  1. I use the logitech G602, and hopefully will be upgrading to the G604 which is the same mouse with a tech upgrade. I have my whole skill bar on the thumb buttons, or shift+ a thumb button, the the extra two index buttons I have bound to the F button skills ( attunements engineer belt skills etc. ) mouse wheel click i have set to wep swap, I enjoy the G602, it's really hard to find a comfy mouse with lots of buttons
  2. Yeah the engine is desperate for a refresh, it has been since HoT was released. To be honest some areas of GW1 looked prettier and more "photorealistic" Honestly I think they could do a "Core" expansion and refresh the old maps, add a hard mode for story instances, and freshen up the core areas, models, armors and such The new areas look great but I go from 50-60 FPS in core tyria to 15 or less in areas like Thunderhead Keep or other new areas. I get not wanting to limit players by upgrading to a higher DX version or switching to OpenGL or Vulkan but I doubt any machines running windows XP are keeping up with the game anyways. I agree that GW2 is one of the best MMO's on the market both visually and gameplay wise. However it feels like the game developers have lost the passion and and been falling down the gemstore rabbit hole. But I'm falling into a plethora of other discussions TLDR: The game is pretty but could still be better, We need a new engine with the aforementioned Optimization
  3. I think the goal is to ensure that any particular map is fairly full on some days (by stealing population from other maps) rather than an across-the-board boost. It would, e.g., help with completing semi-dead content that blocks progress on achievements or whatever. Technically, the event dailies serve this purpose, but not quite as well, since people will leave after their obligatory 4. This is exactly what I'm meaning. I talked to a few people in Jahai Bluffs who had been stuck on progress in collections/achievements for over a week because nobody was doing the required events (one was looking for the Djinn quest chain for requiem armor the other the hydra chain) I noticed while helping my sister work on the skyscale that many LS4 maps get the meta events done but nobody sticks around for the peripheral events that are often needed for collections/achievements/whatnot Trying to work on LS3 things for the legendary trinkets is absurd because those maps actually are dead. And while it may have been a bit of hyperbole to suggest the HoT maps could use the same boost in population I still have guildmates and friends who have gotten stuck on certain group events or whatnot for a week or longer. There are also many other posts lamenting the low population in core areas, which may not affect more veteran players (who can easily solo core champions) but hurts newer players. And yes there are places like the silverwastes that are never empty and have zero need for a population boost that I still think would be fair to include in the rotations. You pointed out what I feel, some maps would greatly benefit from the redistribution of players as there aren't enough total people to fill all the maps well enough. In the end I think this method would be easier to implement and better long term than changing all the events.
  4. HoT maps are nowhere near as dead as LS3, but I saw no reason to exclude them from the idea due to the fact that they are require large amounts of players to complete the meta events. Just because my experience is different from yours doesn't mean I'm not credible, plus merely attacking my integrity doesn't add to the conversation or provide new insight.
  5. I guess maybe I wasn't clear in my suggestion, the idea wasn't to add "extra" daily or monthly style rewards but to add a buff to everyone in a specific map on a rotating basis. So for example Monday might be Jahai Bluffs day and and everyone in the map gains bonus XP, Mistonium and MF while playing in that map, Tues would be Dragons Stand day granting extra XP, MF, bonus Machete's and Crystalline Ore. It wouldn't be an achievement that could be ground out quick but a persistent buff like Volunteer's Blessing that applies while you are in that days maps. Edit To be clear I liked and support the idea of monthlies that is just a different discussion
  6. So myself and many others have noticed that many older maps such as HoT, LS3, and to some extent early LS4 maps, not to mention all the core maps are often empty and completing required group content can be very challenging. My idea is to create a rotating "auto" mechanic that assigns a bonus to a specific map or maps for a day that say doubles MF, increases karma/map currency drops and maybe provides bonus XP. The idea is that the bonus would be big enough to draw people to those maps but not so big as to be game breaking. Plus if the rotation was set on a schedule you could look ahead to when the map you need might be full. WHat do you guys think? Or is the consensus that the maps aren't dead and there are enough people since the Megaserver update?
  7. I really liked the idea of bringing the WvW/PvP style reward tracks to PvE I think it sounds cool to add a reward track mastery, and unlocks for better and more rewarding tracks. Make the tracks kill/XP based with bonuses for big events/bosses or for being in the area the track is for. That way at least after a few hours or so you get something decently rewarding. Another idea could be to nix blue/green/white drops once you hit lvl 80 (and maybe unlock a mastery) and only drop stackable salvage items so instead of getting a blue spear you get a "blue" grade salvage item. I know the unidentified gear sort of accomplishes this but you lose a lot by not opening them, and opening stacks of unids takes a lot of time and bag space. I think they were a step in the right direction but I would rather just get "pile of salvageable gear" that provides the same salvage outcome with less steps and annoyance.
