troll. I've also seen this happen when people are complimenting my characters look. I can't reply because it says they are offline. Why would they block me after complimenting me? Nah, I think they were set to 'invisible' and maybe forgot about it or they just didn't want to be social but still wanted to compliment. Anyway, players shouldn't be able to contact those who they blocked nor should they be able to whisper others while set to 'invisible'.
