  1. I think you're mixing the two. Vertical progression is about character power. Horizontal is pretty much everything else - opening up options, getting more utility/QoL, ect. For example: Acquiring gear which gives you 10 more strength is vertical. Earning gear which unlocks another appearance or allows you to teleport to a capital city would be horizontal.
  2. Some of the stuff in this thread is just the player's own grievances rather than genuine reasons. Anyways, I agree with Aodlop's post here...GW2 does a lot of things differently compared to many MMOs. Some of it good, some of it bad, much of it subjective. But I think it deviates a lot from what many MMO players want. Most notably vertical progression. Which is unfortunate, because I've always hated the whole gear treadmill thing....particularly in PvP.
  3. Only spec I'm particularly into is the revenant one. The warrior one looked promising, but I'm not really into how it plays (though it does have some cool ideas).
  4. Not really. But ngl, not being able to race change has turned me off from playing sylvari.
  5. Can't say this feature looks particularly interesting to me. If there's some sort of fish breeding/combat/racing system as well like in Dark Cloud 2, I could see myself going out of my way to do it. Other than that it's one of those "have nothing to do" things.
  6. Seems to basically be a dislike button most of the time, from what I gather.
  7. It's absolutely wild that this thread has gone on for 17 pages.
  8. I don't care either since I have no interest in dueling but I have to agree. I can't blame people who are tired of seeing this brought up. But some of the reasons are ridiculous. One guy in this thread was even threatening to quit if this was ever added. Talk about dramatic.
  9. No kidding. The OP is trying to act like he's all high-brow about this. I can't help but roll my eyes. Like bruh, you're a a video game forum trying to talk about what kind of pixels your character shows. It really isn't that deep.
  10. Well, it's class design is quite unique. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a turnoff for a lot of people.
  11. If anything, GW2's leveling is faster than most MMOs. Levels go by fast enough as is and to boot, it almost feels like exp is normalized far more than most games. I don't think this is an issue. Especially when you include tomes of knowledge(which a new player will earn at least a couple of. More if they PvP or take longer to level (daily logins) ) and other level boosts.
  12. I don't play this game enough to justify the few character slots I've bought.
  13. I'd say the issue is less orienting yourself/keeping aware and more the actual movement. All that time moving up and down the environment can really add up. Especially if you're moving slower (at least, relative to environment size), which is common in video games. On a related note, underwater environments tend to funnel players into areas more while having more open space.
  14. GW2 underwater combat is better than WoW's, but it's still terrible compared to land. As cool as exploring underwater zones is, it's a concept best retired. from MMOs.