  8. Well as a couple of follow ups I use discipline not arms and swap that to tactics for fractals or dungeons. I've been playing with zerker for a bit in PvE and it gets a lot more burst dmg than SB but is a lot squishier. SB definitely has a more fluid playstyle. Zerker can really out DPS though if you rotate well and keep your buffs up between bursts. I'll keep playing around with both but I think zerker needs a hair more streamlining to make it more fluid.
  9. I've played GW2 on my 2013 Macbook Pro since I got the machine, so I can say from firsthand experience no. If you want gaming don't get a Mac, you will be disappointed. That said a Macbook Pro is capable of running the game, especially if you bootcamp Windows and run GW2 that way. The OSX version is plagued with performance issues due to the WINE wrapper (mostly being stuck in 32 bit mode) so you lose game quality and performance just for being in OSX vs a windows machine with the same hardware. Now a newer MBPro will run better than mine (mine is the I7 2.3 ghz, 16 gig RAM, Nvidia 750M 2G, 512 GB SSD) but unless you go into Windows via bootcamp a lot of your hardware benefits are lost anyways.Idk what other people define as "works well" but to me a baseline is running at 30+ FPS stable at 1080P with medium settings and my Mac doesn't always hit that even in Windows.
  10. So I'm not wanting to worry too much about WvW or PvP because the skills and traits can be different. But for general PvE. When HoT came out I immediately spec'd berserker and even though power builds weren't ideal the spec was fun. I really liked how berserker added lots of CC to help with the HoT breakbars and the berserk mode added a nice dps boost to burn bosses or big groups quick. Come HoT berserker was certainly viable but spellbreaker added some much needed defense to berserker geared players the full counter kept some CC and boon strips helped in certain situations. I preferred the flavor of zerker but SB was so much stronger especially in fractals. Long story short I pretty much only used SB for everything since PoF release. I came back after a hiatus and saw berserker got massively overhauled. In theory zerker has a lot more burst dmg at the cost of being a bit more squishy but removing the F1 skill from non zerk mode feels suuuuper clunky. So how do you guys play the "new" zerker? Or should I just stick with SB for open world due to the extra survivability and the fact that "perfect" dps isn't needed? Gear wise I stick with GS (I love the flavor and feel) and A/A or LB usually but I have every wep set for war available, full zerk gear and str runes (I prefer them over scholar I know) I usually run Arms, (3, 2, 1) Disc (2, 3, 1 if axes or 3 for all others) and either elite spec in the 3rd slot (SB 1, 1, 3)Am I just overthinking this or is berserker just not ideal for open world right now? Or am I just playing it wrong because I feel like a sitting duck between rage modes, whereas sb has lower spike damage but I feel like I can spam bursts a LOT more due to the adrenal refund. I prefer the flavor of zerker and I miss the heavy CC from headbutt and wild blow but I feel like SB has better sustain and survivability when solo or roaming open world I feel like the best solution would be to reduce the CD on zerk mode to be in line with other bursts since out of zerk almost all your traits from that line don't apply and you are locked out from the burst skills now, honestly the loss of the F1 out of zerk feels like the hardest part to deal with
  11. Yeah Sorry if that felt aggressive, I wasn't trying to call you out in any way. I suppose as a mostly casual player I blow away all of your original requirements, but have nowhere near the resources or gold to purchase your suggested high tier rewards. So perhaps my view of the difficulty to meet those requirements is skewed, since in my mind I easily meet them. At any rate wasn't meant as a dig at you, more so, that I don't see Anet releasing the majority of the rewards you suggested from a vendor in this way. Did you feel that my suggestions were a valid compromise?
