  1. i feel like there was alot of questionable advice in this threads that told you to do exactly what you didn't want to do, after you asked not to be forced to do it, and that's not a way to help players. what you were probably looking for from the start is celestial gear, which allows you to both damage and heal in all content except raids (and in raids if you're the tank, not the off-healer). you probably want to run something like full celestial gear, with a few harrier's trinkets to max boon duration, along with leadership rune, sigil of concentration and transference, rice ball and bountiful maintenance oil. the specifics will vary depending on your class and traits which can affect stuff like boon duration. you can get the trinkets from laurel merchants, the armor from verdant brink (bladed armor) and the weapons off the trading post (for example iron legion staff and rifle), for almost no gold investment. you can run a second set with primarily harrier's for when you eventually start doing raids and don't want to be the tank. its nice that players are trying to help you to play the game "properly", but there's no point in playing if you don't feel comfortable doing it. forcing yourself through it will only make you resent the game in the long term and likely quit before you ever reach the true end-game. you can worry about being a hardcore min/max'er down the road when you're already a veteran of the game and not when you're just starting out!
  2. i think it was 10,000 gold to return all the features, and up to 30,000 gold if you want to max all decorations. i feel its kind of worth it now that pvp is implemented in the entire guild hall and you can make your own battlegrounds, but it wasn't back then for sure since they had basically no use. well, let's also consider that if players didn't make roller beetle tracks, arenanet would've probably forgot that guild halls even exist.
  3. its important to understand that in this game, the difficulty curve ranges from something like 1-100 instead of 1-10 like in other games. the game may seem easy to hardcore veterans, but casual players can't even begin to touch instanced end-game content, then you have everyone in the middle who can do both casual or hardcore but isn't going to full clear all wings every week because they'd have to raid every day to do that. i think what you're looking for is something more like "story mode", or "dungeon mode", which currently don't exist in raids (though maybe should). this was something they rectified for strike missions but never went back and updated raids for it.
  4. libcef.dll is the chromium embedded framework (google chrome). it seems that chromium can't run on your system for some reason. most likely, you assumed that the crashes were a result of needing a reinstallation of the operating system, when in reality your system could be unstable at a hardware level and any attempt to stress it causes problems. its also possible the file is corrupted, even after reinstalling, which could indicate a persistent disk or network problem.
  5. if you're trying to go through paypal "for safety" then its likely not needed as the company arenanet uses is already a subsidary of paypal, i believe. though, that also makes it especially strange that you're having so much trouble with it!
  6. i think the popup isn't because you have enough mastery points available, but because the experience has nowhere to go. you can select another mastery track to supress it, and you can simply enter the guild halls to unlock the heart of thorns and path of fire mastery tracks as well without spoilers. if you're saving your mastery points due to concerns of not having enough, there's more than enough to get everything and have plenty left over. for example i have all the mastery tracks fully trained and currently have 32 points left over in central tyria, 39 in heart of thorns and 10 in path of fire! you just need to make sure you get all the open-world insights (listed on the wiki) then focus on acheivements that also give mastery points--for central tyria, most of them come from living world season 2., but you can also get a bunch from the first tier of fractals relatively easily within a day or two.
  7. i've always found this problem confusing, as players often state when they have enough mastery points to level up a track, and the track's experience bar is full, they will get a popup. however, i have never received this popup and neither has anyone i know. could you take a screenshot of the situation with all the relevant windows up so i can understand what's going on better?
  8. i think it was even more rediculous that they removed red crystals altogether, when those would've been perfect for secrets of the obscure. i feel like they could've simply doubled the price of mystic coins and clovers for green shards, and quadrupled them for blue shards, and that would've worked better.
