  1. As someone who quitted the game because of "balance patch updates" after End of Dragon exp and little meaningful story content afterwards, progression and more interactive elements, this announcement reignited interest to come back -and quite frankly timing couldn't be better cause very little exciting news has been for a while now, especially when I know sort of have bigger picture what was all those Profession changed, reharled and tweaked for. Say what you will but this part here: (I know we are all different and yada yada, some will forever be happy from profession patch to patch having something to gloat about, others are content for other reasons, and some finally got long awaited, multiple times delayed WvW changes, that seemed like they will never seen light at the end of the tunnel, but so goes for others, like me - > simply excited that something new is happening and it's not yet another Living episode Season) https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/combat-in-guild-wars-2-secrets-of-the-obscure/ Is worth coming back alone. And yes I play as Mesmer and Necro, but I wasn't burn out of game just because of profession changes, simply for lack of any other progress, cause whole focus has been on them for quite while now. D4 is consuming all my free time I can spare, so I don't know if I will jump right away, but I do know I will jump at some moment never the less, especially cause we are done with one plot that dragged way too long to be interesting anymore. But you know the best part? This exp pac is finally focused on the elements in the game, rather than throwing yet another "exciting new systems and professions" and I am so glad they recognized value in revisiting old finally.
  2. This game so desperately needs refitment of old and not new. We got new stuff and it's meh in comparison what could the old unfinished and unpolished stuff be I am for one glad they actually are focusing on strong points of the game, rather than abundance of half thought out new ideas, finally. And by doing so, we actually get cool new stuff and content to play around. I am all for new systems (like fishing) but I am also for returning to unfinished that gave glimpses of what we could really have. And quite frankly, for the first time in last 4 years, I am actually excited about upcoming updates. But everyone to their own, eh. - just look what the constant of stream of new, brought WoW down too. Even game like FFXIV realized it needs to slow down and re focus on old content
  3. Depends on the profession you play and gear you have .....There is influx of new players so it was right decision to keep it pre-Poe/EoD difficulty Besides this is more of a long time fun service, that was in backlog for too long, so enjoy kitten story instead of complaining about difficulty. I think EoD gives you more than enough slack of that (too much for a lot of people - I am not big fun of some of metas that atrociously difficult, on the difficulty of raids)
  4. I started with Mesmer and at the time I was into pvp mainly, so normally I couldn't resist jumping into sPvP as soon as I got comfortable with class mechanics (or so I thought) - just skip over Mesmer as a starter for PVP. Yes they can be evasive annoying lot, that hits like a trunk but squishier than a vase and very quirky. The problem isn't the class itself as much as you won't know what hit you and how to counter it, until you get familiar with the way other classes play out and Mesmer is the worst class to pick up to try pvp, without prior knowledge (Ele is perhaps the only one that's worst) p.s Also Mesmer has a quite infamous reputation, so chances are you will be all the time focus of someone or a group of people -> which makes up for very unpleasant experience if you only started.
  5. So the point of this thread is that everyone hates someone (or couple) in the main plot of the game and that we should make developers and writers job easier by requesting to remove them all from plot line and create new crew to pick the hate from where it left off
  6. Necro has mobility as a cripple compared to many other professions, I am trying to understand exact problem here? @ollbirtan.2915 I can't tell whatever you are sarcastic or try to be, in your replies
  7. They announced expansion ...... few more episodes of final chapters to be released by May or so. Servers are literally ranging from medium to full with population (in fact I am in one where there no place left for new players) Does that sound to you like game won't be around? Just a thought. Edit: Also, it puzzles me. Give how you are returning player and I assume you own expansions. most of LS, why exactly don't you jump in and check for yourself will the game sink or not? As an example , for me big stopper of going back to WoW (last expansion) is that I didn't want to throw away money, which is moderate amount for entertainment and face disappointment ( I already done that once with Legion and regretted every single moment, it was cool and good expansion but I just didn't feel like playing it for some reason) - but you don't have this risk with GW2 (no sub, no additional costs unless you want to unlock LS you missed or buy cosmetic/convenient items from market)
