  1. This is coming from a casual player, for clarification. The goodit's a nice convenience item.the extra storage gear templates give is nice.bonus; tnx for giving us a free tab expansion. The badthe price is a little too high. now, i say a little. i can see why gear templates cost more since there also extra storage, and the real thing that took so long to make. but i don't see why they cost 500 each, especially if there character bound. i don't see why gear temps shouldn't at most have the price of build tab expac's, or why builds cost anything at all.it doesn't support skins that well. as long as that armor is there, the skin or dye will stick with you gear switching even if you change it for a specific build. now my revenant looks kind of weird with red dye next to my ley line gloves and pants.no clear way to navigate through stuff. it took me a while to figure out where gear temps are (i didn't watch the presentation) and to figure out you get that account bound build by clicking copy. why? this is ironicly very inconvenient. why can't you set the build, double click to copy it to your current one, and right click to rename and overwrite? not very intuitive if you ask me.you can't bind build temp's and gear temp's to the same key. simply annoying.the switch to your PVP build whilst entering is gone. just why? why replace a perfectly fine feature for one that just came out and has many problems, which i assume is what the constant "new build available"'s are for. there was no reason to do that, aside from money i assume. this is the one bad that actively harms the experience for me, and makes it so much less inconvenient. especially for those that switch between gamemodes often. Conclusionat best, it's fine. it's a nice convenience feature for us filthy casuals. the extra storage is nice as well. and although there are annoyincess, it's generally a non harmful update for us.however, i cannot ignore the frustration it has caused with hardcore players. which is where it is the worst. even ignoring the clear monetary motive. its a very limited amount of storage for them. even 6 is not enough to fill every role for each proffesion, unless you just want DPS/Healer for each core and spec. it's for from the most convenient thing in the game, too. the unintuitive system making it a lot more confusing than it should have ever been, the key binding's not working together so you either have to selectively pick which specific key to use that isn't already used up by mount binds or other binds, or though it out and go to the hero panel and switch them that way. (which is not at all convenient) and, while im not one for dredging up the past, i can't imagine how this was day one for hardcore player's with all the bugs and kicks. Overall, even if you can ignore the monetary aspect, the system is just bad at it's core, it's about as inconvenient as possible. it wasn't just whoever manage anet or ncsoft who kittened up, you guys, the developers, failed. SuggestionsFirst and foremost, if you can, please bring back the PVP switch. the removal is easily the worst part about this patch.keep the skins in certain builds and not in others if we so choose.make it easier to navigate through. build and gear temps are in different tabs. they should not. put them into the same tabe or maybe even make a different tab entirely for that. make it so that double clicking copy's the acc build to your current one, and right click for other options. while i don't think this is worth leaving over, this patch leaves me very dissapointed. seeing this in summer thinking; "oh, cool! i don't have to do this anymore", to now and it ended up being a mediocre patch with inconvenient conveniences and you thinking it would also be good enough to replace a perfectly fine feature. im dissapointed. and mine doesn't even measure in miles to that of your hardcore audience.
  2. I've read this thread and yikes, there's a lot of war here. im going to give my take because im kind of neutral in all this and i want to give both sides a decent understanding of one another. First off, I want to address two major things to the people who want free templates. (not more templates because that's reasonable but I'll get into that later) One guy in this entire thread said this better than i ever could. Guild Wars 2 is not Guild wars 1. That simple. Its business model isn't to pay for a game and get what's inside, its free to play. It's designed to get players in for free and get them into paying for stuff. wether I'd be gem store or expansions and the like. As Obtena said, it would be pretty darn generous to give out these things for free. And while it would be amazing, it's not gonna happen because of the business model, good or bad.I probably don't need to say this since the doomsayers have done that for me tenfold, but anyway. Arena net is balanced on the head of a pin. Their only source of income is Guild Wars 2 and it's about the same for that game. If they didn't sell this convenience stuff and only supported pure cosmetics, while the game likely wouldn't die, their already decreasing income would be even less. they kind of have to do this stuff so they make more bank than what their using and NCsoft won't pull the plug. To expect free build templates in GW2 is raising expectations too high itself, but at this point, that expectation is pretty ludicrous. Now, Do not think this means i am still in support of Anet's decision, unlike some other people of the opposite side. (again, neutral) i fully agree that 3 free build slots and 6 if you pay is simply not enough for many people. and the people trying to defend that problem with strawman's are wrong, simply put. That said, Anet, especially in the state it is, will not simply give us free stuff. it's an unfortunate decision, and heck, i don't even think it's a necessary decision, but it was an expected one. Now, secondly, im gonna address some things to the "apologists" as well. Here, im going to respond to the points being made by them because there are some points that are not wrong, but misguided and I want to give a little insight and empathy for those against it. And there are also others that are just flat out wrong, and I want to tear into them. "They are a convenience, not needed."Mostly fair. bank/bag storage is also paywalled, too. is it still bad? depends on opinion, in all honestly. but Astral really said something that should honestly be a wake-up call some conversations ago; I understand that it can just be a convenience, but look where that mentality has gotten us with other companies like EA, of course. many were fine with it because of this mentality. now? they've pretty much reduced every game they make to a virtual casino and it's apparently considered your average day now. do you want them to go that far? i get it, it's not essential to the game, but at least understand why they are so against it in our modern industry."were getting free stuff"No, your not. your getting a replacement, a replacement with less in fact. people who has plenty stored on ArcBuild now have to either pay to get less of what they already had, or get a binder. paid build templates were obvious given the model this game has, but your attempt to rationalize people who are angry thta they have to pay to get less by saying "it's free" are complete and utter dolyak droppings."your gonna buy it anyway"while i've only heard this from the last comment i've seen, Obtena's, it's a point made nonetheless. This is a strawman, hands down. your implying that everyone who's complaining about this is going to buy it anyway, which is centaur poo, not true, more simply put. don't really have much else to say here. Anyway, that's my take. i really hope I've cleared up some of the bloodsheds this thread is making. i just don't like people who take everything to the absolute extreme. tnx for reading! TL;DR: If your expecting free stuff, not gonna happen.
  3. To this last bit, the game has had sever power creep from both expansions, PVP and WvW are both a mess balance wise as well, and PVE is just barely better. but the elite specs are simply extensions to your character, not overpowered overhauls. I know this from having a renegade; it's not better, it's just extra.and if your talking about the exploits players use to dominate other players/enemies, that's always going to happen no matter what the devs do. that's not exactly a problem you can fix even if a new game was created.
  4. your severely undermining LW and the sacrifices required to make a new GW.lets go over what you just said. in a more realistic context: One choice (LWS5) gives you another story mode, a potential couple new maps, a small extra mechanic, and a build up to the new xpac. and would require at most a bundle of gems from the player to buy it. GW3 on the other hand, would mean a new or completely changed map, a whole new personal story, and new proffessions. which isn't a bad thing, but that requires the player to sacrifice everything they did in GW2. and would cost Anet a shat ton of money. which would also take years to develop. and if GW2 really was as stale as you said it is, then making GW3 would stop GW2 development entirely. and what would long time players do in the meantime? and you're acting like GW3 would bring GW as a whole back from it's supposedly zombie like state. it won't. it will do the exact same thing. people aren't going to come to GW3 simply because it's "new" or even because it's better. and where did this "unbalanced" gameplay complaint come from?
  5. im not gonna act like i like this system, but the mastery locks are just another trick by arena net to get you to explore the world. nothing more, nothing less. the only thing they "force" you to do is activley look for points instead of having them handed to you via story.