  9. that's why i said its important to join a guild in this game, so they can teach you how to play, especially since later story missions are on the same difficulty level as tower of nightmares, especially during heart of thorns and some parts of path of fire. i feel like only the level 1-80 personal story is easily soloable by someone who doesn't understand the game. i once saw a thread of someone who had wiped nearly a hundred times on the molten alliance minibosses in the first chapter of living world season 1, and after some advice given here they went back and cleared it in a single attempt; and that's what guilds are good for, because we can't rely on everyone using the forums or reddit. we have to remember the skill gap in this game is massive and the only way to bridge that gap is to pass our knowledge down.
  10. i guess if by "non-issue" you mean it made all the end of dragons rewards trivial by them being easily farmable from the ibs ez 3 instead, then yes. it was just kind of a bad decision all around on the developer's part, i think.
  11. i've done this many times and you can duo everything up until the last boss ,which needs three players for comfort and one of them ideally a healer. this is a guild-based game and anyone who can't find that many allies should definitely be joining a guild. arenanet already provided you a way to solo it for those who don't like social interactions.
  12. for fractals you can run giver's, harrier's or minstrel's and it won't really matter, as your damage is insignificant anyway. usually a mix of giver's and minstrel's is used to maximise boon duration, which is significantly easier to hit 100% than other game modes due to the mobility potion. if you're a new player then please don't go into high-tier fractals on full harrier's as you'll likely die and the group will wipe. to put it simply, the healer can't go down, ever, for any reason. experienced healers take celestial gear ,which provides less healing and an actual amount of damage (for example, celebrand). this is also particularly popular on barrier classes such as machinist, scourge, or spectre, all of which play "condi alacheal" builds. most of the information you find on the internet will often confuse fractals and strikes with raids, which have tanks. in raids you can't take anything but harrier's gear, with maybe some plaguedoctor pieces mixed in for the vitality to avoid overcapping boon duration. this is because toughness is the tanking stat and if you're wearing any celestial, giver's, or minstrel's gear then you will likely become the tank instead of being the off-healer, which isn't a role that is friendly to newbies. you can stat-swap the amulet, backpack and rings if you use blood ruby trinkets from bloodstone fen, just make sure you infuse or attune one ring to have a different amount of slots so you can equip both at the same time. i believe you can also get two mist accessories from the fractal vendor to fill the other slots, which can also be reset forever, though they're very expensive and require you to have played for some time already. also, make sure you never stat-swap any legendary precursor in the mystic forge (e.g pvp/wvw ascended armor), as it will be destroyed.
  13. well if you take a look, then not including the fractal rewards themselves (which are already extremely generous): - you get 10,000 karma - you get 90 fractal relics and 30 pristine fractal relics - you get three anguished tear of alba, making it easier to get into higher tiers - you get three large mist offensive potion, which are the most expensive to buy and can only be had "for free" by doing tier 3 recommended fractals - you get a non-unique trinket with good damage stats for a new player and a +10 agony infusion equipped - you can get enough pristine fractal relics during the event to buy the permanent lion's arch portal scroll if doing tier 3 or higher. this may not seem like alot to veteran players, although it kind of is since fractals are already the most rewarding task you can do, but it gives newer players who do the rush a huge boost in fractals and by the end of it they can buy several ascended trinkets in addition to the one they get for free. for example it normally takes over a week to get the 30 pristine fractal relics from just the tier 1 dailies alone, so this effectively reduces the time to get their initial trinkets by around 66%. it also gives you access to the only portal scroll for accounts before living world season 3, and the only lion's arch portal scroll in the game. have we fallen so far that we can only think of how things benefit veteran players, and not how they impact newer players..? it seems the player uptake both for the game itself and for instanced content (especially stuff like fractals, raids and strikes) has been on the rise the last few years!
  14. the three major problems with support necromancer are: no good support weapon (staff works, but only barely), very low stability and no swiftness application. also, i think having a proper support weapon would help quick heal harbinger alot, which is the only support build left in the game that isn't viable.
  15. i think you should always ask for half payment up front, that way if you get scammed, you both get scammed.
