The irony lies in the fact that by dumbing down the game ANet shoo'ed away most skillful gw1 vets and attracted a bunch of people who should be playing with playdoh instead.Hence in gw1 no one cried about mes, except when Visions of Regret was op, and in gw2 people cry about mes since the game released. I don't know if Gw1 had a forums. Never visited it. I was so innocent back then but Mesmer was a problem in pvp. Hence why everyone pinged Mesmer as the must kill target. Visions of Regret was op but it wasn't the only thing. I had a random build back then with VOR, Backfire and I can't remember the other skills right now. I'd have to log into Gw1 and see if I can remember but basically it was a bunch of hexes on a target. I put them on a monk and he one shot himself because of VOR, Backfire and the other skills. I don't know if you recall the energy drain build? You drained a target's energy until it got to 0 and then killed them because they didn't have energy and weren't activating any skills. The angry pms and shouts I got in map chat. Even in hero battles on my Mesmer I fought a guy and he said "Good fight but you're an kitten" because he couldn't do anything. I personally don't like Mesmer in Gw2. Would have loved if they brought over Mesmer from Gw1 into Gw2.GW had forums, not official ones, but most people gathered at GW guru.Targets were based by order of importance not by opness, monks were the first target, mesmers were targeted if too much pressure was put on monks, since mesmer arsenal was mainly anticaster.That build with VoR, backfire and probably wastrel's worry couldnt kill a good Monk, alone that is, and VoR was later nerfed so the damage wasn't stacked too high with backfire empathy and the likes. Point is if mesmer in gw2 was gw1 type of mesmer these guys had ragequit long time ago. Echo+blackout for example meant perma-dazed. But you don't even need to get that far since mes was an interrupt machine, you would only cast whatever mesmer allowed, akin to counter spell blue deck in MtG.And this is something these play-doh guys don't understand.

I am talking about the over reliance to do damages and gain sustain through clones (especially for staff chaos playstyle),which in turn makes it unfun to play against mirage due to general visual clutter.Thats what you think. Why I have to explain why stupid idea is stupid ... :(Making no clones = less/no shatters which interferes with "Anet" grand vision that mesmers must use shatters and have active playstyle.To not rely on clones they could buff personal ambush and make clone ambush condis lasts 0.0001s and its done, identify real mesmer, dodge his ambush.Personally I can not understand how you can come to the conclusion that the old staff phantasm was better than what we have now.Old phantasm if hit did tons of damage (casually throwing 8k crits on power), make projectile actually track your target and it would be strong as hell but its pointless to discuss as they will never revert Maybe but with IP we still can use shatters without having no clones. We still can summon clones without relying on the ability to get clones out off phantasm : we have got utility skills that summon clones, we have got sword ambushes and sword 3, we still have staff 2 as well the deceptive evasion trait in dueling that, let's be real here, everybody uses. The reason deceptive evasion is so used its because it is the only reliable way of producing clones. When illusionary reversion was good no one cared about deceptive evasion, if self deception and deception skills were good no one would care about deceptive evasion. Just revert the phantasms to the old shatterable ones (won't happen but w/e). Why are you talking about illusionary reversion for chrono ? I am purely talking about mirage trade off here. Getting to the point why deceptive evasion is mandatory.In case of mirage because self deception and deception skills are garbage.

This isn't a balancing mirage thread, this is a how to nerf mirage even further.1 - sure, give back 1sec MC, superspeed and all vigor back.2 - meh, better to have 2 condi cleanse.3 - staff ambush is one of the few good ambushes on game, plus it has a gigantic cast time and slow movement, pretty balanced if you ask me.4 - immob was fine, plenty of counterpart (stab, fake casting, rupt MoD, cleanse). As for someone's idea of getting ICD on IH, sure let's nerf the only good trait in an entire traitline and the only form of sustain damage of mirage.

That's not so linear as to take off something to give something.Take thieves for example, they lost range on steal and got unblockable on steal and 3 better dodges instead.Let's face it ANet deleted IP for the sake of deleting IP. Losing distortion is already more than sufficient as a trade-off considering chrono has weak survival (pvp pov).
  7. If these people played gw1 I would roll echo+blackout just to troll them.GW1 mes was way more powerful than gw2 and no one cried.They have no idea what mes is suppose to be and are stripping away the only things that made mes a mesmer.

  9. A worse dodge and an useless traitline apart from IH is a huge tradeoff already.What I would like to be: a better dodge (1sec MC+superspeed) and a reworked traitline with IH as a minor.
