  1. I think it would be a really nice change to keep it's function in pvp and remove most of the variability in pve (which I guess is a wanted change although it makes it a bit less interesting). The problem with both confusion and torment in pvp is that this game is just to spammy on both ends (both applications and cleansing of condies). Sure there are scenarios where you will actually stall using abilities in pvp because you have a bunch of stacks of confusion. But in many cases it's just another condi that you will cleanse with all the others when there's just too much of them. I like playing around different dots and debuffs in a game like wow which is slower and more methodical and only certain type of cleanses work against certain condies and you might need to take the lesser evil with dots like Unstable Affliction where you need to decide do I eat all the dots' dmg or I cleanse it and suffer the UE dmg and silence. In gw2 in many cases you just cleanse when there is a critical amount of condies on you.
  2. I liked in wow that you could ask npc guards for directions. Nothing gamebreaking but a nice touch.
  3. Like I said, if this was any other game, I wouldn't really bring out player's feelings. I'm a pvp player at hearth, being told to throw myself of the cliff because I missed one shot in completely irrelevant public match is a normal day. My feelings don't get hurt. But we're talking gw2 here. But yeah I could see how easier access to micro transactions can outweigh feelings even in this game.
  4. I can get behind that trail of thought. Don't see why I would support it though.
  5. Since when is hurting someone's feelings a bad reason. It's actually a strange comment in one of the most player friendly, considerate mmorpg I've ever played. And not even close to others. Just mention ow pvp or even something as standard as duelling and half of the player base goes through the roof just because they don't want to even see it. I mean if this was LOL or any other game I might agree. But we're talking gw2 here. Player's feelings are top priority in this game.
  6. I never played FFXIV so I can't comment. You can be inspired without copying. I don't really do fashion but I understand why people don't want their work being copied.
  7. In wow you can also inspect other player's gear. And that's actually a system that is useful and has gameplay impact because in group content you're actually dependant on other players. I would like that option. But I understand that some players don't want to share that and I'm fine with that. And I also understand some people don't want to share their fashion because their personal reasons. And since we seem to care about other players in this game I don't really see much difference between the two because in the end it's very much subjective.
  8. If you feel that way, you kinda confirm his point. If he doesn't want to share, why be forced to? It would still be a useful system for players that want to share.
  9. I'm pretty sure he means everyone would have the option to opt in/out. The same for everyone.
  10. I once wrote that I don't care if players inspect my build and stats as long as they can't inspect my fashion. It turned out as a joke, I was actually serious. They can always ask.
  11. I'm not going for ow armour so dont really know which mats are needed and Im only speculating. But I would guess mithril and silk because those spiked, especially mithrill. And wood dropped. Dont know why t5 leather is low though. Im glad because I just made Nevermore. In the end it doesnt really matter. Some went up, some down. If you plan to go for some t2 leggies that require a crazy amount of predominantly wood, its a good time to do it.
  12. You seem to have lots of inside information on Anet. Could you share some info on gw2's next expansion?
  13. In open world ascended gear drops are extremely rare and not a viable way to gear. As you move to instanced pve like fractals, raids and strikes or even wvw those drops get more frequent but are still not a completely reliable way. But all these modes with addition of also spvp also have a way to buy ascended gear with mode specific currencies. If youre open world players wizard vault and/or crafting is probably the way. Even with wizard vault you will probably want to change stats on some gear so youll likely need crafting for that. Crafting is just needed for high end stuff in the end. For accesories look at living world vendors. Easy with some currency grind.
  14. Oh I play plenty pvp games. Gw2 is not my primary pvp game and no mmo can compare to dedicated competitive games. The systems are good for mmorpg. Gw2 is spamy sure but its quite precise which is my mayor comlaint in many mmorpgs. Why I like pvp in mmorpg is because pvp utilises the whole build, everything at your disposal. When I compare combat systems in mmorpgs I think pvp. Pve is mostly on tracks and builds are often specialised and mostly utilise only a part of the arsenal, follow rotations. So pvp in mmorpgs for me is fun and to test and play with builds and characters.
  15. Sure, projects take it's course and not all of them get to the end and many don't stay within the initial budget or scope. That's common for all industries, maybe some more volatile, some less. But that doesn't mean that gw2's revenue has much of an impact on future projects beyond just a general NCSoft financial outlook. I have no idea what is the current NCSoft's financial situation and how they fund their projects but in the past they were able to release quite a few mmorpgs (not saying there were many good, but I wouldnt call them cheap) so I guess they have some clue how to close it. Also do you actually know why they invested 130mil? It sounds like a good amount for a new project or an additional studio, teams. Running deficit is not what you would really want and sure you don't want existing products to tank more but that doesn't really mean much for how you run your projects beyond that they are probably running tighter shift and need to find more external funding. And if they sink, well they sink, it happens and doesn't necessarily mean it's the end for Anet and Gw.