  8. of course they are. we'r in the age of absolutly minimum effort on ANet's part I wouldn't say Minimum effort, remember they are trying to finish up a living story while working on an expansion. So are you implying "minimum effort" could have been getting nothing from here to new expansion? Because nothing is the only worse thing than these pseudo-episodes. Why are you still playing? I think it's rather ignorant to give statements like this, without directly having had a bitter taste of being sucked in position like this. You literally nothing have to do to keep this game in library (expect optional purchase you may make from time to time, likely not) and login in from time to time to get the latest LS chapter, I mean I would understand this attitude if this game has model like ESO and I personally would find in unacceptable but you are literally awarded with whatever content (at least it's some content) by just playing. The most complaints come from people who invested not time, but their life in this game, over couple thousand hours, so perhaps a little stop to catch a breath won't hurt It's a good thing they did invest that time! The more time you spend, the more value you see in putting money into the endeavor. That's what the game ultimately needs to survive. Free content is a double-edged sword. It is free, so what do you have to complain about? But that won't pay the bills when players shift from putting in thousands of hours to maybe showing up 3 or 4 times a year to play some patch content. If you're a 2k+ hours kind of player, what are the chances you don't just seek the next big thing at that point? Edit: Also wanted to note I have pre-ordered Amazon's MMO. I don't like the look of it, but you know what? GW2 is getting boring and the direction of this game is going down the tubes. I await EoD with every hope that it will revive this game for me and there is no question I will purchase it, but this current method of content delivery will kill the game for me if it continues and I am definitely keeping an eye out for that next big thing. Yeah, it's free content. It's also not holding my interest at all.Don't get me wrong (though I admit it did sound that way), I am not preaching about " f2p you must like" on the contrary. I am saying that content might not be as bad as you believe you might believe because you played game for years without break, or close to that. I got burnt out of GW2 and had to take a break, but now when I am back I am liking even more than first time. It's just the fact that you need sometime to take time off to refresh and experience something different. It's okay to take a break from something you invested time and effort in. However, I am not jumping on the wagon of let me pre-order/ buy another hyped supposed to be game of the decade title (Cyberpunk, unrelated genre but same thing, massive failure - despite what die hards believe (dropping from 700-800k at average to barely 25-40k players is failure). Actually I don't like Amazon new MMO because it's a lot of promises and rigged trailer content, until I see the gameplay and the real deal itself. On other hand I am hoping that this new expansion breath in more life and innovate the game further, the thing is, at this point it will just be much more appealing to new players and returning ones who haven't turn every stone.
  9. And frankly I welcome this, because it was needed. But I also understand the frustration, of those that relied heavily on it.

  11. k The reality was a bit different but whatever, I wonder why do you think sarcastic response is good... hmmm Seriously though, Mesmer always had to do 3 things to achieve something whereas about almost any profession could do it with one or one and half (exception is Elementalist/Revenant?- well the last time I bothered to play PVP that is, a lot of changes since then), but again, mad crowd is always in the right wing. p.s And yes I know that it could be frustrating - but it was counter-able even though it required actually some skill to do it, (people forget that Mesmers fight... well other Mesmers as well and it is duel of reflexes- I have had my share of rant moments)But that's it, just that one and now when taken away, good luck pulling anything with Mesmer now, unless you are really good (and in constant disadvantage against pretty much anything) If nothing else comes to mind, one thing was always painfully out there, Mesmers (expect those really skilled ones with custom builds, tailored to their unique approach) had very predicable pattern.
  12. I have Mesmer 80 lvl ( actually the 1st character and what sold me to invest hours in this game) and don't see myself playing with it anytime soon. The mirage profression was so collectively hated by pvp community that at some point nerf was bound to happen. And whenever I read "broken PvP" I roll my eyes over. PvP everywhere, which includes multitude of classes, itemization and etc is broken for every individual according to their own list of views (there isn't a single game out there with PVP that isn't broken or has broken things, you either accept or not- it comes down to single fact ... human element) I can give a list of things that are annoying to deal with, for each and every profession... but hey, life is healthier if you just stick to PVE and don't have nerves to wreck in PVP
  13. They never pushed in a first place "we have the best community", it's the players themselves that are spreading this line among other communities. And it's a bit different "online" community based on my personal experience given the sheer variety of people playing this game - for different reasons. Is it devoid of "lfmao-me merciless legend you nab" people, nope. It's the nature of every game having pvp and then some people have epic attitude of classic gamer type that pride themselves of knowing game inside out, which can be suffocating. At the end it comes down to where you wind up, I found a guild for instance, where people are very friendly and laidback. You definitely have those who are more secluded or quiet but overall, all of them are nice and chill - something to find in other games almost impossible, unless it's pre-made guild of friends and such.