  12. I actually like the concept, and believe me I don't approve of yet another random currency lightly. To be honest the best criticism I see is that the requirements may be a bit restrictive and the rewards, well too rewarding. I agree something that costs over 1000 gold on the TP and usually comes from BL chests shouldn't be obtainable from doing 1000 events or hearts. Perhaps conceding to something along the lines ofRequirements:Not FTP account2K + AP (Proves that the player is somewhat experienced and easy enough to obtain with effort)Complete a veteran vendor quest/collection/story to unlock the vendorcompletion of Core, HoT and PoF story unlocks tabs from those storylines with related rewardsKeep the coins earned section the same, but allow any other currency or key or whatever to be traded for Veteran coinRewards should include any or all ofCrafting MatsLimited Use Gathering Tools (including special ones)Salvage kits (maybe add a rune salvage kit that destroys item but saves the rune?)Ascended Materials (Limit per day)Mystic Coins (Limit per day)Mystic Clovers (limit per day)Obsidian ShardsLoot bags of various quality with ascended loot bags that have rare chance of unique rewards ie: 90% of suggested rewards on original postCampaign unique rewards or currencies (with a net loss included for the convenience of exchange)Consumable ItemsUnique Item/Food recipiesUnique Armor / Weapon SetsUnique Mount SkinsUnique Booster ie Karma on Kill, bonus magic find that stacks applied on purchaseAnd maybe make the coins themselves sellable for gold to a vendor or even tradable on the TPMaybe include 1000 coins for one BL key once a week?Honestly it looked like OP had a good idea but wanted to use it as a way to get ultra rare or ultra expensive rewards without the work or effort or real cash needed to obtain them, while I can empathize with the feeling I don't think it's reasonable for the life of the game. Now here's where it could be fun give unique coin multipliers or bonus coins based on certain criteria such asParty member's first time completing contentPartied with a sub 80 character who is close to the required level for the contentPartied with a not FTP party member who does not have the veteran vendor unlockedJoined a party that had previously full party wiped in content ie. fractal, dungeon, raidNon FTP party member's account is under 1 year oldParty member or self gains achievement for the first time from contentRepeating content for the first time on another character*FTP account limits would be set to prevent abuse of the system with free accounts I think it would be a nice buff to the rewards "veteran" players gain and provide reward versatility, it helps follow the play what you want model. And if introduced correctly could be a fun side quest to unlock the vendor, maybe put them in your home instance and lock them for non qualified visitors?
  13. So I'm sure some of what I think has been said before, and some of them may not be considered QoL but I think so1: Build Template saving and linking I have no idea why this was removed from GW1, sometimes I forget to change builds when changing gametypes2: This idea is based off the new Rune Sigil update, add a character based rune tab, consuming up to 6 of a rune unlocks it for that character and lets you swap between unlocked runes on that character, ie, if I consume 6 runes of strength I can select the full set but if I only have consumed 2 runes of the berserker then I can only select up to the 2nd ability bonus for those runes but I could use 4 of my strength runes. I considered saying account based and to me that's ideal, but I think making it character based protects the rune economy a bit but allows players to test new builds and ideas without costing 20 gold just to try something and swap back if you on't like it. I think this would promote players testing out new things and increasing build variety.3: On the note of build variety I had 2 ideas to add more variety without requiring a ton of work (other than balancing)3A: Bring back secondary classes, allow players to choose one specialization (Not elite specialization) from a different class unlocking the second classes core utility and healing skills. Traits that would not benefit a different class could be given a secondary form (like how pve and pvp traits differ sometimes) this would unlock a whole realm of new builds for each class without having to create new specializations, mechanics weapons or classes3B: Give each weapon 3 different skill sets to choose from, an offensive set a defensive set and a utility set allow players to pick and choose weapon skills from the sets to build a "weapon bar" referring back to 3A possibly allow players to chose select weapon skills from their chosen secondary class. While this would involve creating a lot of new skills and corresponding skill animations it still seems easier than adding multiple new weapons and increases build variety.4: Food/Utility tool quick bag, give each character a 5 slot pouch that can only hold consumables and displays a quick bar above the skill bar to easily access and refresh consumables (make pouch expandable with gems or gold?)5: I know people will gripe and it's probably a long shot but Make the option to have account shared gathering tool slots I'll pay gems for it because it's better than paying 20000-30000 gems (hundreds of dollars) or infinite tools for my 9+ characters. I'm fine making the "shared gathering tool slot" upgrade gem based so it's optional for players who already invested in many infinite tools6: Allow a characters appearance to be "saved" as an outfit by spending gold/gems (maybe one free outfit appearance slot and others cost gems) this would allow quick swapping of armor and maintaining a look or sharing a heavy armor look to light armor or vice versa7: Allow placing Sigils of Day/Night into Eternity to lock it into it's Sunrise/Twilight modes respectively and before people say transmute to one look or another the Eternity version of Twilight is different than the base one, or just unlock all 3 skins when binding Eternity so I can transmute between base Eternity, Eternal Twilight, and Eternal Sunrise8: Create a Mystic Forge recipe to craft Mystic Coins or an account bound substitute (it's not a perfect solution imo but could help increase the availability without crashing the coin market)9: Integrated Voice chat, I know this has mixed feelings with a lot of folks and I understand there are more logistics than just programming but come on, almost every modern multiplayer game has voice chat integrated I think it's high time to add GW2 to that list
